Come on, that's not fair

Clearly, I'm new, but I have used the site for a while just never created an account. Is there a thread with an explanation for how the competitions work? Some are fairly straightforward, but many seem to go on never finishing or having a winner(s). I have looked through the Bellazon Competitions section for an explanation of the competitions and through individual competition threads with no luck finding an answer. (hopefully that made sense) Maybe there was better place for this question, but I didn't think it deserved a new thread somewhere.
