  1. The woman is a walking piece of art.
  2. So can you explain to me how black elves are "problematic" but Hollywood's 100+ years of race-switching isn't? Because I don't understand how any one person can have both of those beliefs at once.
  3. I have no idea what you are talking about. The entirety of the debate has been like this: You: I hate it when they change the race of characters from their source materials in movies and TV Me: But this is not new, Hollywood has always done this
  4. You are the one who brought this up!
  5. I gave two examples because those are the first two that came to mind. There are so many more. Not just in classic Hollywood either. Jake Gyllenhaal playing a Persian. Scarlett Johanssen in Ghost in the Shell. Johnny Depp playing native America Tonto in the Lone Ranger. Anyway, I digress. I don't really care about any of those. And I don't see why I should care about black elves either. The thing I don't understand is caring about one and not the other. Either you want characters to conform to the racial identity in the source materials or you don't.
  6. Do you think that that San Antonio PD would bother opening an investigation if they had absolutely no reason to believe that things weren't above board? If you are fine with politicians using taxpayer money for political stunts, that is up to you, I find it distasteful and frankly far beneath the level of seriousness I would expect from even a local politician, let alone a Governor.
  7. I would say that was one of the best shoots of the modern era and they didn't even seem to have realized what they had...
  8. How did she not get the cover that year?
  9. I didn't know they were close but now that I do I find them a super-cute pairing. 😛
  10. Mella giving the people what they want!
  11. I notice that you haven't addressed my point about race-switching in Hollywood being almost as old as Hollywood movies themselves.
  12. Those people were lured under false pretenses. That's why San Antonio PD has opened an investigation. As for the rest of this discussion, my only opinion is that Governors should try not to break the law. A controversial opinion, I know!
  13. Sexy abs on her.
  14. Her smile is adorable!
  15. I honestly have better things to do with my life than worry about some online "culture war". I just abhor hypocrisy and much prefer honesty. So when people complain about too many black people in a fantasy show I would prefer they are honest about why it bothers them instead of hiding behind "authenticity" or some other bullshit. At least have the courage of your convictions. Secondly, Hollywood has ALWAYS changed the races of historical characters, it's not like they have started doing this in the last decade. That's how you can have John Wayne playing Genghis Khan or say Elizabeth Taylor playing Cleopatra. On the subject of Cleopatra, the black community has claimed her as well, but it makes no sense either. She was Macedonian Greek which makes it very likely she was Mediterranean in appearance. But I digress, the reality remains that race-switching characters is almost as old as Hollywood itself. The only thing that has happened more recently is that whereas this was primarily white actors playing non-white characters in the past, we now occasionally also have a non-white actor playing a white character.
  16. My point is that I cannot take seriously anyone who is supposedly a stickler for authenticity, but the only authenticity he/she ever complains about are matters of sex and race. Each historical drama gets so much wrong. The bad ones are even ridiculously poor in getting even the basics right (e.g. medieval settings where a character is wearing a garment with a zipper ).
  17. DeSantis probably used tax money to break the law with his Martha's Vineyard stunt, so if that is political genius I guess we have a different definition of the word. I know that over here any Governor who uses tax payer money that way would instantly end his or her political career.
  18. I don't care about Kathleen Kennedy or anything else. Four episodes in, Andor is a very good show. IF they can maintain this quality, it will easily be the best Star Wars show on Disney+, by some distance.
  19. The insistence on historical accuracy is very limited in its scope. It's usually just about race and/or gender. Whilst there are like 101 issues with every single historical show that go far beyond just those two things. Like if you are truly a stickler for authenticity, why would you watch Rome in English?
  20. For not allowing neighboring blue states to send help?
  21. Not sure what has changed but I'm really starting to like Bella.
  22. Yup, it's possible they have something of an open marriage. Even if they don't, Behati must have known what musicians are like on the road. Same with pro athletes during road trips.
  23. That's one of her agency digitals (she's with Wilhelmina). https://www.wilhelmina.com/new-york/women/curve/791-priscilla-huggins/49532/ That window is a pretty clear giveaway.
  24. Wait, are Mella & Kara friends IRL?
  25. She'll need one of those herself soon!
