There is a certain amount of irony in a country which was founded on what was essentially one large protest movement against governmental abuse of power perceiving a protest against governmental abuse of power as un-American.

But she no longer has those after the new fitness routine! Anyway, if it is fair to criticize Kaepernick and those who have joined his protest for their use of their platform, then surely it is fair game to criticize Kate Upton when she does the same, but from her own perspective. No one forces any celebrity to make political statements, regardless of where they find themselves on the political spectrum.

This isn't really hard. Systemic prejudice and oppression does not mean that some individuals can't still escape said disadvantages and become successful. However, this does not disprove the prejudice and oppression the members of said group face. If that were the case, you could use the example of Madam C.J. Walker's success and wealth as proof that black Americans weren't discriminated against in the early 20th century. Which would be absurd.

Please keep this discussion civil. But pointing out white privilege is hardly racism. Unless you don't believe there aren't certain built-in advantages to being born white in the west.

Finished "Narcos" season 2. Not sure how I feel about two more seasons. Wagner Moura's performance as Pablo Escobar was the main reason why I watched it. The Cali cartel lacks a character as compelling as Pablo Escobar as well as a performer as talented as Wagner Moura.

Someone like her will be paid scale, which is around 2K a day nowadays, I believe. Unless she has a very good agent who can negotiate a better deal. But since no one will see this movie for her involvement, I cannot see how that is possible. But for a model-turned-actress, the exposure can be worth a lot more than whatever she is going to get.
