Is anyone watching this? I have to say that my expectations going in were limited because I'm not Damon Lindelof's biggest fan. Surprisingly this has been a very good TV show, continuing to build upon the universe originally created by Alan Moore and somehow expanding and even improving upon it. The sixth episode was especially great, perhaps the best hour of TV I have seen all year long.

Lucas used so much fascist imagery for his Empire that you can't claim that the original trilogy was free from politics.

I don't think this latest trilogy is particularly good but it's not worse than the prequels. In essence, Star Wars gave us 2.5 good movies in forty plus years.

I think the other part of it was the fact that Lucas was not always the sole proprietor of the EU IP. So if Disney wanted to use some of that stuff, they would have to share the sweet sweet dough with other people/companies. And the mouse company does not share. Not if it doesn't have to.

They are giving the VSFS much more credit than it deserves. It was a-once-a-year TV special with an ever dwindling audience, partially due to changing times, partially due to the company's mishandling of the event (arguably starting in the late noughties). But to give this solitary event so much credit/blame for body issues with teenaged girls is a bit preposterous imho.

I think the choice to jettison much of the EU was partially due to IP concerns. I believe some of that stuff was in propriety hazy situations, so it was easier just to stay away from it.

Well it was their own choice to dismiss all of the extended universe stuff when they tackled the franchise. But even if you start from a position of "all of the non-movie stuff of the past does not matter" that does not need to be a bad thing. It's an exciting blank slate from my perspective.

Eh, I think there was a moment she herself claimed on social media that her seemingly fluctuating breast size was due to her weight changing. Which seems dubious at best to me. I mean, it can account for some change obviously but not for jumping entire cup sizes. Whatever, it's her business what she does and doesn't do with her body and whether or not she is willing to share that with us or not.
