From an outsider's perspective, Villa's transitional period appears to have dragged on for far too long, but with perhaps three or four quality acquisitions to slot straight into the first team and a more positive attitude from the board and the management, things could be looking a lot better by this time next year. As long as you steer clear of the kind of haphazard 'rip it up and start again, turn a bad team into a worse one' approach we seem to favour every summer, I suspect there'll almost always be at least eight worse teams in the Premier League.
  2. Here's the deleted scene from 'Avengers', in which Beth (the waitress) is captured by the Chitauri and rounded up with a bunch of other prisoners. It was eventually cut, presumably because of time constraints. I actually quite liked the actress who ended up playing the role, it would be nice if she were to get another little cameo in 'Ultron'.

Had it not been for poor finishing by the aforementioned (and otherwise superb) Mkhitaryan, Dortmund would have helped themselves to at least a four-goal victory, and fully deserved it. Champions League football at its best.

Here's everything I've learned from our seven seasons in the Premier League. Hopefully, Ellis will remember at least some of it for the future. Do everything humanly possible to hang on to your best forward players. If they demand a move, refuse. If you absolutely have to sell, invest in replacements with similar experience and quality. No signing numerous players from relegated sides all at once. Even if they look good on paper, they'll bring a losing mentality along with their boots.Relying on the loan market every year can be extremely hazardous. The players have less to lose than the ones you have under contract, and the ones who excel will never stay for longer than one season, because their more illustrious parent clubs will want them back.Avoid signing small armies of random players that your equally random director of football is mates with like the plague. When signing players from the South American leagues, assume that they won't look the part for at least six months (to be fair, this one actually happens at most clubs, just not ours).Big name managers with big reputations don't always guarantee success (McMenemy started it, O'Neill finished it).Don't invest large sums of money in young, inexperienced or untested players until you're already well established as a top ten side, and can afford to wait for them to develop.Make sure your pre-season is chock full of warm-up games so that the team always has a chance to gel before the first league game of the season.Beating your local rivals at home and away should not be taken as an indicator of how good your team is, especially when said local rivals are as absolutely dire as Newcastle.

    The art of falling apart.
  9. ^Thanks Raf. Perhaps Scarlett's stunt double was the part Lindsey Lohan was up for. Seriously though, I think if there was any truth whatsoever to the Lohan rumour, the most likely part for her would have been the waitress whose life was saved by Rogers during the battle. Supposedly, the role was originally meant to be a bit bigger than it ended up being, and it would better explain the 'unknown' comment. I'd have a hard time believing that anyone would see Lohan as a good fit for Maria Hill, or that no-one knows who Cobie Smulders is.
  10. Congratulations, here's to the next 4000!
  11. The Eniko collection is dynamite, thanks Andy.
  12. Not sure if the show's UK pace is ancient history for everyone else, but it's just returned to our screens after a seemingly never-ending break. I went to see 'The Winter Soldier' on the morning of the train episode and thus, was treated to two Stan Lee cameos on the same day.
  13. Further casting updates, though admittedly not as comical as some of the previous ones.
  14. A new Lana track just appeared online. It's thought to have been recorded for her second album 'Ultraviolence', but it won't apparently be included on the final tracklisting. http://youtu.be/MRTzxTi3ARM

  16. Thanks again Shepherd. A series of short featurettes for DOFP have appeared online. They're introduced by Bryan Singer, with new footage from the movie, interviews with members of the cast and general behind-the-scenes type stuff.
  17. So, that last page was almost certainly one of the greatest in the history of BZ. Thanks guys!

Burning through so much story during that terrific first run really came back to bite them, it was never quite the same afterwards because the main cast were all so hopelessly played out. I wouldn't mind seeing more though, as long as they can find a way to freshen things up. Looking back, 'Heroes' was probably the kind of thing that would have done well out of the anthology format, with a new cast introduced each year. Although I'd be tempted to keep someone like Bennet around for the reboot, to maintain some of the links to the old stuff.
  19. I feel your pain on that. When I went, we were the only ones in the whole place who stayed for the extras. Where on earth have these people been living? What did you think of the post and mid-credits scenes?
  20. Quite honestly, I’ve had that same thought about Samuel. Very effective casting, but little that touched base with Fury's print character. However of all his Marvel performances to date, this felt the most like watching Fury onscreen, rather than Jackson essentially just being Jackson (which of course is still fun to watch, but I digress ). His role is greatly expanded, and he has more material to sink his teeth into.
  21. Peggy was actually in it a lot less than I'd hoped. Early on in the story, she shares one extended scene with Steve in which she appears as an old lady, and makes a few very very brief appearances via flashback. All may be not be lost if you’re more a fan of Peggy’s younger self though, as from what I understand, a spin-off TV series built around some of her World War II adventures (still starring Hayley Atwell) is in the works.
