March 20, 20169 yr Leonardo DiCaprio says China can be ‘climate change hero’ Quote BEIJING (AP) — Leonardo DiCaprio praised China’s work to combat climate change on a trip to Beijing on Sunday, and said he believes the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases could be “the hero of the environmental movement.” The actor and environmentalist, who called for action to combat climate change during his Oscar acceptance speech last month, praised China’s shift toward renewable forms of energy to lower carbon emissions. “As we all know, the United States and China are the two biggest contributors, and I think that China has made radical movements forward as far as alternative energy and ways to be sustainable,” he said at a news conference. “I really think that China can be the hero of the environmental movement, they can be the hero of the climate change movement,” he said. “They have an opportunity to change the world and I have all the confidence in the world that that is their intention.” DiCaprio was in Beijing to promote “The Revenant,” which won him his first Oscar, for best actor, at this year’s ceremony. The movie was released in mainland China on Friday and has already earned 100 million yuan ($15 million) at the Chinese box office, according to an announcement at Sunday’s news conference. DiCaprio, who has made several trips to China in the past, is one of China’s most popular Hollywood actors, mainly because of his performance in “Titanic,” one of his few films that have been shown in mainland Chinese cinemas. He is affectionately called Xiao Li, or Little Lee, by Chinese. China is the world’s largest coal user and producer, but has also become a leading investor in renewable forms of energy, such as solar and wind power. http://www.seattletimes.com/nation-world/leonardo-dicaprio-says-china-can-be-climate-change-hero/
March 20, 20169 yr Hello, Thanks for all update ! In this post, you'll find the interview of Leo in a french TV show called: Action ou Vérité. Short but lovely. Here it's: https://youtu.be/NkPjJqPNKNU
March 20, 20169 yr Latest Revenant worldwide box office is now almost $500 million worldwide Quote The film's strong opening in the Middle Kindgom — where Leonardo DiCaprio is a huge star — is a big win for New Regency, which only had to cut 90 seconds or less to clear Chinese censors Alejandro G. Inarritu's tough frontier epic The Revenant is making headlines in China, opening to a strong $33 million over the weekend in a testament to Leonardo DiCaprio's enduring popularity in the Middle Kingdom. "It's fantastic. It speaks to Leo's star power and I think the expansion of the marketplace in China," New Regency president-CEO Brad Weston told The Hollywood Reporter. New Regency announced the China release date following the movie's Academy Award wins last month in the best actor, director and cinematography categories. New Regency arranged the China rollout itself, partnering with Guangdong Alpha Animation and Culture. Fox released The Revenant everywhere else on behalf of New Regency. Thanks to the late run in China, where the pic played in regular theaters and Imax locations, The Revenant is now assured of crossing the $500 million mark worldwide, a big win for New Regency, considering the film's tough subject matter. Through Sunday, it has earned $483.2 million globally, including $181.2 million in North America (it has yet to open in Japan). Beloved in China, DiCaprio — who attended the movie's official premiere there on Sunday — has been fondly known as Xiao Li, or "Little Leo," since 1997's Titanic. Less than 90 seconds were cut from the film in order to gain clearance from Chinese censors

March 21, 20169 yr Thanks ALL for the amazing updates. I'm really happy with Revenant box office reaching 500 million, the movie and everyone involved in this project deserves this. And then the film Leo chose to do won all these awards, most importantly getting him an Oscar. And then exceeded box office expectations in a big way. Leo was already at the top of the industry before all of this, but I'd say this boosted his perceived star power and judgement even more. I also love, that he never needed to be in a superhero film to be successful. That adds to the impressiveness.
