The Death of Stalin (2017)
I'm always impressed by Iannucci's work, and this looks like it's very much in his wheelhouse, even though he's presumably only adapting from source material. Powerful people expressing their hypocrisy, vanity and incompetence is his speciality.

Wonder Woman (2017)
That's great news, presumably it's now only a matter of time before it reaches that 800m mark worldwide. My only worry now is that the out of touch suits at Warners somehow manage to twist all this into "Wonder Woman got great reviews, but didn't outgross Batman v Superman or Suicide Squad, and both got terrible reviews. Let's focus on what makes the most money from now on." Because if there's one thing I've learned from Hollywood, it's to always expect them to learn the wrong lesson.

I guess I was late to the party, because it looks like you're well on the way to 11k. Congratulations for this milestone and the next.

Ghost in the Shell (2017)
Hopefully not. I still think Blade Runner could go either way, but I've more faith in Villeneuve than I had in Sanders, who, although he was clearly very good at creating sci-fi visuals, had a hard time avoiding that slippery slope of homage/pastiche/imitation.

The Avengers, Age of Ultron, Infinity War & Endgame (2012-2019)
Dunno if anyone saw this at the time, but just in case, here's the three-part Infinity War poster unveiled by Marvel at SDCC. Thanos looking rather like an angry purple version of Bruce Willis, Chris Evans looking a lot like Solid Snake.

Ghost in the Shell (2017)
A lot of salient points raised there. I felt like the homage scenes in particular were really misguided. They were presumably meant to be included as a concession to the hardcore fans, but the attempt to then wrangle them into another narrative was just so far off-base. I wish they'd captured more of what makes the animated movie compelling, and then changed things around just enough to justify a retelling. Either they didn't analyse the story in full, or didn't have faith in the philosophical stuff. What we were left with wasn't faithful enough to be a straight-up remake, and too derivative to be its own thing.

General Celebrity Gossip
If I had to guess, I would say it's probably that exact dynamic change that may have killed it. Not only did Chris become a bigger star than Anna, he undoubtedly became one of Hollywood's biggest stars. Meanwhile, Anna had gone on record a few years ago saying that she preferred Chris when he was heavier. So one can easily imagine a very significant shift in their relationship happening, and things just not working out any more.

General Celebrity Gossip
The Emoji Movie notwithstanding, of course. I'd probably be tempted to divorce my wife too if she was in that.

General Celebrity Gossip
I don't believe in nothing no more. I'm going to law school! Seriously though, I'm usually not phased in the slightest by celebrity news but this, honestly, is a bit of a bummer.

Football
Takes me right back to my days playing the old Football Manager game, when Samba would get annoyed with me for not playing him up front and ask for a transfer. Do you think Hogan is going to work out, Fred? Clearly, he's a man in desperate need of a goal, but it seemed like most of the service he was receiving would have been better suited to more of a target man type.

Wonder Woman (2017)
I should add that I don't know of anywhere else where it's yet to debut, so I'd imagine we'll have a rough idea of the grand total fairly soon. Batman v Superman apparently took about 16m in Japan so if this does as well or better, it could be the shot in the arm needed to hit 800m worldwide. After that, there probably won't be much scope for expanding the numbers. Given the overall performance of this one though and the increased goodwill towards the character, the Wonder Woman sequel should be in with a very strong chance of reaching a billion.

Wonder Woman (2017)
It's possible, although I'm reliably informed that Wonder Woman is still to open in Japan, which I would have to think, since the worldwide takings are reportedly hovering around the 780m mark at the moment, would make it a lock to reach 800m at the very least. Only slightly short of taking over from Spider-Man '02 as the highest-grossing superhero origin story ever.

Marvel's The Inhumans
For a property incorporating things that are so visually out there, it's been looking fairly lacklustre for a while. ABC's production values won't have done much to help things and I suppose I shouldn't have been too surprised by that, because as much as I like some of the stories and character work in Agents of SHIELD, it really isn't a show that demonstrates great visual language or striking aesthetics when it comes to locations, costumes, set design and so on.

Marvel's The Inhumans
Another brief teaser has been released by Marvel, this time with Maximus and Medusa sharing a short scene.

Marvel's The Defenders
She's down for all eight episodes according to IMDB, as is Jessica Henwick who was one of the real highlights of Iron Fist. Add the presence of Rosario Dawson and this may be too much for my heart. The rest of the returning characters are: - Claire (6 episodes) - Foggy (4 episodes) - Gao (4 episodes) - Misty (4 episodes) - Trish (4 episodes) - Stick (3 episodes) - Malcolm (3 episodes) - Hogarth (3 episodes) - Karen (3 episodes) - Father Lantrom (1 episode) - Turk (1 episode) - Bakuto - Punisher

The Avengers, Age of Ultron, Infinity War & Endgame (2012-2019)
I think the expectation was that they would do the same with Carol as they did with T'Challa and Parker, with a back door introduction in one of the bigger ensemble pieces to launch the character. However, the recent reports of the Captain Marvel solo story being set in the nineties did seem to dampen that down a bit. I believe the Captain Marvel movie comes out two months prior to Avengers 4, though. So who knows, the end might see Danvers travel back to the present somehow.

In a perfect world, we would do it. Unfortunately, the cons of actually having the option would outweigh the pros.

The Avengers, Age of Ultron, Infinity War & Endgame (2012-2019)
No sign of Carol Danvers so far. I'll be interested to know when an official trailer is going to be released into the wild. I'd imagine probably within a month or so, pehaps with bits and pieces taken from this. Really though, I don't know why they didn't release it straight after showing it at Comic Con, because that way most people's first impression of Infinity War would have been a high quality trailer instead of a grainy piece of cam footage. In 2017, there's always a possibility of your stuff leaking, so why wouldn't you just get ahead of it and control the content?
