Im not keen on many of the new faces posted here as they are very unique,odd & strange, but this is what is now considered "beautiful" in the fashion industry. i agree with PrettyPhile, they're are so many stunning girls out there, but what makes one of them memorable and stand out from the crowd?

My only point was that I personally don't get the appeal of the new trend for weird, awkward looking girls. I understand why the fashion industry has picked them up, and I realize that this is the new 'it' thing for the decade, I'm just truly hoping that they go back to healthy looking body types and beauty that while may not be completely conventional at least gives girls something to relate to. What is interesting is if you look in the competitions section, and for the most part any worldwide polls done it's those girls that are classically 'pretty' that are still garnering the most interest and still appealing to the mass media/average joe the most.

I'm not saying discount the unique/strange girls, just don't inundate us with them as much as they are. Have a nice healthy balance of up and comers who have a strange looking beauty and those that have a classical beauty. Commercial is the home of the classic, why can't high fashion be as well? It should be all about exaggeration. Personal conjecture aside I realize that most of high fashion isn't about the model it's about the clothes, but can't they at least have pretty coat racks stomping down the runway instead of weird looking ones?

I don´t know what to say. You said it all. geez, Pheno, THAT WAS GREAT exactly what bothers me so much recently. Because what I see here mostly are BONES and hair. Guys, look at it with open eyes. Bones. Bones everywhere. Models with a size of a 12 year old girl. I don´t want to look at 12 year old girls, jesus! Even if they are pretty or not, I just don´t care at all!

I love weird looking models, and Gemma was always my favourite, but have to say, I absolutely agree with pheno that some balance would be amazing - some kind of EQUILIBRIUM in the modeling industry. I don´t want to see only edgy looking models, weird models, models with head size of my car. I want to see classic beauties as well, women with healthy body that I can adore and look up to.

I think a lot of people are also forgetting that models are meant to be artsy hangers in a very literal sense. They are supposed to inspire a designers, give life and emotion to a piece of clothing. Technically, you aren't supposed to emulate a high fashion model.. your supposed to look up to and be appealed by a commercial mode. There's a reason why they are two branches on the modeling/fashion industry. I TOTALLY understand where both of you are coming from, but the way I see it, you can't really be annoyed with a high fashion model looking odd when she's in the right bracket of the market. Just like I don't go ape-shit when Siri Tollerod isn't the face of Maybelle or something 'commercial' like that.

Being in a fashion forum, obviously you're going to be inundated with these 'odd' looking models, but if you go into Aeropostale (I can't spell that place, I don't wear they're evil clothes lol), or walk down the mall, you'll notice most of the faces advertising shit, for the most part, ARE pretty normal looking girls. Look 'em up, get a thread going for 'em.

2. I'm not saying either of you get annoyed, but I know people who do, so it was more of a generalized statement, and I used both of your replies to fuel a third thought.

At the same time, what do we ask models to have? Bones. Its like the first criterion. I agree most of those models'body are not so perfect. They lack of extraweight and are far from the 90-60-90 perfection, but they're tall. I guess its not as easy when you have that requirement to find stunning people as if it was people on the street.

Modeling or not at that age is another issue.

By the way Daria is very skinny too (and beautiful).

HF as it is right now makes it possible for lingerie shows to be repulsing to look at.
