IDK if this is accurate or not but this article says The Revenant will be in limited release December 15th, and not December 25th.

Leonardo Dicaprio is teaming up with the Sons of Anarchy writer Marco J. Ramirez for an adaptation of the Japanese manga classic Akira. DiCaprio will produce under the Appian Way banner with American Sniper's Andrew Lazar also joining the team.

Meanwhile, DiCaprio will next star in Oscar winner Alejandro González Iñárritu's The Revenant, about frontiersman Hugh Glass, who in the 1820s set out on a path of vengeance against those who left him for dead after a bear mauling. Tom Hardy and Domhnall Gleeson co-star. The film is set for an initial limited release on December 15, 2015.

Also, tks, for Akira article , as to Revenant limited release date 12/15 , like you, I don't know if that is truly accurate date, but I do know that they just announced that Tarantino's new film Hateful Eight will be released on 12/25 , so , maybe the studio felt it would be better for Academy/award voters/audiences to have limited release on different date

That's more than likely the reason. Good, because I wouldn't want to see it open against a Tarrantino film.

In regards to those two last pics.. In one he's wearing the newsboy cap and in the other the baseball cap. I guess these days baseball caps (more specifically that Michigan cap) are his go to look when casually out and about, but the newsboy cap comes back when he's in a more fancy/ high profile setting
