  1. Definitely My Dog Skip. At the end when the dog waits for the boy to come home when he moves out of the house is too sad. Couple that with the fact that it actually happened to me (although with a cat) and that just makes me even more sentimental. I also seem to recall the Fox and the Hound making me cry. We can't escape our nature or something along those lines.
  2. I am definitely a huge Spider-man fan to the extent that I would call myself an expert (which is sort of sad) but I think the main problem behind the movie had to do with the director, Sam Raimi. Overlooking his limitations, I mean he did make Army of Darkness, I think he wanted to do it all for the third movie and bit off more than he could chew. Anyone who knows who Venom is or has any interest in the character would definitely feel cheated by his short exposure in the film. I don't know how many people thought (myself included) that Venom would be set up for the next movie. Instead his character is pretty bastardized and really didn't appear all that threatening. I mean at least Sandman escaped in his first fight scene. Combine that with the fact that the Sandman is an extremely weak villain. He has no depth in his backstory like Dr. Octopus and the Green Goblin he's just a thug. So the writers wanted to adapt him into a more relevant character and decide that he killed Uncle Ben. Most people who know anything about Spider-man (READ: nerds) know that Uncle Ben's death needs to be a random act. But the Sandman needs to have some connection to Peter in order to advance the plot and make his character interesting. So they took this road. They also throw in the character of Gwen Stacy who is utilized to connect Peter with Eddie Brock/Venom. It just seems like her character could have been any girl. It was basically a waste of her character. Gwen Stacy is probably the most important love interest ever in the Spider-man comics. When she is thrown off a bridge ( a la MJ in Spider-man 1) Peter shoots a web to break her fall and has to come to grips with whether she was dead at the hands of the Green Goblin or whether his webbing broke her neck. This is the most important scene in the comics next to the origin. So her character shouldn't occupy a throw away role. At least this movie nailed the character of Harry Osborn. James Franco did a good job acting and his story line was the most interesting to follow. The movie also nailed the way that the characters should look: Gwen Stacy was spot on. Eddie Brock could have been bulkier for my tastes though. While there was too much going on, I think the major problem was the structuring of the villains. We only need one villain. Or maybe two. Three is definitely too much. If there is anything to be learned from Batman and Robin it's that the more villains in a movie, the worse the movie is. Keep things simple and use the time to flesh out the main villain or even the main character. I for one was extremely pleased with the movie. There could have been less MJ slapping, less Saturday Night Fever scenes, and more Venom and I would probably give this movie a 5/5. But I never give movies a 5/5 anyway. This was a 3/5. But it's a comic book movie. Your expectations can't be too high.
  3. VAST - Here Where do I put the shame? It feels like a broken toy I can't play with anymore Where do i put the hate? To a pixilated screen I can't watch anymore All i know is that I'm here Drifting somewhere in the vast Somewhere in eternity And i never want to leave Where do I put the books There's so many I could read But they all are filled with lies Where do I put the lies There's so many I could say But it seems they're in the books I have faith that you're out there Living high up in the vast Somewhere in eternity And you're never going to leave Have I been telling lies to myself? Hold me now you know I am so afraid to be at all Have i been telling lies to myself? Hold me now you know I am so afraid to love at all I looked up and I saw my place I looked in and I felt no hate Where do I put the love? Where do I put the love?
  4. Has anybody heard of VAST? That's my favorite band that my friends have never heard of for some reason. The band had one or two singles that probably hit the west coast air waves about six years ago. But there have been three realeases in the past four years via the internet that have definitely gone under the radar. Everybody should listen to VAST. And The Rasmus.
  5. Hate to burst your bubble, but I absolutely love The Rasmus. Especially the tracks Liquid, In the Shadows and Guilty. Now I have to listen to their albums. Darn.
  6. People still buy music? This is the internet right? But seriously. I hit up Best Buy for these three: The Exies - A Modern Way of Living With the Truth The Sounds - Living in America Strata - Strata
  7. Remember when I said that the world only needed so many Mini Anden wallpapers. That was a lie. Once again. Freckleless.
  8. I made a drawing but I stopped short of adding the freckles ... so whatever Original: Sketch:
  9. And my wallpaper ...
  10. How about we change tracks for a moment. I had some time on my hands and put this together... Which is clearly derived from here.... Far from perfect, and I had to change that hair.
