George didn't want to deal with the fans anymore after the prequels. He felt Star Wars would be in good hands and do a good job with the sequel trilogy. Had Disney kept stuff into the ‘one and the same’ galaxy, I wouldn’t feel this way. When Disney said that Fuck Off to the well established and tight control of the timeline, I wouldn’t feel this way.

I remember the hype for the prequels being pretty extensive and I thought it was going to be the greatest movie ever- until I saw it! Attack of the Clones also sucked. I had a nightmare last night, probably stimulated by seeing a discussion during the day about leveraging a project with tweaks and getting a result that was several times greater than that before. My nightmare (not the details but the essence) was about the teams and projects I managed that was overburdened by the massive weight of their ideas and had some last ditch, race against the clock execution issues. The end result was disappointing and less than what could have been achieved with the resources employed and all the grand hopes and ideas that preceded it. I remember the seductive siren of early/middle project goals being achieved and the feeling of megalomania/pride that had to be fought. I wrestled with that human tendency and it had a half-victory by forcing me to overreach. The final product of the Star Wars prequels and Kojima's Metal Gear Solid 4 and 5 have that feel to them-a mountain creativity and energy- and expense- but the execution and final result fell flat.
