New Billboard Urges Oscar Voters to Consider 'Wolf of Wall Street' -- 'Because It's Awesome'

 

Hoping that "Wolf" will play the spoiler in the best picture and best actor Oscar races, Paramount has four massive billboards going up around Hollywood, three of which make serious proclamations and one of which goes for laughs.

The best picture Oscar race is a three-horse competition among 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle and Gravity, and the best actor race has already been won by Dallas Buyers Club'sMatthew McConaughey? Don't tell that to Paramount Pictures, the studio behind MartinScorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street and its leading man, Leonardo DiCaprio, which has decided to make a major play for wins in the best picture and best actor categories -- not least of all by putting up four massive billboards around Hollywood on Tuesday as part of an effort to remind voters how much they liked the film and DiCaprio's performance.

While three of the billboards make serious proclamations -- "THE MOVIE OF OUR TIME," "BOLD BRAVE CLASSIC" and "HIS BEST PERFORMANCE EVER" (featuring a picture of DiCaprio) -- a fourth, which can be seen at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and La Cienega Boulevard in Hollywood, is more tongue-in-cheek and, to me at least, laugh-out-loud funny. Over an image of DiCaprio and best supporting actor nominee Jonah Hill celebrating, it simply proclaims: "BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME."

In fact, in nine of the past 10 years, the winner of the best edited dramatic feature Eddie has gone on to win the Oscar in editing. Additionally, in six of the past 10 years the winner in the ACE category for best edited dramatic or comedy/musical feature went on to win the Oscar for best picture

I think she was just being sarcastic with "the remember the time" thing, because I'm seeing a few different things from this screening popping up on instagram within the past 30 minutes (shoutout to those who can grab them ) 

 

Of course it could be something they were asked to keep secret and can share now IDK, but I think its from tonight
