It's a charming musk It's never been exactly clear to me whether Kanye is part of the hipster problem or the hipster solution. Either way, the more the merrier in here.

As an Italy fan, I still have to say yes, even those old Brazil teams. It's a difficult thing to try and judge, I guess. Apart from anything else, the advantage of television nowadays means that almost no-one on Earth would have seen as much of Brazil 1970 as this generation has of the current Spain side. At the very least though, they deserve comparison with the greats of the past, which is rather awesome praise in itself.

It only really happened about 18 months ago but I guess in truth, Torres had been underperforming for a lot longer. He was dogged by all manner of knee injuries towards the end of his time at Liverpool and was well short of fitness at the 2010 World Cup, where David Villa took over as Spain's main striker. By the time he arrived at Chelsea, he looked slow, low on confidence and just generally incapable of recreating his best form. Consequently, his goalscoring prowess pretty much went down the toilet and the jokes started. These days you can see signs of improvement, though the recovery still looks far from complete. I suspect a move away from Chelsea would help no end.

Snake Swallower is probably a more plausible title than Revengeance, which (lest we forget) is actually going to be the name of a real game. Granted, MGS5 may be little more than a twinkle in Kojima's eye at this point, but I don’t see the performance of Revengeance having so much as the slightest influence on its release. Revengeance is an unknown quantity that promises to occupy a different genre, and the fact that it's been built solely around the MGS saga's answer to Jar Jar Binks is, if not a commercial death sentence, then certainly a disadvantage. It could hardly be seen as a stretch to imagine any chapter of Snake’s story generating a hell of a lot more interest from the fans.

Spain - S = PAIN! An awesome (if somewhat overdue) display of incisive passing from the Spanish, but by no means were Italy disgraced. I thought they were still in with an outside chance until they lost Motta, even at 2-0 down. So, best international side ever?

Here's a novel idea - a crackpot scheme by UEFA! Apparently Michel Platini is currently proposing a future championship without a host nation, with games held in multiple cities across Europe instead. It may or may not stem from UEFA's reluctance to let Turkey stage the tournament in addition to the Olympics in 2020. Champions League: International Edition? http://www.telegraph...-continent.html

I've never made any secret of my love of Mario and it's as much for the raw dynamism of his game as it is for his, shall we say, eccentricities. In my own humble opinion, the footballing world is in need of many more like him. I think the final will be a ridiculously tight affair. If we're lucky, it'll also be an absorbing one. I'll be most interested to see how Prandelli decides to utilise De Rossi this time around - the sweeper ploy worked well when the two teams met in the opening group game but since then he's looked to be the perfect foil for Pirlo in midfield. Spain I suspect will stick with the 4-5½-½ formation, with Fabregas starting. The Negredo experiment was an unmitigated disaster, I'd be shocked if we were to see him again.

Football, bloody hell! I would have expected Germany's faster, more aggressive style to set the pace of the game regardless of team selection, but that was some pretty odd stuff from Joachim Loew. He played neither Reus nor Muller and in trying to make room for the energetic but ineffective Kroos, he shoved Ozil (who had looked absolutely phenomenal operating behind a lone striker) in a wide role, creating a whole load of unnecessary disruption. Obviously, occupying Pirlo would be a priority for anyone but why wouldn't you simply give the job to the superb Khedira? And that Balotelli, more trouble than he's worth, eh?