  11. I'm a little behind on my viewing so I sort of skimmed the last few parts but I saw that Sam is dead which I can't really delve into at the moment (nor do I want to). But with Veronica Mars getting cancelled this show is obviously the best show on the CW. I sort of got into this because Jensen Ackles was in Smallville and I was like 'Hey it's that guy from Smallville' so I watched the first episode and the series has only gotten stronger from the first episode. If there is anything to complain about it would be that it seems to be the whole save the day, kiss the girl and drive away routine. It's sort of hard to believe that there hasn't been any constant romantic interests involved. Most shows would have sold out and had some half naked girl running around killing vampires and stuff that would be Dean's love interest so I guess I should applaud them for not taking that route. However, I like the whole 'odd couple' tension between the two brothers and some hot girl that they were competing for would make things interesting. My favorite episode was that Croatoan episode where they referred to the Roanoke colony and there were zombies running around. Very creative I liked it. I also liked how the credit card fraud and dead bodies that accumulate seem to be catching up to Sam and Dean. Good plot development there. Which reminds me that the episode Nightshifter was also incredible. The one where they end up taking the bank hostage and the shapeshifter keeps the tension on high. (I feel like the SNL Chris Farley show... 'remember that time when .....' ). I'm glad to hear that this show was renewed but it's never gonna bring in the ratings in its current time slot. Greys Anatomy and CSI are juggernauts and while I enjoy both of those shows on their own merits I forsee some time in the future where we will be fed some line that Supernatural's ratings are too low to justify its renewal. But I guess that's the glass half empty side of me. The glass half full side of me is just happy that the show got picked up for another year of fine programming. On the other hand maybe when Smallville is retired (which is hopefully soon - another issue for me), Supernatural can get its time slot.
  12. I'm gonna base my decision on the state of the shows at the moment. It would be unfair to judge the fact that I like the main series due to nostalgia when the current might not be as good. I guess I'm in the minority but my fave is CSI:NY and here's why: 1. CSI: NY Pros: The location. There is so much to do in New York which provides for more interesting ways to kill people (which sounds more sadistic than it should) The finale. The finale abandoned the formula which I enjoyed. It was more action oriented with the various hostage situations. I liked how they incorporated the evidence retrieval within the hostage situation by sending the dead body down in the elevator to Hawkins. It was a nice touch. The writing. After they retooled the show after the first season was seen as too dark, the tone of the show changed completely and Hawkins's character had his chance to shine in the field a la Greg from CSI:Vegas. There was the whole scenario with the murderer making t-shirts with clues to his murders, the group who were killed in their fantasy situations, the whole suicide girls thing, the person killed during the marathon, and the recent 'did Mac kill the serial killer?' arc. I think this show is starting to hit it's stride. Cons: Character development. This show has been on for three years and I still feel like I don't know who Mac or Stella are. I'm not much for the 'does Stella have AIDS?' angle. And Mac's relationship with the coroner seems forced. They have their moments but Danny with his mafia-ish connections has received the most development in my eyes. 2. CSI Pros: Miniature killer arc. I like the encompassing murder mystery arc because it reminds me of Veronica Mars. There is development involved and the shows are not all done in one like most of the time. The cast. Everyone knows which character they are playing. They can phone every episode in for all I care. The writers. It seems like this show has the more challenging stories. Like the dead bodies in the morgue talking to each other in that one episode. There was also that weird aliens episode...weird. Cons: I'm all for character development but Greg's character keeps getting the shaft. After killing the black kid to save the victim's life to the ensuing legal battle. This arc just left a bad taste in my mouth. Miniature killer arc. The finale was incredibly convoluted considering that there were four or so miniature cases that were something like six months apart and thus information which is obvious to the CSI's is more confusing b/c of my bad memory. Also the finale just felt lackluster to me. It seemed drawn out but the ending was very good. CSI: Miami Pros: It's a CSI show. There's a formula. I like it therefore I like the show. Rex Linn. I think that's the name of the lead detective. I just like the guy. He's not a fashion model or anything like most of the other actors on the show. He's the most believable character to me. Cons: David Caruso. I think you love or hate this show based on Caruso. I'm sort of tired of his demeanor, the whole slow talking with moments of the sunglasses going off and/or on his head. While all of the main CSI's on the three programs have a messiah complex, his is a little too much for me. He seems to find some kid or woman and make them a promise and he always succeeds. I guess that doesn't really explain what my problem is with him, but after five seasons his character seems dull to me. That damn Hummer. I don't know, it could just be me but I always see that damn Hummer driving by a beach and I can't help but think how ridiculous it is for them to be driving it. Just a little thing, nothing major to me. The writers. I can't pinpoint anything but it feels like the show is running on auto pilot to me. The acting from the guest stars also seems the worst to me. Maybe it's the writing or the budget. I'll blame the writers.
  13. Tough decision but Hana edges Inguna in my tastes. I have to agree with penguin's post. It's definitely the cheeks and eyes. But those legs ain't shabby either.
