Just one question: if you guys are talking about someone to compete with Candice, I tooootally agree they need some color. A black sexy woman would be very wise. I dont care for Behati, I think Lily is just a mistake, sorry, and Martha is still under approval to me. I like Elsa, but she wouldnt be nothing new, like maybe Martha. The only one I see being a good option would be Palvin. But now, my question: where are the redheads??? Cintia Dicker is the only redhead I remember working for VS. Were there others? Cause THAT would be a "fight" I would like to watch. Why is it so hard to find a sexy one? Anyway... I'm with you guys on the "black girl" idea.

Other then Cynthia Dicker, I don't see a viable option for redheads.  I just can't think of any.

 

Wow...you have some pretty strong opinions.  I will agree about Behati, she is hit or miss and not really special in my eyes.  Of all the current Angels, I always questioned her elevation.  So many more girls who are way more beautiful than she is.

 

Lily a mistake?  Wow!!!  She is on the most beautiful and unique Angels to me.  Her pics are always on point.  But you are entitled to your opinion after all.

 

Its pretty clear that Martha is being fast tracked.  All the signs are there as she quickly moves up.  I have now seen her matched up with Candice on a number of occasions and she more than holds her own.  I think she will quickly rise to number 2 at VS.  Many people say her and Candice look too much alike.  I don't see it.  They are both so unique to me.

 

Finally, I am honestly happy that there is a consensus on the need for model of color (black or otherwise).  Tyra and Naomi were absolutely electric and remain close to my heart.  Selita Ebanks, Chanel Iman, and Joan smalls have all been great.

It would be great for VS but probably a bad mistake career wise for her but Joan Smalls would be amazing. Her and Candice??? OMG I would die.

Exactly. If they want more success they are going to NEED women of color because they make up a big chunk of their market. Women want to see women like them in advertisement ESPECIALLY in beauty ads.

I still don't get the whole blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl argument.  If Doutzen leaves early next, that will mean three slots are open (after losing Miranda and Erin this year).  Plenty of room for a blonde, a brunette, and a black model.  Or a blonde and two black models (better scenario for me).  Maybe its due to me being a guy that I am missing the point regarding the marketing of two top-tier blonde models?  Martha has "It" and I think VS knows it.

 

If you have been following Martha's career closely, as I have, and her recent work with VS, it seems pretty clear.  I could be wrong but I don't think so.  It was even capped off with a strong performance in the VSFS.  She even got wings her first time out.  Karlie was the last to do so I think.

 

Let me say again, as a black male, I really appreciate the desire to have more black models and other models of color added to the VS brand. No one is accusing them of racism, but women of color are a big percentage of their base.  I love Candice, Martha, Lily, and Doutzen, but long to see another Tyra Banks.

Barbara got wings her first time out. Didn't even have to do a live casting; she just sent a video. And we see where that went...but that was a different situation. Martha also gets an advantage for being American, which I think they like.

LOL, yes

Well, the Native American one would probably be much further into the future when they start signing more Native female models. There aren't many but there are some. However, there is NO excuse for not having an Asian angel because they have plenty of those. Some of the ones VS has used before are perfect: Ming Xi, Liu Wen, Sui He. I would probably say Ming Xi because Liu Wen and Sui He are incredibly high profile which is probably why they use them only in the runway shows. I would LOVE to see Fei Fei Sun in a runway show. There are DEFINITELY other Asian models, like handfuls of them but I can't think off the top of my head now.
