Tks for articles and Darby tweet :)

As to Oscar article can this person really think that Matthew M would be nominated for Magic Mike ??

Fash

Tks for vid :)

Like others have said the interview may be recent , but she says she was hired to cater Leo's 23rd birthday party, so we know the event wasn't recent , and like others have said, he may have been a vegetarian then, but we know he didn't stay one :p

Barbie

Thanks girls .

Welcome, Crazylady.

Mathew MacConaughey?

The problem isn't Mathew being nominated (although I don't consider him a great actor, he's just good - he did well in "We Are Marshall" and I liked him in "The Lincoln Lawyer")... but the film for which he's being considered. "Magic Mike", for real?

Tks for Soho tweet :)

As to Matthew , from what I read he gave a terrific performance in Killer Joe, so I can understand an Oscar predictor thinking that he might get some award notice for that performance, but not for Magic Mike unless his talent was dancing bare chested :p

The Boston Author Behind “Mystic River” and “Shutter Island” Talks About His New Book & More Films Featuring Hollywood Stars

When it comes to gangsters and outlaws, author Dennis Lehane has no remorse for people like John Connolly, the corrupt FBI agent accused of enabling murders at the hands of South Boston mob boss James “Whitey” Bulger.

“Someone like that deserves to be savagely raped in prison everyday of his life,” said the best-selling author, during a discussion about outlaws, moral issues and how they relate to his new gangster novel “Live By Night.”

Lehane said the main character in his latest work, Joe Coughlin, isn’t a “good guy,” but he knows it—and that is the difference between Joe and corrupt officials like Connolly trying to portray something they are not.

“Connolly had a badge. Connolly claimed to be something, and that’s really revolting,” he said. “[The characters in the book] are guys who reject societies rules, say we won’t be part of the grid, but we won’t ask for your help, and all we represent is people who refuse to tow the line.”

A Dorchester native and Brookline resident, Lehane read an excerpt from “Live By Night,” the gangster tale that takes place in the 1920’s, during an appearance at Porter Square Books in Cambridge on Saturday.

Lehane is known for his best-selling works like “Mystic River,” “Shutter Island” and “Gone, Baby Gone,” all of which were later turned into major-motion pictures featuring stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn.

Much like many of his novels, “Live By Night” begins in Boston, but later shifts to Florida, tracking the rum trade and trail during the prohibition era.

Lehane said he wanted to write a gangster novel since he was a child. He chose the “rum route” of alcohol coming from Florida to Boston because every other gangster tale dealt with whiskey.

“I wanted to do something that hadn’t been done before,” he said. “Nobody has done rum…so I went, ‘there is my story, I am going to do prohibition with a Latin spice.’”

The first chapters sat on his shelves for two years before he finally picked them up again, he said.

“Then I wrote the story in four months,” Lehane said, drawing shocked gasps from fans in the audience.

Lehane told the Cambridge crowd that a reader recently approached him complaining that while the new novel was good, it took too long “to get going.”

After reading the first few sentences of the book on Saturday, which begins with a character being prepared to be thrown over board a boat by gangsters, Lehane joked “How much faster can you start a novel. Seriously. Um, he was thrown out of a plane?”

His constant quips and remarks, which were tainted with his slight Dorchester accent, kept the audience engaged for over an hour as he took questions about what it takes to create a novel and where he finds his muse.

Lehane also talked about the studios in Hollywood and how they have already purchased the rights to “Live by Night”— something that didn’t surprise him.

“Hollywood is the dog that follows the tail,” he said. “The bidding war on this was insanity. The hunger for it—they don’t even friggin’ read the thing, they just want it.”

Lehane said the rights were bought by DiCaprio’s company and the Hollywood star wants to play the leading role in the film’s adaptation.

“It’s good [news]. I like the Leo business. I have been there before,” said Lehane.

"Oscars: Can Anyone Beat Philip Seymour Hoffman To Best Supporting Actor?"

Please, tell me that's not truth and that Leo is the only favorite actor in the Oscar race for best supporting actor? :anger: :hiro:

It seems that always may appear someone with high chances to get it when Leo's in the race for an Oscar. <_< I'm sick of it!! :bellazon:

Ok,now i'm feeling better. :p
