Yes, it's very original, mostly because of the instruments they use (medieval and eastern european-like) and also the language (I like Eastern European female voices). Spoiler Maybe I was lucky, but I stumbled across a couple of free concerts when I went to Poland (often in churches or in front of churches) a couple of years ago. I don't know if these free concerts are common; it was in Krakow, where they kind of cultivate the medieval spirit. That's pretty cool, I would like to see these performances. The witcher soundtrack is filled with instruments that I haven't heard before. I was at the Yale campus recently and there was a Cuban festival- the cubans were enjoying it but the music/atmosphere was kind of a mess. They were also using traditional instruments. Have you heard of Wardana? They did the soundtrack for Vikings and they specialize in nordic folk music. Also very good:

There's nothing Polish or Eastern European in these islands. At first, I thought it was really Irish (the clans, the redheads, the accents they have, etc.), but I kinda see some Norwegian/Swedish influences as well (like in the names or the frozen climate). I've seen people on the internet speculating the same. Anyway, I like these islands. It's one of the really interesting part of the game.
