what do you guys think of Rings of Power? I am doing the 7th Tolkien book (unfinished tales). IMHO for all of Tolkien's merits and importance to the fantasy drama, his main shortfall is in creating deep characters outside of the excellent Hobbits. He is much better at world building/story structure than a character writer. GRRM and Sapkowski are modern authors and are both a lot better than him at writing great characters. I think there is potential for really talented people to energize the LOTR franchise with additions of their own, in particular in the area of character. Whether or not Amazon has accomplished this remains to be seen.
Thaler is a really underrated character. Hilarious and memorable. He is big in Witcher 1 and has short, but really good content in W3. 'Farewell' also has him send a message.

What makes them unusual is that if legit- and not Russian propaganda, they disclose a casualty leak on the Ukrainian armed forces. - Ukrainian combat units an average of 43-48% strength. - 191,000 casualties (KIA and WIA, not including MIA) for the Armed Forces of Ukraine These numbers are approx. what I expected. Minimum 200 killed a day for the first 162 days of the war is 32,400 dead, times 6 to include wounded and the sum total is 194,400 casualties. (KIA and WIA, no MIA) However I do not know if "AFU" includes territorial defense, national guard, and other Ukrainian paramilitary formations which constituted approx. half of pre-war land forces (320, 000) men.
