So word on the street is that STID will be receiving a mini-adventure prequel in comic book form. Apparently, it'll run for four issues and set the scene for the movie. For anyone interested, here be the cover of issue one...

^When Lambert gave Guzan a run in the side at the expense of the underperforming Given, it seemed to send out a message that automatic choices were a thing of the past at Villa, which can only be a good thing in the long run. I suppose the short-term downside of that philosophy is that until the transfer window reopens, you're always likely to be lumbered with at least one or two unmotivated high-earners who are surplus to requirements and consequently worse than useless if the time comes for them to get stuck in for the team. Is there still hope for Albrighton? I had him down as a star of the future after a storming game against us at the SoL a couple of years back.

^If and when the team is playing well I’d expect Johnson to be absolutely red hot, but whether he’s the type to make a difference in a stalemate game remains to be seen. Still, he was triple marked at times by the Wongaboys on Sunday and I can't imagine him ever receiving that kind of attention in his City days, where he'd have been the least of his opponents' worries. He's a big fish in a small pond now and will most probably need time to make the adjustment. We’ll need a lot more from him if we’re to avoid having our current lack of creativity become a detrimental sub-plot to the season, though. On the plus side, we’re playing terribly and not losing, which should bode well for when we really start firing. As long as we do start firing at some point, that is. From an outsider's perspective, it seems to be a similar story for Villa, with their better attacking players yet to deliver. How would you rate Lambert so far, Fred? Is he under pressure or is there cause for optimism?

Hands up who thought Demba Ba would be our second top scorer in the league by the end of October? Amusing own goal aside, we got away with one in a lousy mirror image of last season's game at the Sports Direct Arena. I've lost count of the number of times I've heard players say they're ready and raring to go before a derby match, only for them to turn in a tame, laboured performance like that. Our 'flair' players (namely Sessegnon, Johnson and McClean) are being carried - they must start playing better and very soon.
