  1. And I was only thinking about food.
  2. Unfortunately, that seems likely. The countries which have struggled have been the ones whose hospitals get overrun. That's the other negative for the US, too many places are not staying home and social distancing enough to keep the overall numbers down.
  3. I eat at home, of course, but yes I like going out to a good restaurant. (home or when traveling)
  4. The numbers I saw out of Italy showed those who died averaged around three preexisting conditions.
  5. same, i miss it
  6. I don't envy the scientist trying to understand this thing. They are still trying to determine for certain how it spreads, how common someone can be asymptomatic, how to treat it, how to make a vaccine, and so much more. The one thing that helps is that they are not starting with zero knowledge since this virus is so similar to the SARS virus. We will know so much more in a few weeks and even more in a few months. That seems so far away, though.
  7. I don't think what I have seen on that is clear to me. This is how I understand it now, but I'm not sure it's correct. If someone coughs, sneezes, or talks, what comes out of the mouth can travel a significant distance but gravity pulls it to the ground quickly. (different studies give different distances that can be covered) During medical procedures like intubation and CPR, a person expels what is in the mouth in more of a spray and that's what can stay in the air for up to three hours.
  8. There are not many countries reporting the virus like Brazil. The ministry of health seems to give official numbers for both confirmed and suspected cases while most countries only report confirmed. It gives a more realistic picture of the larger number of people with symptoms. It's probably not a great idea to trust the president of Brazil to be honest with this, but maybe he is letting the ministry of health do its job?
  9. I am doing a very bad job of just eating whatever is around, and too much of it. Maybe it's boredom or stress eating, but it's dumb.
  10. Some countries are classifying deaths in a dishonest way. For example, if a patient was never tested for covid-19, but has clear symptoms of covid-19 dies, their death may be said to be a result of pneumonia or respiratory problems instead. Maybe that's not technically lying, but it's still misleading at a minimum.

  18. There have been a few South American countries whose case numbers seem low. I can understand those being wrong because of the country being overwhelmed and a lack of testing. Reporting the number of deaths is more important. Countries should report the number of deaths accurately. I think you are right about Ecuador's deaths number, it seems low. Hopefully, not too many countries join China, Iran, etc. in faking their number of deaths. The countries I keep thinking are going to have real problems soon are the largest and more densely populated countries which are still in the early stages. In addition to the large populations, many of them have very little testing. I'm thinking it will be bad in Brazil, Nigeria, India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, The Philippines, among others. Of course, if they lie about their numbers, we may not know how bad immediately.
  19. Read a little about Isreal's handling of testing and Taiwan's handling of mask production. I imagine a large number of countries wish they had reacted similarly, it could have significantly reduced the number of infections and deaths.
