Mad Max: Fury Road
For the time being, I'm putting it down as a win that it still has the feel of a Miller product. Even with the bigger effects (some of the things they did in '79 and '81 probably wouldn’t be legal on the set of a movie today ), it looks as visceral and as much of a singular vision as each of the originals were, and that low-angle shot of the dusty road at the beginning is Max through and through. Supposedly, the scenes we've seen up to now are mostly taken from two particular sequences, should be interesting to see if they go as big for the remainder of the running time.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014)
A new 'red band' trailer just landed. It's a bit longer than the previous two, with narrative threads seemingly connecting the prequel and sequel elements of the movie.

Mad Max: Fury Road
I was already sold on Tom Hardy as Max, but aside from CGI that comes across as looking a little bit rough at times, the overall feel of the trailer is superb. It helps that the originator of the character is on board and directing.

Sabina Altynbekova
This is exactly what happened to me when I tried out for my local bowls team.

Sabina Altynbekova
Sabina Altynbekova (Kazakh: Сабина Алтынбекова; born 5 November 1996) is a member of Kazakhstan women's national volleyball team. In July 2014, she became an Internet sensation when she traveled with her team to Taipei, Taiwan, as part of the Kazakh team taking part in the 2014 Asian Junior Women's Volleyball Championship, where she quickly took center stage because of her beauty. The Kazakhstan team finished the tournament in 7th place, with Altynbekova rarely playing in the matches.

- Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
I actually don't mind it. The heels are a bit odd (I would have preferred just standard boot soles or perhaps even armoured sandals), but the rest works fairly well. It was probably never on the cards for Gadot to wear anything close to the old stars and stripes gear, and this at least maintains the character's Ancient Greek/Amazonian aesthetic. As worried as I still am about the casting and the plot of the movie, everything looks decent from a visual standpoint. That's something.- Battle of the Polaroids

Here's a little round-up of some of the best photographs from the tournament, as chosen by the Guardian website. /monthly_07_2014/post-20523-0-1593839769-12093_thumb.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="Argentina-v-Belgium-Quart-033.jpg">- The Avengers, Age of Ultron, Infinity War & Endgame (2012-2019)
So that's Ultron on the Entertainment cover? Wow! Great to see a relatively faithful adaptation of the character's design, I like that he's seemingly mimicking Stark's pose. As we know, James Spader isn't just the voice of Ultron, he's also been doing motion capture work for the role, so either his robot mug opens up and reveals something similar to his real face or this is just one of a few different suit transformations. Can't wait to find out. Respectfully disagree on Scarlett's hair, I think it's an improvement on the longer, straightened-out style she had in 'Winter Soldier'. They shouldn't have messed with the perfection that was her 'Avengers' look, though. :persuazn: I also like how Hulk's costume is just a pair of purple trousers.- Music of 2014
Here's a new one from Bat For Lashes. It's a one-off track taken from a compilation album called 'Body Of Songs', which is due for release next year.- Sveta Utkina

Sad times, but their music and legacy will always live on.- FIFA World Cup 2014
I don't usually mind that, but on this occasion it seemed a bit excessive, the main problem being that the trophy presentation took an age to get off the ground. I felt bad for Argentina, who were forced to wait on the pitch for an absurd length of time. Good to see Sepp Blatter met with a stadium full of boos, though.- FIFA World Cup 2014
Ah, that explains it. I assumed Gisele would be a part of the presentation at the end instead. In fear of accidentally catching a glimpse of the closing ceremony, I did my best to avoid most of the TV coverage beforehand.- Battle of the Polaroids
