At least Lais is a better model than some of the other girls that are considered candidates for the Angel spot.

I cant say that Martha hunt or Sara Sampaio are any impressive when it comes to PR. I find Martha in particular very boring in her interviews.

That being said, I love Lais and I think she's amazing for VS but I don't think they should sign her, she just doesn't seem to have the personality for it, I just can't imagine Lais in one of the VS events being all cutesy with the fans and doing PR. And if VS was planning to sign they would have done it by now, I think that ship has sailed tbh, she probably has a lucrative contract with them already that is less exclusive.

I don't think VS needs to tell her anything, Lais probably knows it already. At the end of the day she is probably making almost as much $ as the Angels, she gets the same screentime in commercials, the same catalog pages than the Angels and she doesn't even have to bother to promote the brand like the others do.

 

Also for all we know it could be VS not wanting to sign Lais or it could be Lais not wanting to sign an exclusivity deal with VS, not every model under the sun wants to see her work range limited to bras and panties for 3 years, she wouldn't be the first (and probably not the last) to turn down a VS contract.

A modelling contract, like any contract, comes with a set of catches and limitations. They cannot work for some brands, they have to be sat certain event or else VS can give them a penalty and so on and so forth. Some other contracts might be more lucrative or less restrictive.

I surely prefer Lais over Jasmine and Martha. That's 100%, but I don't think either she's gonna ever become angel. But I actually don't even mind as long as they keep using her everywhere, 'cause she's amazingly beautiful :wub2:

Clauds, thanks for that explanation. I only asked because I felt that Lias wanted an angel contract. I suspected for a long time that some models are turning VS down. I've seen a lot of posts saying VS is stupid not contracting certain models and have realised that top models want to do the VSFS and some modelling for VS but do not want angel contracts. They are the ones who get into the VSFS without attending the casting. Another reason is that VS treats new angels like beginners and expect them to wait years to be selected for something major like opening a show or segment or wearing the FB. I also feel the way VS used Candice for everything over other angels makes models reluctant to enter into contracts. You can get sidelined like Lindsay and be locked in a contract. There will never be a shortage of models willing to enter into contracts, just not always the ones VS want. I think they had to agree to a totally different contract to get Karlie.

Yeah I think that too in some way, because Karlie is doing so many things besides VS and that made me think she has some sort of different restrictions to her contract. Also, I don't think they had to "fight" to get Karlie, I think she wanted to be an Angel since the day she entered the VS world. So it was a fifty fifty and "everyone won". At least, that's what I think LOL

Each contract is different anyway. For instance Gisele reportedly made 5 millions a year while Karoline barely scrapped the bottom of the best paid models with 2 or 3 millions for all of her jobs of the year (and Izabel and Selita never even made it on the list).

I did not mean different in terms of what contracts are worth, but what she is allowed to do outside of VS, not being treated like a rookie and being considered for opening segments in only her second year. When she entered she was already bigger in modeling than all the angels except maybe Adriana. No angel gets covers as regularly as she does. Magazine covers, not VS catalogue covers.

I am sure she would love an Angels contract but I don't think she would be super upset if she never got one. VS pays quite well compare to other brands, contract or not, so as long as they keep on hiring her I am pretty sure she is ok w/ that (Y)