  14. Hey I'm new here but you might remember me under the name guest or whatever in the models section. I've sort of been on the brink of joining in for a few years but I sort of held off because I don't have any editorials to add or anything. So I have some free time (recently graduated from Georgia Tech) and I thought that I might post some wallpapers. So I busted out my sig and avatar in Photoshop and here I am. What is there to know about me? My name's Stephen and I'm from Clearwater, FL which is really close to Tampa, FL. My favorite models are Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Marisa Miller and Mini Anden. At this point I'm beginning to wonder if all hot models must model with Victoria's Secret. I'm into baseball and subsequently the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Hey we were better than the Yankees for a few days this season. I like to play Guitar Hero and I have made my own songs and stuff but then my PS2 broke and I sort of gave up on that. I might have to buy a new PS2 for the soon to be released 80s version. My favorite TV shows are Veronica Mars, Battlestar Galactica, Family Guy, Supernatural and Scrubs. I guess I need a new number one...crap. I like to draw and that's somewhat correlated to my interest in comic books. And that brings us to the name of Hyperion which I think sounds cool. For those of you versed in ancient mythology Hyperion is the name of the father of the sun and the moon whatever that means. But there was this comic about what if Superman was found by the US military and stuff and instead of Superman it's this ripoff called Hyperion. And he's pretty bad ass. I mean he's like Superman with the All-American vibe but he learns that the military screwed with him and ..... you know this is getting way too involved. I like the comic and the character and that is that. Anyway. See you around. Stephen
  15. I definitely watch too much TV but I don't think it has dumbed down my intelligence b/c I watch all the best shows . (It's sort of sad that I could make a top twenty -- I watch too much TV) Top Ten 1. Veronica Mars (RIP) 2. Battlestar Galactica 3. Family Guy 4. Supernatural 5. Scrubs 6. LOST 7. CSI 8. Law and Order: Criminal Intent 9. Heroes 10. Bones
  16. (I sort of needed to vent this somewhere) Sad to see the show go but it was good while it lasted. It's hard to really factor in what exactly caused its demise. My guess is that it was due to its mixture of genres. I'm guessing that the older audience didn't want to see a teen drama and the younger audience didn't want to see the mystery of the week format. However, that's precisely why I enjoyed it so much. It was something new which I hadn't really seen on TV before. It had solid character development, more realistic dialog, murder mysteries that were complex but not convoluted, and the season long mystery. (Hear that Lost, they actually know what's going to happen and employ foreshadowing instead of just creating more and more mysteries and then resolving what Jack's tattoos mean which no one cares about). I came in on this show late in season one and quickly realized what I was missing. Unfortunately now I know what I'm missing which is depressing when you think about it. I'm sure come Tuesday nights this fall I'll think about it once or twice but I can still watch the Unit and/or House which are defintely great shows in their own. So I won't exactly lament it's passing. It's just in the rigid format structure of network TV, House solves the case and spouts jargon I don't understand or CSI finds clues to find out the murderer. While those can be enjoyable and I generally like those programs, I like how in VM there was a scope to how this was a show about the main character's life AND her detective work. Somehow both of those elements would intersect for the episode. And the mystery would unveil an aspect of the world she lives in. Thus her world becomes real and at the same time there's a mystery that is fairly entertaining. I've heard people say they don't like this last season (Season 3) because it seemed dumbed down a little bit. Smaller mystery arcs and such. Less development time for the big mystery and such. They tried to make it more formulaic and it still didn't catch on. Then they wanted to send her to FBI to save the show. I'm more interested in what's happening now. They want to make the show into an even more repeatble format (which knowing RT would still be sweet) but it seems to me all the network is saying we have to dumb this show down to make it acceptable. But maybe I'm overanalyzing this show too much. It's sad that great programs that fall outside of predictible formats seem to suffer in the ratings. Ask the fans of short lived shows like: Smith, Wonderfalls, Firefly, etc. Just be glad this show was never on the FOX network or it wouldn't have lasted past season one...unless it was slotted after American Idol or something but it seems FOX knows how to kill shows.
  17. My resulting wallpapers from her SI 2007 spread:
  18. I scanned her SI 2007 3-D pictures to the best of my abilities.
  19. Made a wallpaper like my sig: kinda hurts your eyes but I like it:
  20. I almost forgot. I have all these older wallpapers that I made some time ago. VS compilation: From Sisley: A variation that I like better: Another from the Sisley set: A simple one: And my favorite: I'm sure that there is a limit to how many Mini Anden wallpapers that the world needs so I guess I'll move on to someone else.
  21. And lastly... ..FYI if you would like an image at a different resolution just let me know and I'll get around to it when I can.
