  1. @grendahl For some reason, I wasn't aware that this topic was here. May it be overlooked no longer.
  2. It's quite interesting to think back on how Trump's now-infamous "stand back, stand by" comment was interpreted by the various people involved. I myself always thought, from the moment I watched him say it at the debate, that it was really just his mouth blathering without his brain being engaged. Basically just saying the first words that tripped off his tongue with virtually no thought or consideration whatsoever as to their meaning.
  3. Sounds like the beginning of a Taika Waititi gag, it's completely insane that "look what I said and I'm still here" proved to be the punchline.
  4. With the obvious exception of Garfield, Space Jam is probably my favourite "what's Bill Murray doing in this" film. I've gotten used to it now. The first Suicide Squad didn't really work for me, but it does look like James Gunn gets the material in a way that David Ayer never quite seemed to, and I'm excited about the prospect of seeing Peter Capaldi let loose in a big-time blockbuster.
  5. Good. The only Mission Impossible film that I don't particularly care for is the second one. Tenet?
  6. I'm actually a bit surprised by the extent to which Lionsgate seems to believe in Quiet Place 2. Even after such lengthy delays, they're clearly dead set on a cinematic release. I swear, whichever studio manages, whether by design or simply by dumb luck, to predict the first legitimately safe weekend is going to clean up.
  7. That's right, that totally slipped my mind. I enjoyed that film a lot and Wesley Snipes was absolutely terrific as D'Urville Martin. I remember hoping that his performance would ignite a proper comeback, or that he would be the next actor to get the Tarantino comeback treatment, although the timing obviously wasn't great.
  8. I've yet to see the Netflix series, but it's a good film. Spectre?

    Dexter

Hey mate, long time. It's weird to think that they might undo the finale, since a lot of what happened in S8 was supposedly predicated on the fact that Showtime told them what they could and couldn't do, for the sole purpose of eventually doing this and bringing the show back. As much as they failed to stick the landing though, they'd run out of ideas years prior. The show peaked for me with the Trinity arc, which I think I'm right in thinking happened somewhere in the middle.
  10. I’ll be honest, the moment Wesley Snipes arrived in the trailer, I was all in on the character. Just everything about that general was great. Seems like the "must be a king" thing, which was what struck me the most about the last trailer, is going to form a big part of the story. Should be interesting to see how they resolve it.

    Dexter

I hadn't thought about this show for a long, long time before the news of it coming back broke towards the end of last year. A cursory glance online suggests that people in 2021 still really hate the finale.
  12. Yeah, plus I think with regard to the film categories in particular, the pool of potential nominees would have looked very uneven because so many high-profile releases have been pushed to later dates. So consequently, although there are still genuine standouts, they're being mentioned alongside some clearly unworthy stuff. I can't imagine any other year where something like Emily In Paris might get nominated, for example. That being said, I should think it'll get prodigiously trounced by Schitt's Creek.
  13. Good. Albeit I'm only at the halfway point so far. The Black Cauldron?
  14. Loud. It has "Man Down" on it. Why was "Macaroni" the best name Yankee Doodle could come up with for the feather in his hat?
  15. Not nearly as bad as it's made out to be, although there's a comic book adaptation of the movie script that I personally prefer. The Brady Bunch Movie?
  16. Nature is healing and I'm ready to complain bitterly about award nominations again. My impression of Mank was that it came and went without generating much excitement, it's been a bit surprising to see it so widely represented here. Truth be told though, my plan was to revisit Citizen Kane before watching and I've yet to get around to it. For what it's worth, I feel like Da 5 Bloods will get more attention at the Oscars, particularly given the "optics" of snubbing it in 2021.
  17. Good. Buffy the Vampire Slayer?
  18. The "first look" at the Joker has arrived, although weirdly it bears more of a resemblance to Joaquin Phoenix's version than Leto's.

    Football

Speaking of cringe comedy box sets, there's nothing like another delightful episode of "Newcastle" to help get us all through the lockdown.
  20. Could you point me in the right direction and I'll look into it.
  21. @FirstonTheMoon That does ring a bell, bear with me and I'll see if it's possible to locate.

    Football

Highlight of the season so far for me along with the exit of Graham, although unfortunately Danny's aspirations of finding first team football may have been knackered by the cancellation of the Northern League. Still though, the stage is surely set now for a Grigg-Graham Netflix spin-off series, perhaps even a feature-length buddy comedy adventure.
