elfstone Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 ^Acc to one theory Hound (not Tyrion) is the prophesized 'valonqar'. Cersei is to meet her demise in a trial by combat, where her representative "the Mountain" is defeated by the Hound It would serve multiple purposes Hound redeems himself through the "Faith" Avenges the humiliation he suffered at the hands of his brother More importantly, incest will not go unpunished (Christian audience/readers be like ) Quote
Stormbringer Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 ^ Never heard about that one. I don't know, it looks interesting, but it sounds a bit far-fetched for me. Again... there's still 2 books to be published so I won't venture saying "it can't happen". But I don't buy it Quote
elfstone Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Tyrion is too obvious a candidate for Valonqar Wouldnt it be a nice twist? Quote
frenchkiki Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 As hard as i tried I did not feel sorry for Cersei. But I feel sorry for all the women who has to walk that walk in reality.(fucking real medieval custum (law) by fucking catholic puritans) Quote
elfstone Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 ^ On the bright side, she got away with the big charge Quote
Stormbringer Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Tyrion is too obvious a candidate for Valonqar Wouldnt it be a nice twist? Would be a nice twist, definitely. But I still don't buy it. Anyway, Martin doesn't seem to go with the obvious options anyway And hey, I see you're really interested on this stuff. Again I strongly recommend you to read the books! I love the series (though this season gave many reasons to doubt ), but the books are on a whole different level. I want the 6th book!!! Quote
frenchkiki Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 ^ On the bright side, she got away with the big charge She can fuck with her brother as much as she wants -I don't blame her, if Jaime was my brother I have sex with him too- she has to pay for everything she has done. The walk was a good start. Quote
elfstone Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Ok I dont think they are bluffing anymore.http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/tv/game-of-thrones-actor-kit-harington-kept-a-big-f-ing-secret-about-jon-snow/story-fnmgnour-1227400958068 “Jon dies,” he said. “It’s final. He’s dead.” http://time.com/3921077/game-of-thrones-jon-snow-kit-harington/ Quote

The walk was a good start. prohibition on incest is the fundamental a priori condition that makes social relations, politics, etc possible. It was fairly obvious from the start Cersei ( and the children) were bound to suffer terrible consequences. In fact, tbh I thought after season 1 that the whitewalkers etc was merely sideshow, the real narrative would bethe civil war that would be caused by the revelation of Joffrey's true parentage. Little bit like Antigone/Creon I was wrong Quote
Lyla Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Do yourself a favor, elfstone, and do not read the books until this show airs! But you should definetely read it, when you'll have withdrawal symptoms and such...Though maybe you can already read the first 3 without ruining your own pleasure. Anyway, that sentence can't convince me. Jon Snow will stay in the show imo. I started to like Kit Harrington's acting, he can't leave now. Quote
elfstone Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 7000 pages of fantasy novels?? thats a tall order Quote
SympathysSilhouette Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 You can burn through them pretty quickly, they are real pageturners. Quote
Stormbringer Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 ^ Agreed. I went through all 5 books in around 2 months Quote
elfstone Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 elfstone: you lost me at prohibition ^ I previously thought the show was just about Lannisters ie "sin" and its aftermath. Thats what I meant Quote
Lyla Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv/showtracker/la-et-st-game-of-thrones-hbo-tca-20150730-story.html “Dead is dead is dead is dead. He be dead. Yes,” Lombardo said. “Everything I've seen and heard and read, Jon Snow is indeed dead.” No way. I don't buy this ^.He'll return. I'm not a Jon Snow fan, but he has to...LOL And I would love to see a prequel show. Quote
Clauds Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 If Jon Snow is dead indeed, then why is Kit in Belfast with the rest of the crew ? Quote
Stormbringer Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 ^ Exactly. I don't buy any of those "official statements" either. He will be back.R+L=J Quote
SympathysSilhouette Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 He is obviously not dead. This is all part of the shows kayfabe.Neither the cast, the showrunners or the producers are deviating from what was shown on the screen.Until it will be disproved on the screen itself. Quote
