Theron Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Hi there, I was wondering if you would like to play in a Champions League of cinema and TV actresses, I have already done it in another forum several times and it's been quite funny. The game consists in 120 actresses who play several preliminary rounds until just 32 of them (a TOP 32) reach a group stage which consists of 8 groups of 4 actresses each. Once in the group stage every actress faces the other 3 within her group and the best 2 are classified for the round of 16, and later on the quarterfinals, semifinals and final. Everything is very similar to the soccer UEFA Champions League in case you know it. We usually vote 8 confrontations (each one consists of one actress vs another one) at the same time every 24 hours, or 16 confrontations during the whole week-end, and you just have to choose one of the 2 actresses from each confrontation every day, you can also choose none or give a draw (none or a draw are basically the same). And obviously the actress who receives the most votes goes through the next round, in case of a draw the last vote (in chronological order) does not count. Well, the best way to learn how it works would be starting and seeing it. And if you like it we could do a fashion models CL later too. By the way, congratulations on your forum, I stumbled upon it a few days ago and it's pretty amazing... I expect to be here for a long time with you. Best regards. Quote
Theron Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 OK then, though I have to prepare it, I have to decide the 120 participating actresses and split them into several categories:- 32 who start in the 1st preliminary round- 32 who start in the 2nd- 24 who start in the 3rd- 24 who start in the 4th and last preliminary round- and 8 who will be group seeds, one for eachIf we ever do a 2nd edition another (voluntary) member would do that in order to make it different.Another point is that I don't have a clue about how many we are going to participate, maybe too few maybe too many, at the other forum we usually are 20-25 in the preliminary rounds and 25-30 in the group and final stages. Those numbers would be OK, less than that is not so funny and interesting, and more than 30-35 would be too much work for me because I have to count the votes every day. Quote

Theron Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 Well, it's rather usual you don't know them all, you can't, I did not know many either before we started these games more than a year ago and it's quite a good way to continually know and find new ones.- Alice Braga, Brazilian, she appears in "City Of God" and "I Am Legend". http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0103797/- Alison Lohman, American, "Big Fish", "Beowulf", "Matchstick Men", and now in "Drag Me To Hell". http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0517844/- Amber Heard, American, "Alpha Dog", "Never Back Down". http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1720028/- Carice Van Houten, Dutch, "Black Book", "Valkyrie". http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0396924/- Chyler Leigh, American, "Grey's Anatomy" TV series. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0500200/- Cobie Smulders, Canadian, "How I Met Your Mother" TV series. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1130627/- Connie Nielsen, Danish, "Gladiator". http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001567/- Elena Anaya, Spanish, "Van Helsing". http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0025745/- Franka Potente, German, "Run Lola Run", "The Bourne Ultimatum". http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004376/- Izabella Scorupco, Swedish-Polish, "GoldenEye". http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001713/- Natassia Malthe, Norwegian, "Elektra". http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0853573/- Sarah Shahi, American, "The L World" TV series. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1083404/- Zoe Saldana, American, "Star Trek", "The Terminal", "Guess Who". http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0757855/Though you don't have to worry cause when I write the confrontantions they all got a link to their google images. For example, using the ones you just mentioned, it would be something like this every day, you just press on any name and you got their pictures. This is just an example, 1st ROUND, LOT 1 of 2:1 Alice Braga vs Alison Lohman2 Amber Heard vs Carice Van Houten3 Chyler Leigh vs Cobie Smulders4 Connie Nielsen vs Elena Anaya5 Franka Potente vs Izabella Scorupco6 Natassia Malthe vs Sarah Shahi7 Zoe Saldana vs Zooey Deschanel8 Natalie Portman vs Charlize Theron Quote
phenobarbie Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 The question is are we voting based on acting ability or merely physical appearance. Because the big thing with actresses is is that they may not be the prettiest girls out there but some of them just light up the screen and capture a moment that no other girl can.. Just my two cents, but I don't really see the point to vote for an actress just based on their physical appearance, nor do I see how we can give a vote just based on a list of their movies. Quote
Theron Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 The question is are we voting based on acting ability or merely physical appearance.Well I usually consider both things, a bit of everything, their physical appearance, their acting ability if I have seen them in any movie, their class, style... their current relevance. You can really vote them based on whatever you like. Quote
Jennka Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I still like the idea Maybe you could make a voting scale - how many votes for beauty, how many for appearance, how many for acting ability, etc. Bad idea? Or? Quote
Theron Posted July 8, 2009 Author Posted July 8, 2009 I still like the idea Maybe you could make a voting scale - how many votes for beauty, how many for appearance, how many for acting ability, etc.Bad idea? Or? Well, that would be a little difficult to manage, I think it's better to do straight confrontations, to vote them based on their physical appearance and putting in the balance all the rest to make the final decision. I believe we are gonna start the 1st preliminary round in a few minutes, this way the game will finish by the end of July, and we'll see how many we are participating in the first 24 hours, if we're not enough we can always cancel it and try it again in September, cause I can't in August.
