Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Got to see it earlier today. I'm aware that a lot of people haven't had the chance to go yet so I'll keep it as vague as I possibly can, but I'm happy to report that everything about it just hit the mark for me. The story is a bit of a slow burner with a very economical approach to action, which I personally prefer, but the fight scenes that were there were superbly done. The plot worked like a Swiss watch, the development for the supporting characters was better than that of main characters in most films and the dialogue was sparkling. I'm pretty sure it's my favourite MCU effort to date.

All three are available, so it's just a question of which you prefer.

Football
It wouldn’t be Spurs without that trademark Spursy element, although in fairness, it was never really theirs to lose. I'd be lying if I said I cared for Leicester's style of play or some of the characters in their squad, but ultimately, when it's down to you to seize the points and you do it more than everyone else, you're the champions and deserving of everything that brings.

Sara Sampaio
The impression I get from the Maxim cover is that their staff spent ages trying to drop poor old Sara into one of those portable dunk tanks you sometimes see at carnivals. Far be it from me to complain about the results, though.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 (2017)
Sounds good. I had no idea that Wonder Man was ever affiliated with the Guardians team, but as anyone who saw 'Firefly' will attest, Fillion can do the rugged spacefaring thing standing on his head.

Sorry, we already have a member by that name too. Is there another name you'd like, or perhaps a variation on one of your original choices?

Last movie you saw...
In fairness, although none of my initial gripes with 'Revenant' have really changed, I read something much later that made me consider the ending in a completely different way. I'd be lying if I said I've ever felt the need to watch the whole thing again from start to finish, but I must admit, I've warmed to it a little bit more now.

Football
If it's all the same Fred, I'll hedge for a few more weeks on the potential new thread title, as I could still find myself inhabiting that particular Emporium by then. I've probably seen about a dozen promotions and relegations while following my club, and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that football supporters will forgive a multitude of quality-related sins. But when a player admits that he wasn’t really that committed and, by extension, not that bothered about results, it doesn't just speak volumes about their lack of pride or ambition in their own job, it's also an insult to the folks who pay north of £40 to watch it every other week. That the likes of Lescott seem unable or unwilling to grasp such things only goes to show how detached from reality they must be. Hopefully, Villa now put a decent coach in place (i.e. not Eric Black), boot out the big time charlies who've been stealing a wage, promote the best of the youngsters and acquire a few decent summer signings.

Sorry, but someone's already registered that username. Would you like to choose another?

The "What Are You Thinking About Right Now?" PIP
Interesting stuff. It makes sense that Matt Damon is being mentioned, considering Affleck's affiliation with DC now. Now that I think about it though, I'd have no problem seeing Rayner swapped out for Gardner. If they ever went down the road of Jordan falling from grace or something bad happening to the Corps, they could bring Kyle in later on for a sort of torchbearer/underdog role. With tons of fun background content, aliens and magic, emotional spectrum and colourful characters, it’s a franchise that could and should be so easy to get right. All they need really is for someone to see its potential.

General Celebrity Gossip
Reports coming in at the moment that Prince has died at his home in Minneapolis. He was apparently hospitalised last weekend after suffering from extreme flu symptoms, but still this was unexpected. One of the greatest acts ever. http://pitchfork.com/news/64848-prince-dead-at-57/

Star Wars: The Force Awakens
As the old saying goes (and I'm sure Abrams must have heard this before), the more you tighten your grip, the more star systems slip through your fingers. I suppose to be fair, the really silly thing about the Khan twist was that it meant so little to the actual storyline. At least when the the time comes for Rey's big reveal, it'll be a self-contained thing that has real influence on her character arc.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens
What with old JJ swearing up and down that Khan wasn't in 'Star Trek Into Darkness' a few years ago, I'd probably have judged the initial quote about Rey's origins with a sizeable grain of salt, with or without the clarification.

Thanks @Shepherd. Various short clips from the movie have been released over the last week or so. Here's one in which Team Downey Jr (if I'm honest, I'm still a bit confused about where some of the characters' allegiances lie at the moment) take on Bucky.- Football
This Barca side looks to be out on its feet at the moment. Not a bad performance by any means, but when there's fatigue in the legs, the cutting edge up front is always the first thing to disappear. Now it's anybody's league, really. I don't see any of the three contenders winning all five remaining matches. I expect Roy Hodgson would have been following the latest chapter of the Jamie Vardy 'fairytale' with a modicum of concern. Apart from anything else, we’ve already got that angle covered in the England squad with Wayne Rooney. When players stop diving, cheating and appealing for decisions that, like Vardy, they're well aware they don’t deserve, criticise referees by all means. Between that and lovely old Robbie Savage, a national broadcaster no less, advising Norwich's players to intimidate and make the most of every contact to try and wangle a penalty after the referee (correctly) awarded one to us in the first half, it really goes to show what impossible jobs the likes of Jon Moss have these days.- Football
La Liga being blown wide open again might give City a slight advantage there, perhaps subject to what happens over the next fortnight or so and whether or not Madrid are still fighting on two fronts. You have to wonder what Guardiola would do if Bayern reached the Champions League final and met a City team incapable of finishing in the Premier League top four. Play himself in goal, probably.- Football
No awkward date with Pep for Man City just yet, then. It's the best available draw from City's perspective, but to be fair, it's probably the best draw for Real Madrid too. I can't imagine that they would have relished facing Bayern or, considering their recent dogfights, Atletico over two legs either.- Football

You definitely wouldn't regret that. Now that I think about it, I'd quite like to give it another watch one of these days. I actually feel pretty gung-ho about a superhero crossover adaptation of it now, too. - Unpopular opinions
