  1. This has been going on right now with the 4 HIMARS guided MLRS launchers. Lockheed Martin is getting a lot of press over their use and potential orders. At the same time this covers up news the massive Russian artillery offensive as people focus on the claimed results of 4 launchers... Now there will be more HIMARS for Ukraine from the US HIMARS - Google Search The Russian version of the HIMARS is the Uragan, which also uses guided projectiles at a 70KM range. Maybe Lockheed Martin's projectiles are better/newer but certainly the Uragan and other larger Russian launchers are several times cheaper. BM-27 Uragan - Wikipedia Before it the other 'game changers' were the Turkish drones, switchblade drones, and US howitzers. The US howitzers and Turkish drones underperformed in Ukraine and took very high losses. Most of the US howitzers are no longer operational as of June according to Ukraine's land forces logistics General. The problem with the howitzers was they kept on getting knocked by Russian counter-battery fire. Not surprising as the Russians have between 10-6 to 1 superiority in shells and rockets. + unfortunately, I haven't seen Lord of War. There has definitely been exposes about these practices, and also what really goes on with the IMF.

  7. I believe that a really great LOTR prequel is possible if it is based on the Silmarillion and other side stories like Children of Hurin. However everything depends on the skill of the writing team and their ability to replicate Tolkien. A key aspect of the Peter Jackson trilogy is that a lot of the 'new' character interactions, dialogue, scenarios were actually repurposed text from Tolkien, so it sounded organic to the story. Witcher 3's writing, design, acting, and art was a complete success but the Netflix show was a failure. I am currently inclined to the latter being the case with LOTR but hopefully more will come out to prove me wrong. The odd and depressing part (besides the questionable casting and changes from male to female) is that Amazon only got the rights for the appendices. Literally just paragraphs. This is really bizarre, and I wonder if it would greatly constrain their flexibility.
  8. The Rings of Power in the Second Age About 500 years into the Second Age, Sauron reappeared,[T 17] intent on taking over Middle-earth and ruling it as a God-King.[T 4][T 15][T 21][T 22] To seduce the Elves into his service, Sauron assumed a fair appearance as Annatar, "Lord of Gifts",[T 13] befriended the Elven-smiths of Eregion, led by Celebrimbor, and counselled them in arts and magic. With Sauron's assistance, the Elven-smiths forged the Rings of Power. He then secretly forged the One Ring, to rule all other rings, in the volcanic Mount Doom in Mordor.[T 15] The Elves detected his influence when he put on the One Ring, and removed their Rings. Enraged, Sauron initiated a great war and conquered much of the land west of Anduin. Sauron overran Eregion, killed Celebrimbor, and seized the Seven and the Nine Rings of Power. The Three Rings were saved by the Elves, specifically Gil-galad, CĂrdan, and Galadriel. Sauron besieged Imladris, battled Khazad-dĂ»m and LothlĂłrien, and pushed further into Gil-galad's realm. The Elves were saved when a powerful army from NĂșmenor arrived to their aid, defeating Sauron's forces and driving the remnant back to Mordor. Sauron fortified Mordor and completed the Dark Tower of Barad-dĂ»r. He distributed the remaining rings of the Seven and the Nine to lords of Dwarves and Men, respectively. Dwarves proved too resilient to bend to his will, but he enslaved Men as the NazgĂ»l, his most feared servants. Orcs and Trolls became his servants, along with Easterlings and men of Harad.[T 4] Downfall of NĂșmenor Further information: The Silmarillion § AkallabĂȘth Toward the end of the Second Age, Ar-PharazĂŽn, king of NĂșmenor, led a massive army to Middle-earth. Sauron surrendered, to corrupt NĂșmenor from within.[T 23][T 3] With the One Ring, Sauron soon dominated the NĂșmenĂłreans.[T 23] He used his influence to undermine the religion of NĂșmenor, making people worship Melkor with human sacrifice; Sauron was his high priest.[T 3][T 24] Sauron convinced Ar-PharazĂŽn to attack Aman by sea to steal immortality from the Valar.[T 3][T 15] The Valar laid down their guardianship of the world and appealed to Eru.[T 3] Eru destroyed the attacking fleet and armies, but also drowned NĂșmenor, which was removed from the physical world, and destroyed Sauron's body, with his ability to appear beautiful.[T 23] War of the Last Alliance Led by Elendil, nine ships carrying faithful NĂșmenĂłreans were saved from the Downfall; they founded the kingdoms of Gondor and Arnor in Middle-earth. Sauron returned to Mordor; Mount Doom again erupted.[T 25] Sauron captured Minas Ithil and destroyed the White Tree; Elendil's son Isildur escaped down the Anduin. AnĂĄrion defended Osgiliath and for a time drove Sauron's forces back to the mountains.[T 13] Isildur and AnĂĄrion formed an alliance and defeated Sauron at Dagorlad. They invaded Mordor and laid siege to Barad-dĂ»r for seven years. Finally Sauron came out to fight Elendil and Gil-galad face to face.[T 15] When Elendil fell, his sword Narsil broke beneath him. Isildur took up the hilt-shard of Narsil and cut the One Ring from Sauron's hand, vanquishing Sauron. Elrond and CĂrdan, Gil-galad's lieutenants, urged Isildur to destroy the Ring by casting it into Mount Doom, which would have banished Sauron from Middle-earth for ever, but he refused and kept it for his own.[T 13]
  9. Some of the environments depicted are VERY similar to those in Elden Ring. Two Trees of Valinor | The One Wiki to Rule Them All | Fandom Overall I like the backgrounds and set design shown in the teaser.
  10. I see what you mean, as stuff like this can happen. It appears to be happening to Poland right now. Poland is buying a lot of US gear now, particularly expensive US M1 Abrams tanks, HIMARs MLRS, PATRIOT AA, etc. while offloading the legacy Soviet gear (T-72 etc) to Ukraine. This benefits US arms manufacturers but is not necessarily economical for Poland... with large scale warfare having more equipment is more important than small or zero tactical gains from equipment that costs several times more per unit. It seems like the Republicans consider China the #1 threat (economic and military) and the Democrats consider the Russians the #1 threat (military). From following this war it appears that China is adopting a semi-neutral stance towards Russia.
  11. which models besides Kate Bock and Kara? Here is another one from this year
  12. whole thing!
  13. There is also earlier stuff, it seems like she got leaner and leaner as the years went by. Her sister also has a model level figure.
  14. She basically looks like a model. I am thinking that Duchess Anna and Triss both look like Madison Headrick. Maybe there is a model that looks more like Triss than her.
  15. A tally of Russian MOD claims of degrading Ukrainian units in the Donbass 7/15- 7/19. Like the previous post I focus on the claimed human losses and ignore material losses. They claim up to 1200 Ukrainian casualties in this period. It looks like the whole period of 7/5- 7/15 was one of the heaviest firestorms by the Russians of this war, with claimed Ukr human losses in the thousands. There were heavy air, missile, and artillery attacks on all fronts. Afterwards, it seems have lessened a lot in intensity. The Russians only executed a general offensive for two days, then they halted and started opening fire again.
