My understanding is that his stand-up is respected because he was making fun of the concepts of stand-up (set-up, punchline, everything). I'm not an expert on comedy, but I remember that it's something like that. I'm sure you could find somewhere it's explained better and more thoroughly.

I like uniqueness, and look for it. Of course, it can go always go wrong and be too strange, but it's worth the attempt at something different.

I liked the show a lot, and will continue to look forward to Noah's work. I know Fargo is coming back next year, and he is working on something with Cat's Cradle (not sure how far along that is, though).

I have seen Theo, but not enough to form an opinion.

Seems to be a problem for a lot of people.

Another thread I'm glad I avoid.

I don't always check this thread, so I probably missed it. Comedy is very subjective, you never know what you might like.

I absolutely should have mentioned Patton and Mulaney, didn't think of them for some reason. I'm sure there are some obscure ones I like too that I'm not thinking of. Similar styles, deadpan one-liners. You don't see it a lot. I assume it's because it's more difficult than it looks.

I'm not sure I really have a list, and it depends on my mood. Here are three that came to my mind immediately, Jim Gaffigan when I need something positive. I like Mike Birbiglia, but not everyone likes that style. Demitri Martin is a lot of fun, no matter how weird his content can be. I'm sure there are others I like, and some I like more than these, but I enjoy these three. ETA: Also, Tig Notaro.

I feel like these are fairly accurate descriptions of the art world.

Lais lost a couple of early rounds in this comp and I thought "oh no, people have turned against her". I wasn't going to say it, but I was thinking the same thing about Grace (and Jo).
