  1. Honestly they should just cancel it after season three. No one has any interest in seeing Liam Hemsworth in that role. The fact that they think he is right for that role tells me they don't have a clue about who Geralt is supposed to be.
  2. Well it depends on what you choose to believe (until he himself clears it up). The two theories seem to be that either he doesn't have the time any more between Superman and James Bond (which is still a rumor). Or he finally had enough of the writing direction the showrunner and her writer's room were taking the show in. On that note, this was interesting: https://netflixjunkie.com/netflix-news-writers-of-netflixs-the-witcher-mocked-the-source-material-producer-writer-beau-demayo-exposes-their-little-secret/ So apparently according to Beau DeMayo (who was a writer on season one of the show), several of the writers mocked the source material. Doesn't seem like an ideal situation for an adaptation.
  3. So having read up on it, there are theories that Cavill is jumping ship because the showrunner is ignoring his wish to stay true to the spirit of the books (specifically about how Geralt acts and talks). I am willing to give this some credence because he has mentioned this disagreement in a few interviews. On the other hand, I don't think it's just down to Superman, I think he could structure his schedule that he could return to play the Man of Steel whilst still playing Geralt too. So I think this is primarily about having secured another role that will take up a lot of his time. Which is why I also believe the James Bond rumors about him. A shame, I was skeptical about him as Geralt but I thought he did a good job and it's clear he loves both the character and the Witcher universe. And Liam Hemsworth could not be a more underwhelming replacement.

  5. That sucks. Cavill did a good job and I don't rate Liam as an actor. I guess this means the Bond rumors might be true as well?
  6. I see some culture warriors are complaining about the remake because they used the term "modern re-iminaging" in the announcement and it is being interpreted as "woke". A normal person might interpret that as "a remake in Unreal Engine 5", but I guess I'm no longer attuned to the times.
  7. Arya's story line is very close to the show. But the show went well beyond the point that the books covered. Arya's story still has her in Braavos. The last bit of her story has her kill Raff the Sweetling. In the show they also had this scene, but they replaced Raff with Meryn Trant. This is roughly how far the books have thus gotten in Arya's story lines.
  8. The Jaime and Brienne story lines differ greatly from the books. The Theon chapter is one from Winds of Winter that GRRM published on his blog a few years ago. He has also read it aloud at some fan events. This is all the stuff that GRRM has given us a glimpse at in terms of Winds of Winter: https://thehawke.github.io/twow-excerpts/ Theon chapter: https://thehawke.github.io/twow-excerpts/chapters/theon.html
  9. Well for some definitely. Like I think book Sandor is more interesting. More nuanced for sure. Also Jorah and Tyrion's adventures in Essos go a bit deeper than the short bit we get of that on the show. And even though she is less "fierce", I also think Sansa is much smarter written by GRRM than what Benioff & Weiss ended up doing with her. I'm also convinced that whatever Stannis' greater role is in GRRMs vision, he is not going to perish during some doomed assault on Winterfell in the books. The pre-published Theon chapter kind of reveals this a bit already. In general I think Benioff & Weiss took a lot of stupid shortcuts to finish their show in the final three seasons.
  10. Yeah, Jorah and Tyrion are much more attractive/handsome on the TV show than in the books. Tyrion's face is meant to be more misshapen. And by the time he survives the Battle of the Blackwater, he has lost most of his nose. On the show they just gave him a little scar. But I get why they would change that kind of stuff. Less so with the plot development for the characters.
  11. I do have to ask: looking at any clip or picture set from a few years ago, I cannot shake the impression that Sarah's chest has changed. Is there a chance she had some sort of breast reduction surgery done? Or am I totally imagining this?
  12. My impression is different from yours. I thought it took a long time to get going. Only the final two episodes felt like they had real stakes. The rest of the season seemed mostly about world-building and setting the table for the coming civil war. It still has failed in creating a large cast of likable/compelling characters. Probably it will never match Game of Thrones in that aspect.
  13. Her hips are very broad/pronounced for an otherwise very slender girl. It makes her stand out.
  14. So pretty!
  15. Topic cleaned. Please do not post (borderline) libelous accusations about a model without any kind of proof!
  16. Yeah saw that yesterday. Seems like it's a new studio made up largely out of CDPR veterans, so a good chance this might actually be good.
  17. Yeah but you should realize that the books are very different from the series in that regard. For one thing, at the point of the story where the books are now, Sandor Clegane is just 29 years old. Whereas Rory McCann was already 42 in the first season of GoT. So they definitely went another way entirely with that character. There are many hints at the fact that GRRM at least at one point planned something between them. One thing is the mention of Sandor in every Sansa chapter bar one (even after she leaves King's Landing). She also keeps his bloodied cloak (from when he comes to her during the Battle of the Blackwater). As for Sansa's personality, it's true that they made her much more ruthless and cunning on the show, but that evolution is far less pronounced in the books. At least up to the point in the story where GRRM has gotten us. It might very well be that Sansa changes a lot more in the books too under the tutelage of Littlefinger. Should also note that the entire subplot of Ramsey Bolton marrying and raping her is also something entirely of the show. So that is a huge deviation already from the books in Sansa story line.
  18. Am I going crazy or is starting to look crazily like Cindy in a lot of her candids recently?
  19. I have no idea. I cannot imagine that the Daenerys ending will be like in the show. Or if it is, we get a slower progression to her becoming the villain. It felt all too rushed on the show. I also find the idea that GRRM would let Bran sit on the Iron Throne at the end of it weird. So I think that too will be resolved differently. Jon Snow going beyond the Wall after the war is over does seem more like a GRRM plot line. And I think San-San shippers might be right that Martin at least originally intended to have Sansa end up with Sandor Clegane. Apart from her dreams and the amount of times she thinks of him after she departs King's Landing (IIRC there is just one Sansa POV chapter in which Clegane isn't at least mentioned), there is also the vision of her dark-haired children (can't remember what book). Whether or not he still intends to do that remains to be seen.
  20. Her little smile in this video:
  21. I read the entire series in between season one and two of GoT. So I have been waiting for the sixth book for around a decade now.
  22. GRRM has been working on this one for eleven years. If he still has a quarter of the book to write, then we are looking at 14, possibly 15 years before he is done. There is no way he will ever finish the seventh book at that tempo. He might be pushing eighty by the time he releases Winds of Winter. If it ever gets released.
  23. What happened to her career? It's been ages since I saw her in anything.
  24. Enjoyed the first two episodes of Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities. Especially the first one. Tim Blake Nelson is great in such roles. Very keen to see the rest of the series (they are dropping two new episodes each day this week until Friday).
