Mad Men
P.S. Pinky, thanks for posting stuff inside spoiler tags. Not sure if it's for my benefit specifically, but it's very much appreciated. All I have to do now is resist the temptation to click until the finale airs tonight.

Mad Men
Poor old Lane. Between his demise and Peggy's exit from the agency, I think there's a distinct divide emerging between those who get ahead and those who don't. The perceived 'outsiders' of the show (women, gay men, foreign interlopers etc) are always the ones who seem to fall by the wayside. Not a criticism of the show, just a sad observation of the times, I suppose. Also, Betty appears to be slowly morphing into Cybill Shepherd.

UEFA Euro 2012
^He's currently serving a two-game ban for a red card received in a Euro qualifier with Montenegro in October 2011. He'll be able to play again in the third group game against Ukraine. And speaking of Ukraine, what a fitting send-off for Shevchenko if, as expected, he decides to retire after the tournament. He may no longer have the pace but his movement is still rather magnificent.

UEFA Euro 2012
I doubt anyone's pulse would have been set racing by England's exploits, but it was certainly a disciplined, solid performance, and a point against the highly fancied French is not to be sniffed at. That'll do nicely for starters.

UEFA Euro 2012
Intriguing game between Italy and Spain, great to see Cassano looking so well after his recent health problems. A deserved win for Croatia too. If there's a striker in European football on a richer vein of form than Jelavic, I haven't seen him. Why Robbie Keane continues to play such a prominent role for Ireland when he's so obviously past his best is such a logic-buster. Much like Roy Hodgson, Trappatoni has a limited pool of players to pick from, but Shane Long's pace and running would surely have tested the shaky Corluka a lot more than Keane and the hard-working but non-scoring Doyle. Also, as evidenced by Steve Bruce's misguided early-season tactics for Sunderland in 2011, John O'Shea can't play at right full-back for toffee. And so attention turns to the England-France game. Gulp!

UEFA Euro 2012
Considering the array of attacking talent at their disposal last night, that was a ridiculously negative display from Portugal. Barely an improvement on their doomed approach at the World Cup. Totally contrasting fortunes for two of the most in-form strikers at the tournament, Van Persie and Gomez. The big man with the big quiff has become a real enigma to me. He lollops about the pitch looking completely disinterested for 70-odd minutes then all of a sudden busts out a header of such majestic quality. RVP on the other hand was constantly involved and had what could only be described as a stinker. Roll on Italy-Spain and Ireland-Croatia!

UEFA Euro 2012
So, a mere two fixtures into proceedings and I'm already enjoying this tournament more than the World Cup of 2010. Best to reserve proper judgement until they play one of the heavyweights, I suppose, but the Russians look every bit as good a watch as they were four years ago. Deadpan Q & A sessions on his official website aside, I haven't found Andrei Arshavin that entertaining in years. Also, *obscure reference alert* a photo of the first Papastathopoulos yellow card in the opening game would have made an excellent cover for a Panini sticker album in the late 80s.

UEFA Euro 2012
Somewhat belatedly, I hereby declare the topic for all Euro 2012 chat officially open! So, what do we think is going to happen? Will the Spanish keep up their phenomenal run of victories or will the Germans fufill their undoubted potential? Will Arjen Robben and Cristiano Ronaldo make a single pass between them? Will Roy Hodgson remember to pack Rooney's ritalin? Will Alan Shearer ever master the art of correct grammar? *Important looking info, fixtures etc will appear here when my computer decides to co-operate*

Loved seeing the green VW Beetle appear several times during episode 13's big car chase, ala Bullitt. Conclusive proof (as if any were needed) that JJ Abrams is a complete nerdlinger...

Mad Men
Just when I was starting to warm to Pete. What a plonker! :persuazn: For me, the recurring theme of S5 is Don becoming dreadfully out of touch, culminating this week in three utterly useless pitches. The first, to Joan, when the deed had already been done. The second, to Jaguar after the deal was sealed and, most significantly of all, to Peggy after grossly underappreciating her. Incidentally, I do hope we haven't seen the last of Peggy, it'd be a great shame if the show were to lose an actress of Elisabeth Moss's calibre.

Mad Men
I'm inclined to agree. Goshdarnit though, did the clothes ever get ugly fast in the mid-sixties... :yuckky: As funny as the image of Don Draper with sideburns might be, I think we should count our blessings that the show probably won't be continuing past 1969-ish.

Last movie you saw...
Everything Must Go. Turns out Will Ferrell can actually act a bit given the chance.

That moment in Haywire (you know, that one) was pretty exciting, even for a pacifist like myself.
