God knows i'm pro Israel, and a big buddy of the jewish community, but tbh, we all have to point out the fact that the Kate Upton bash (FOR EXEMPLE) was as much disgusting as that ... Being disgusting is inherent to the Social Networks nowadays.

A Pittsburgh woman has been charged after she physically abused her five-year-old son, left him alone for extended periods of time and forced him to smoke crack cocaine, police said.

Pittsburgh police obtained an arrest warrant on Tuesday for Rochelle Daniels, 39, on charges including endangering the welfare of children and simple assault, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

Other charges include corruption of minors and recklessly endangering another person.

Daniels' son told child case workers his mom locked in his room while she was gone all night, that he was spanked with a belt or paddle, and that he had to get food from neighbors because he was so hungry, a criminal complaint said.

The boy has been in the custody of his aunt since August 27 after Daniels left him at a home in Crafton Heights and never returned.

Daniels had left her son in the care of a neighbor who agreed to watch the child while she went to speak with a former employer at a McDonald's on the night of August 26, police said.

However, Daniels never came back and his aunt was notified the next day that the boy was at the man's house and that his mother was missing, the affidavit stated.

The aunt then went to Daniels' home where she found the door unlocked and the house in a mess with garbage strewn everywhere, according to police.

She filed a missing person report and continued caring for the boy.

On September 4, the boy told her his aunt that his mother had made him smoke something which the aunt concluded was a crack pipe, investigators said.

He described of how his mother took something 'long' and pushed something 'white' at the end of it before taking a lighter and lighting it, the affidavit said.

The boy told his aunt that 'mommy lit the end of it and told me to smoke it' and that afterwards he 'started choking,' according to the affidavit.

He also told the aunt that his mom gave him pills to make him fall asleep, police said.

The next day, on September 5, his aunt took him to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

Later that month in an interview with a child case worker, the boy said his mother left him 'home alone all the time', would often not wake up in the mornings and that he would go to a neighbor's home for food, according to the affidavit.

He also noted that he was scared to be home because of being left alone and 'butt whoopings,' adding that his mother scared him, the affidavit said.

Daniels is in a long-term drug and alcohol treatment facility and it is not clear when police will execute the warrant for her arrest, WTAE reported.

Neighbors told the station about how they knew Daniels was dealing with addiction but none believed she would intentionally hurt her son, with one neighbor saying 'she loves her son dearly.'

It is not known if Daniels has a lawyer.

Breakthrough for DNA-editing: US team discovers 'holy grail' to fix genes to cure incurable diseases, blindness - and even extend human lifespan

  • Salk Institute scientists have used new technique to cure rats' blindness
  • It is the first time anyone has edited DNA in eyes, heart, brain or liver
  • These organs' cells rarely divide, making them very difficult to penetrate
  • So far the most advanced method is called CRISPR, which can edit skin and gut genes - it was tested yesterday by Chinese scientists
  • But Salk's study has been hailed as biggest leap in DNA research to date

Absolutely incredible! However we`re opening doors we are nowhere near ready to go through yet

I agree on both counts.
It's great that we're learning and discovering all this, yet scary to think what can be done with it, and are we ready to step across that threshold?

/on soapbox.

This is something I feel very strong about. There are 7 in my family that have or had diabetes.  For one of them, they can't afford the insulin that would effectively treat them. I fear when it comes my turn to hit the bolus I won't be able to afford it either.

Please look this over and sign if you agree. Who knows, it may even help someday.

Thank you all very much.

/off soapbox.
