  1. Sorry, but someone's already registered that username. Would you like to choose another?
  2. Interesting stuff. It makes sense that Matt Damon is being mentioned, considering Affleck's affiliation with DC now. Now that I think about it though, I'd have no problem seeing Rayner swapped out for Gardner. If they ever went down the road of Jordan falling from grace or something bad happening to the Corps, they could bring Kyle in later on for a sort of torchbearer/underdog role. With tons of fun background content, aliens and magic, emotional spectrum and colourful characters, it’s a franchise that could and should be so easy to get right. All they need really is for someone to see its potential.
  3. Reports coming in at the moment that Prince has died at his home in Minneapolis. He was apparently hospitalised last weekend after suffering from extreme flu symptoms, but still this was unexpected. One of the greatest acts ever. http://pitchfork.com/news/64848-prince-dead-at-57/
  4. As the old saying goes (and I'm sure Abrams must have heard this before), the more you tighten your grip, the more star systems slip through your fingers. I suppose to be fair, the really silly thing about the Khan twist was that it meant so little to the actual storyline. At least when the the time comes for Rey's big reveal, it'll be a self-contained thing that has real influence on her character arc.
  5. What with old JJ swearing up and down that Khan wasn't in 'Star Trek Into Darkness' a few years ago, I'd probably have judged the initial quote about Rey's origins with a sizeable grain of salt, with or without the clarification.

The Spurs forward line will get all the plaudits after that mauling, but seriously, how did Alderweireld not make the Player of the Year shortlist?
  8. Last but not least, a new recruit for El Capitan.
  9. Another one, in which the Avengers gang discuss all manner of pertinent superhero type stuff. I simply cannot handle Vision's casual clothing choices.
  10. Thanks @Shepherd. Various short clips from the movie have been released over the last week or so. Here's one in which Team Downey Jr (if I'm honest, I'm still a bit confused about where some of the characters' allegiances lie at the moment) take on Bucky.

This Barca side looks to be out on its feet at the moment. Not a bad performance by any means, but when there's fatigue in the legs, the cutting edge up front is always the first thing to disappear. Now it's anybody's league, really. I don't see any of the three contenders winning all five remaining matches. I expect Roy Hodgson would have been following the latest chapter of the Jamie Vardy 'fairytale' with a modicum of concern. Apart from anything else, we’ve already got that angle covered in the England squad with Wayne Rooney. When players stop diving, cheating and appealing for decisions that, like Vardy, they're well aware they don’t deserve, criticise referees by all means. Between that and lovely old Robbie Savage, a national broadcaster no less, advising Norwich's players to intimidate and make the most of every contact to try and wangle a penalty after the referee (correctly) awarded one to us in the first half, it really goes to show what impossible jobs the likes of Jon Moss have these days.

La Liga being blown wide open again might give City a slight advantage there, perhaps subject to what happens over the next fortnight or so and whether or not Madrid are still fighting on two fronts. You have to wonder what Guardiola would do if Bayern reached the Champions League final and met a City team incapable of finishing in the Premier League top four. Play himself in goal, probably.

No awkward date with Pep for Man City just yet, then. It's the best available draw from City's perspective, but to be fair, it's probably the best draw for Real Madrid too. I can't imagine that they would have relished facing Bayern or, considering their recent dogfights, Atletico over two legs either.

I can't honestly say I've found a great deal to enjoy in the footballing world over these last few months, but it would be quite fun if Pellegrini won the Champions League in his last action before being 'upgraded'.
  15. So, the new season of 'Sherlock' looks pretty odd.
  16. You definitely wouldn't regret that. Now that I think about it, I'd quite like to give it another watch one of these days. I actually feel pretty gung-ho about a superhero crossover adaptation of it now, too.
  17. You blew it, Cardiff City fans! (4:56)
  18. You're a thousandaire already? That's pretty darn impressive. Congrats Stromboli!
  19. This is how I see the Joker's seduction of Harley going now.
  20. I do at least like the fact that they're not CGI-ing it to death. David Ayer confirmed a while ago that he's trying to do as many stunts and action set-pieces as possible using old school practical effects, which should be an aid to getting in good with the critics.
  21. New trailer landed last night. I get the feeling that if the promo material gives us an accurate feel of the tone and direction, then we won't be getting much more than a casually entertaining action/dark comedy flick. There's a long time until the release date though, and parts of the film are most probably being reworked as we approach it. 'Bohemian Rhapsody' followed by 'Ballroom Blitz' - whoever's in charge of picking the soundtrack for this is obviously a huge fan of 'Wayne's World'.
  22. When I first heard about this, I was a bit worried that it would end up resembling a straight to video sequel. What a relief then, to see such a promising teaser that looks and feels like the real deal. Whoever picked out the locations has done a superb job, they're completely nailing the aesthetic. I can't wait to find out how that subway platform-looking thing is going to come into play.
  23. For some reason, we Brits are being made to wait until the middle of April. I'm secretly hoping that there might still be time for another random showing of it at my nearest cinema, but I'll be picking the DVD up at some point too.
  24. I think there's room for the Avengers approach and the Dark Knight approach, but I don't see anything wrong with aiming somewhere in between. Take a guy like Captain America, who has more or less the same values and disposition as Superman. Making the character work in ‘Winter Soldier’ (a movie with some really dark themes) was as simple as having him keep his optimism in the face of very dangerous circumstances. Snyder seems to mistake audiences wanting less grim heroes for audiences wanting lighthearted family comedy, which is a huge misconception. Besides, BvS didn't just lack humour, it lacked structure and direction in its storytelling. My last hope for the Justice League movie now is that they do something really different with Ezra Miller's Flash, because at this rate it's just going to be Wonder Woman and six angsty anti-heroes. Without a few contrasting personalities, there'll be no fun to be had.
