they're not done shooting and we haven't identified half of the models, so it's really too early to speculate.

 

just kidding! knowing the lineup won't actually help much this year, as the 50th anniversary theme will dominate. 

 

i'd place my money on another multi-girl shoot just like in the 2004 issue and on the 2006 cover.  some combination of elle, christie, tyra, cheryl, kathy, heidi, bar, marisa, etc, all crowded around, hoisting up, or <post edited > .  this is the easy/expected option; i'd say there's about a 50% chance of a multi-girl "all star" type cover.

 

on that note, my next-best guess would be Yet Another Kate Upton Cover.  just a <post edited > (topless but covered, handbra).  SI would get press for not even having a swimsuit on the cover of the swimsuit issue.  i figure if they use Kate three times in a row, they've got to do something even more press-worthy than going to seven continents. so about a 25% chance of YAKUC.

 

of the other girls, the best bets are nina agdal (12%) or emily didonato (8%).  beyond that, it's a pretty weak field, so let's say 5% for everyone else in the world combined.  if they pass over Kate, it's almost possible they'd go with a rookie rather than a veteran.  of the current veterans, no one else really has a cover-worthy body or enough name recognition for the cover, especially for this big 50th anniversary hype they've created. they've kind of done it to themselves, treating Kate as if she's the only one worth promoting.

 

i'd be interested to see what odds other bellazonians (and lurkers!) would assign.

Is there a reason you take a jab at Kate whenever you can? We get it, you aren't a fan...

LMAO at Emily having better chances than Chrissy, Anne or even Hannah And this is coming from someone who likes Emily a lot and dislikes Chrissy even more.

 

Kate will be in that cover and we all know it even if some people is in denial, the real question is ... Will she be alone or will she be joined by someone else? I hope that if she is joined by Brooklyn someone else there won't be more than three or four girl in the cover, I personally find the 2006 cover distracting because there's too many girls in it.

One thing kinda perplexes me - there used to be times when SI made the stars - whoever they put on the cover it was a big thing for the girl to be there. Now it sounds like being on the cover doesn´t really matter, because SI needs someone famous and recognizable - so they are no more relevant and star-makers as they used to be,

 

Maybe they could ask Barack Obama to pose for them.

Awesome that Tyra and Marisa and everyone else is going to be there! It's going to be epic. Petra needs to be there too! It would be cool to see Petra and Veronika together again.

 

Yeah, Kate is bound to be on the cover because they treat this issue as a special anniversary thing and have gotten all their legendary girls to come back so of course they are going to give them a cover. Can you imagine SI getting all their heavy hitters from the age of 20-60 and give the cover to someone who is relatively a rookie instead?? Saleswise it's a smart idea to put more than one model on the cover because they can count on some people buying the magazine because they recognize their fave dream girl from back in the day etc.

 

They would have been crazy to not have Emily in the issue because she brings some credibility since she has an established high-profile fashion modelling career outside of SI but I don't think she is even near a cover potential yet. I'm going to be disappointed if Alyssa is a no-show but if she has her sights set on something else like acting then so be it. It would have been fun though to see a double-shoot for Alyssa and Nina.

I agree Jennka! In that case it would be really interesting to find out which cover sold best But if they keep their models out of bikinis then the cover potential goes way down.

Well hell, they have pushed the envelope before from having a necklace be the only part covering the upper body to dangling the top over the shoulder to having the smallest barely there bikini bottom so why not a nude model strategically covered and a bikini lying next to her

That is true too. That's why I never like the idea of two models sharing a cover. I'm probably influenced by how Tyra had first been less than excited when she was told she got the cover of SI again because she thought yeah, another double-model cover.

 

But in this case (if there are all girls who have had the cover before) I think breaking up the group in different cover options would be something different.

in 2 or 3 days they fly to the last location!... so probably later is coming body paint, and thats it.

I don't like the idea of several covers at all, IMO it cheapens the whole concept of the cover shot being especial.

 

Hope my girl Jessica Perez makes it to the next location, fingers crossed
