December 26, 201311 yr Okay that's it, time for a winter break, four defeats on the spin and we haven't scored in 6 out of 9 home games this season. I mean even an already jaded old bore like me can't help but be dumbfounded by such ineptitude. Today Palace would have battered us were it not for Guzan but hey its all relative, they won anyway, chuckle chuckle. And of course tis the season so another game at Fortress Villa Park in two days time! Sort it out, Lambert/players/Randy!
January 2, 201411 yr We showed great resilience to scrap for a win at Everton and snatch a point against Cardiff, but if ever there was a game to expose the inherent lack of quality and depth in the squad, that was it. Villa were deserved winners and our makeshift back four wobbled against Benteke and Agbonlahor (who almost always seems to save his best for games against us) throughout. Cattermole, with his first assist in two years, was the pick of the clowns, while Fletcher looked about as sharp as a pair of flares with pockets in the knees. January will be a huge month, both on and off the pitch. The fact that we're not yet cut adrift suggests that we still have an outside chance of survival, but if a late surge is going to happen, it's going to have to happen bloody quickly.
January 2, 201411 yr Win-win situation for the 'Baby-Faced Assassin' in his first Premier League gig. Succeed and he's a miracle worker, crash and burn and the exuberant Tan Man takes the blame.

Its hard not to see similarities between the two sides, chiefly that both are much more designed to counter attack than dictate the play. There's been some derision about our possession stats in recent games but the truth is that us having 52% possession is largely a waste of time, we're just not good enough to make it count. In the end for all the huff and puff it was clear when Sunderland were all out of ideas and I thought our back line stood firm (though I fear Luna is a disaster waiting to happen). It'll be interesting to see what business Poyet will conduct in the window, that Fulham game right after the cup semi-final looks pivotal at the moment.
January 2, 201411 yr Win-win situation for the 'Baby-Faced Assassin' in his first Premier League gig. Succeed and he's a miracle worker, crash and burn and the exuberant Tan Man takes the blame. The longest serving Premier League managers list... 1) Wenger2) Pardew3) Allardyce (watch this space?)4) Rodgers5) Lambert Rodgers was appointed the day before Lambert but they're basically the bloody old guard at this point!
January 3, 201411 yr Lot of talk about diving going on. Wonder if the media will turn inward and look at the ex-player brigade they employ whom all without batting an eyelid continue to defend the act of cheating. Nahhhh.
January 6, 201411 yr Thank you, Big Sam and thank you Rolls Moyes for taking Villa's pathetic but utterly inevitable FA Cup clanger out of focus.
January 6, 201411 yr RIP Eusebio. Win-win situation for the 'Baby-Faced Assassin' in his first Premier League gig. Succeed and he's a miracle worker, crash and burn and the exuberant Tan Man takes the blame. I'm certainly not one for lamenting the impatience of mad foreign owners, or pining for a time when a manager had five years to make a pig's ear of his job instead of five months, but the current culture of quick dismissals at the first sign of trouble does make it potentially difficult to separate those who know what they're doing from those who don't. If the new generation (Clarke, Mackay, Poyet etc) are never given the chance to overcome adversity, how can we ever really find out if they're up to much?

Wonder if the media will turn inward and look at the ex-player brigade they employ whom all without batting an eyelid continue to defend the act of cheating. Nahhhh.Good thing there are no divers at Chelsea. Wink wink! Thank you, Big Sam and thank you Rolls Moyes for taking Villa's pathetic but utterly inevitable FA Cup clanger out of focus. At least when the chop comes from Sullivan and Gold, 'Allardici' will be free to take one of those jobs he believes are more suited to his talents. Europe's elite, form an orderly queue!I can also wholeheartedly recommend Di Canio to 'Ammers fans everywhere.
January 8, 201411 yr People are laughing alright Moyesy, but not at officials. Far too soon to be dreaming of Wembley of course, nice though to see the lads play with energy and drive once in a while, and to be in with a chance in a fortnight’s time. If only we could start reproducing this form in the league.
January 13, 201411 yr I'd suggest West Ham have it all to do in the second leg! I hear second leg tickets are priced at £42. Good luck with that, Hammers!
