New Faces Join Forces for Vogue Italia

Take so much as a passing glance at the work of up-and-coming models Camille Hurel and Jessie Bloemendaal, and it should come as no surprise that the breakout duo were almost simultaneously hailed as stars of the future. However, while the careers of 18-year-old Camille and 20-year-old Jessie may have arrived at corresponding points, they began in stark contrast.

From an early age, Camille had everything it takes to conquer the fashion industry. Discovered in 2014 after friends encouraged her to enter the Elite Model Look Contest, she made her first-ever appearance less than twelve months later at Givenchy’s Autumn/Winter 2015 show. A further two years from that most prestigious of debuts, and the French model’s star is still, slowly but surely, on the rise. With her delicate complexion, windswept dark hair and all-knowing brown eyes, Camille continues to cut a stunning figure on the runway, proving her versatility in multiple appearances for the likes of Kenzo, Chanel, Sonia Rykiel, Givenchy, Nina Ricci, Dior, Balmain, Fendi, Prada, Tommy Hilfiger and Jason Wu.

Jessie, on the other hand, harboured few childhood aspirations of becoming a model. An avid poster on social media, her big break arrived via a chance discovery on Instagram, where her distinctive bleached eyebrows and white blonde hair struck a chord almost instantly with several top agencies. She made her debut modelling haute couture for Valentino’s Spring 2016 collection, and quickly became a hot commodity. Viewing modelling work as an avenue for indulging her love of performing arts, the laid-back Dutch beauty is an ethereal presence on the catwalk and has become a regular fixture on a host of street style sites.

After enjoying similarly stellar Fall/Winter 2017 seasons, it feels fitting that the pair have ended up sharing the spotlight in their debut collaboration for a major editorial. Connecting with fashion photographer Rosi Di Stefano for Vogue Italia’s May 2017 issue, Camille and Jessie pose in eclectic individual portraits that piece together in the style of a photo album, showcasing pastel shades and floral prints offset by sequins and daring latex pieces selected by stylist Patti Wilson.
