I think you and the Western media do not understand what is going on in the war in Ukraine due to the disinformation in the press.

Keep in mind that I do not support Russia or Ukraine.  I do not care about Ukraine at all.  My main issue is the military propaganda and lies in our media.

It's a strategic win for Russia, strategic failure for NATO/Ukraine.  Despite sending half their army over to Wagner they could not destroy Wagner, which is a penal army.

How exactly is it a strategic win for Russia? The entire point of the "special military operation" was "denazification", which meant getting rid of the Zelensky government and installing another puppet regime. Not only did they fail utterly in that goal, it now looks further away than ever.

She's become super ugly, make up or not. She's totally unattractive (and it's even worse when you consider what she thinks)

Another straw man argument... which has nothing to do with my post, but anyway...

Mrs Haenel's activism is pro-communism (she said so herself). Communism has killed 100+ millions of people. If I reasoned like you I would tell you: "I don't see why anyone would support her (unless they support mass murder...)". But I don't reason like that, I just blame people's lack of knowledge (which is why some still believe in the communist utopia/dystopia).

Haenel also supports "l'écriture inclusive", which is a deconstruction tactique used by totalitarians to control the language (like Newspeak).

I'm not aware of Haenel's broader political beliefs, I do know she became persona non grata in much of French cinema because she walked out at the Césars during Polanski's victory.

I am still waiting for someone to properly define "woke" for me.

Woke is a belief that your belonging to a "group" defines you more than your individual qualities. It classifies these groups (that the woke created) as oppressors and oppressed on the basis of flawed considerations. Their definitions trap people in these groups with no way of exiting them, since your belonging to a group is based on characteristics you can't change (sex, skin color, country, etc.).

The woke's main course of action is to denigrate, eliminate people who express slight disagreement and often refuse constructive arguments.

You're welcome.:hi_wft:

(I can elaborate more, but this is already a good basis)

She never became persona non grata because of the Césars. She was praised for it! This is typical "victimisation" tactics. They always consider as victims, even when they get praised (you can add this to the definition of "woke zealots").

If you speak French, then this short video is telling:

I just explained why it is a strategic win in the post after this one.

Yes, the original SMO is a big failure.

Okay, so she is a bit in the same category as actors like Susan Surandan in the U.S.

TBH I do not expect a great deal from them when they do express a political opinion.

The new star wars looks like it's all women.

I heard in the lore that Asoka was trained by Darth Vader!

Wagner PMC released these claims on what they destroyed in Ukraine March 2022-May 2023.  They announced that they will refit for 1-2 months and be deployed again.

I think at this point Russia has done more fighting with Ukrainians, convicted criminals and PMCs than conventional forces.

The head of Lucasfilm (Kathleen Kennedy) is a talentless suit who suck up to Lucas and Spielberg. By gaining their trust, she was able to be nominated by Lucas as her heir.

Since her appointment, she got obsessed with imposing what she calls "female supremacy" in all the movies she produced. Her team and her abandonned Joseph Campbell's principles (the hero's journey) and they used political manifestos instead.

As usual, the neo-feminist apologists will say it's great to erase men, because somehow the fact that most CEOs are men makes the rest of the male population (99%) guilty of being a so-called patriarchy.

I'm going to ramble on again, but I loathe this sexist/feminist society that comes from the USA. Anyway :Amelie_wft:

Idk what Surandon does or says. I used to think that American activists were crazier than the French ones, but I'm not sure anymore :/

Movie stars tend to be seen as reliable sources by some people (which is crazy).

Lucas' use of the hero's journey is what made his movies great.

Sarandon is very left-wing. She hates Hillary too, much to the annoyance of a lot of Dem supporters. In general she is well to the left of the Democrats.

Variations of the basic model fits with a lot of religions and myths, and also great classical works like Dante's Divine Comedy.

I think it also works well because it can be squeezed into a film format.

The heroes journey has been criticized by feminists and they have their own heroes, journey, for feminists.  I wouldn't be surprised if this Ashoka show used it.

A major reason why I like the Witcher so much is that it has an extremely sophisticated version of the heroes' journey.

Yes, the Witcher, Jedi Survivor, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Bayek of Siwa, etc. all of them have their hero's journey, that's why we like them.

The traditional hero's journey shows love to both men and women. The feminist hero's journey is rooted in hatred; they have to show contempt for men and ridiculise them, that's why they're despicable

(I know I repeat the same things over and over again, but I cannot not say what I think...)

In short, they can criticise "gender roles" however they want and build "new ones", but if their new tales show hatred (which was not the case before), I don't see it as progressivism. It's regression.

Another one for the Chinese Communist apologists:

A bit related to this but I noticed that India seems to have a trend of 'nationalism' (not only their leader but a portion of the population think that India can become a superpower) and there is a small tension between China & India, a rather mutual contempt/annoyance at each other.
