A rather underwhelming start to the season then, but of course, one window was never going to be enough to turn us into an established side. Much prefer plodding along like this to what we were put through last year, we just have to be careful that the early-season draws don’t turn into defeats, like they did with O’Neill.

So we knew Peggy would be making an appearance of some sort in 'Agents', but thanks to TV Guide we now know the specifics. This image was just released on their website...

I was a bit surprised they did that, actually. I've come to think of the Hulk movie as a minor mis-step in the Avengers saga. Not that it was bad by any means, it just lacked some of the playfulness that seems to have become Marvel's defining characteristic in recent years.

Also, word on the street is that Hayley Atwell will be appearing as Peggy Carter in the opening episode of season two, although it's apparently not yet known if she'll be in it as her younger self or as she was in 'The Winter Soldier'.

I wasn't too surprised by the limp displays of Anderson or the grossly overrated Hernandez, but I've come to expect more from Jonny Evans. Perhaps Nyron Nosworthy was the strong link in our 2008 central defence after all.

The film is still being cast and Tarantino is yet to start shooting, but the first teaser has been leaked (it was shown in selected American cinemas last week before screenings of 'Sin City: A Dame To Kill For'), hence the starting of the topic. Official synopsis reads: The Hateful Eight follows the steadily ratcheting tension that develops after a blizzard when a pitiless and mistrustful group are trapped together by circumstance. I was going to try and think of a couple of alternatives, but Tabby Hernandez was the best I could do. Needless to say, I don’t plan on giving up my day job any time soon.

United's apparent policy of buying attacking players just because they're available while neglecting the base that allows them to operate is mystifying. Still, a 4-2-3-1 with Van Persie, Rooney, Mata and Di Maria as the front four does sound pretty saucy, provided Van Gaal is able to get Young Master Wayne playing as if he's interested.

I know people always bring this up, but Elisabeth Moss is an acting force of nature. I'm certain she'll be great, it's mainly Vince Vaughn that I'm iffy about. Would prefer to see Fukunaga direct at least a few of the new episodes, although I'd like to think that he’s already set the standards high enough. The framework he created in the first season was such that any new director would have to be stark raving mad to try and pull it up by the roots now. I really hope they think about introducing the villain earlier this time around, though. As much as I liked S1 as a whole, the ending seemed rather rushed and I left feeling strangely unsatisfied.

Skye as an Inhuman would probably be the most likely of all the theories doing the rounds. I think I'd find it tough to get on board with tracing her parentage to an established Marvel character, just seems like a bit of a flawed proposition somehow. Plus, my inner nerd would be heartbroken if Yvonne Strahovski as Captain Marvel doesn't materialise. As a fan of both Yvonne and Carol, I couldn't think of a better match. But anyway, back to 'Agents'. I’d really like to know what’s next for Deathlok, because I enjoyed seeing him freed from Hydra's control. His character’s abilities seem impossible to ignore in season two, even if he only makes the occasional appearance. Also hoping that Ward doesn't return in any kind of 'good guy' capacity.

When Sky decided to brand the whole occasion and fill it with irritating montages about how mad Jim was and about Harry hanging out of his car window, they succeeded only in squeezing every last drop of fun out of it. A mate of mine just sent me a text, saying he spotted Danny Welbeck at the Stadium of Light yesterday. You heard it here first!
