  1. Hence why movements like AfD are currently failing to get even near 10% of the vote in polls. Okay.
  2. Europe already followed those kinds of leaders into the abyss once in the last century, I think most Europeans have reasoned - thankfully - that is quite enough.
  3. The reality is that Europe has always been a violent continent, which includes war but also acts of terror. Only in the last decade, decade and a half has this become primarily about so-called Islamist terror. Why exactly we should freak out to an extent that we did not for any other forms of terrorism is something that I still haven't heard a good explanation for. Here is perhaps an interesting nugget: More Europeans died in terror attacks in the 1985-2001 period (thus roughly the period before what can be considered the modern day Islamist terrorism period) than did in the 2001-2017 period. So once again: tell me why I should be so much more worried now than I was in the 1980s and 1990s?
  4. As a European, can I just state that the very last thing we need is instable buffoon like Trump in charge.

My thoughts on the film: - It's better than "Prometheus" - Depending on how you feel about "Alien: Resurrection", this is probably the third best "Alien" movie of the franchise - It's still well below the quality of the original "Alien" or James Cameron's terrific sequel "Aliens" - I'm not sure if explaining the background of the Xenomorphs is really the way to go, Stephen King famously said that you should never explain the Big Bad too much because explaining it takes away part of what makes it so terrifying

So it has made 200 million worldwide on its first weekend. It is also almost certainly going to be a top five movie of the year domestically at the box office. I think we can now put to rest the notion that a female-led superhero movie cannot make money. Certainly when you consider that the promotion campaign for this one was rather modest compared to some other superhero movies of the recent past.

Trump is in the White House because somehow the GOP field failed to beat a reality TV star who became a Republican five minutes prior to the primaries. Then the Democrats chose a candidate with a lot of baggage who also had the added disadvantage of being female (thus losing a subsection of the electorate just due to sexism/misogyny).

This is a stupid notion. Obama is to blame for the fact that the candidate of the party he does not belong to is a crap president?

Renewable energy generate nearly 100% of Germany's energy. A reminder that they are the third biggest economy in the world. There are also initiatives such as this: http://www.sustainability.coop/project/citizen-energy-berlin-bürgerenergie-berlin-eg It makes little sense to look back at stuff like coal in 2017 imho.

The oil industry has had reliable climate change data since at least the early 1980s and they have plotted their strategic course accordingly ever since. Anyway, this presents a great opportunity to the EU, China, India, ... to swoop into the renewables market which has now been vacated to some extent by the U.S.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/jun/01/nigel-farage-is-person-of-interest-in-fbi-investigation-into-trump-and-russia?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other Have you been a naughty boy, Nigel? Perhaps he will appreciate his MEP lifestyle a bit more if he ends up in a pound-your-ass federal slammer.

*Shrugs* It was always going to happen and we are past the point of no return anyway when it comes to stopping climate change.
  13. Wow, that last shot is one of the best ever I have seen of Lorena.
  14. Slick Willy strikes again!
  15. Voilà c'est fait.

Merkel doesn't want to militarize. Why would she want to spend money from her budget she can now spend on other (more electorally interesting) things on the German army, when it isn't necessary? This change of stance is a logical consequence of Trump's refusal to commit to article V of NATO. Basically after that, Germany's two choices are to either increase their defense budget or allow Russia to push them around whenever they choose.
  17. This is all subjective, but I personally think her weight loss is noticeable and not in a good way.

She's turning into politics' own version of Alexis Ren.
  19. Roseanne was on for a long time on re-runs over here. I doubt I have seen every episode, but I have seen a lot of them. It is a bit odd that they are reviving it after all this time. John Goodman is a great actor.
  20. Well no one really forced him to defend pedophilia during a public interview. So whatever grief has come his way has to be deemed largely a self-inflicted wound. To be honest, he seems to be mostly a provocateur who says outrageous things to get attention and then monetize that attention. In that regard, he is not unlike people in the Katie Hopkins or Piers Morgan category.
  21. It's getting to the point where he could literally be their daddy now. I mean, I believe he was 19 when Lorena was born.
  22. I like Leo a lot, but it would be nice if he didn't insist on putting his penis in every single model I like.
