I didn't know Gemma Ward had done any movies.

However it's a bit difficult to decide whether to place models who become actresses here or not. Josie Maran, Rebecca Romijn, Milla Jovovich, Laetitia Casta, Estella Warren... have done more than just 1 movie.

I have just seen she'll be in "Pirates of the Caribbean IV", so we could include her once the film is released, they say it'll be on May 2011 so that would be in the next or the following edition, and she'll get more votes that way.

2 days left to start...

She also played in an australian movie "The Black Balloon" and in "The Strangers" with Liv Tyler (but she was wearing a mask the whole time and she had very few lines of speech). But yes, so far her acting career isn't very prolific.

She also has an upcoming roll of unknown importance/magnitude in the latest installment of the Pirates franchise, but it was just a thought

Don't you have enough with them in the MODELS contests? they should be famous also as actresses, and not only thanks to another job.

Gemma Ward would be alright if she finally has an important role in Pirates IV and right after the movie is released, but the rest??? they should be in a new movie like that too.

BTW, as for Josie Maran, I am thinking about removing her in 2011 cause her last movie is from 2006.

While Josie Maran was in a blockbuster such as "Van Helsing", or in a major role in "The Gravedancers" and some other movies too.

She's number 11 in the credits for that film whereas Yamila is number 2 for her film with much more lines of dialogue. Take another of Josie's films "The Aviator" - I haven't seen that film but she's 28th in the credits for that one and is "Cigarette Girl" - I doubt she had much dialogue/did a lot of acting in that. So I still think she didn't act as much (say as much lines of dialogue) in all her films as Yamila did in hers. I think they both should be in the competition if it's fair.

I agree with the no model sentiment. I mean, in theory there's a lot of models with albums that could classify for the musicians and there are a lot of models that could qualify as actresses by the standard of some of these. There's probably some up and coming or lesser known actresses that could probably have their spots. Now of course I'm not saying get rid of someone who has officially retired from modeling and is known as a full time actress because in that case we'd have to probably get rid of Charlize Theron (though yes obviously light years ahead of the talents of those mentioned in this discussion, just an example). But there are tons of models who have been in a movie or two who probably don't even think of themselves as actresses. But either way it should still be interresting as always of course .

I honestly don't see that in the cases of Milla Jovovich, Laetitia Casta, Rebecca Romijn or Olga Kurylenko for example, they are very popular as actresses too, and I'd say acting is their main job right now.

I don't do nominations in these contests, precisely to avoid anybody can be in.

You also have plenty of contests where you can nominate them, maybe these ones are just the only exception.

I have been doing them in another forum for a long time, and every edition is done by a different user who is in charge of placing the actresses/models in several categories which tell in what round they will start.

That user is usually selected by me, and I obviously ask users who vote the most days to do it. I also try to alternate the place where they are from.

He/she also can include some new actresses/models, around 15-25, but they must be popular of course, the rest remain the same ones who were in the previous contest, and we usually remove the ones who got the lowest scores.

And finally he/she has to follow a few rules that depend on the previous edition too, which in case anybody is interested to know, they basically are:

- There are 120 actresses/models in total. 8 start in the groups (group seeds), 24 in the 4th round, 24 in the 3rd, 32 in the 2nd and 32 in the 1st. (8 + 24 + 24 + 32 + 32 = 120).

- Last 2 finalists are automatically 2 of the 8 group seeds.

- The other 6 group seeds had to reach at least the 3rd preliminary round in the previous contest.

- The 3rd, 4th and 5th positions of the previous contest start in the 4th round, if they are not already selected by him/her as group seeds.

- The same for the 6th to 10th positions, but they start in the 3rd round.

- And any new actress/model has to start in the 3rd, 2nd or 1st round.

I think I don't forget anything.

So far it's been done (in chronological order) by me, Chocolate, mickiala, Jade** and dawson now, in the actresses contests.

And by me again, spades24, Rachel_T, Jennka and Jade** in the models.

Well, you can check only 225 people have rated Yamila's movie on the IMDb, while "The Gravedancers" has been rated more than 4,000 times, and "Van Helsing" 68,000 times.

The position where you are listed in a movie many times is simply alphabetically.

Josie is also listed 2nd in "The Gravedancers", she had the main role there if I am not wrong.

But anyway, you can forget my previous 3 lines if you still don't agree, only the fact Yamila's movie is from 1999 automatically already discards her to be in these contests.

I simply try to be fair and place all the women in the contest where they deserve to be.

As you say, many models and actresses also sing from time to time, and that doesn't qualify them as singers.
