June 30, 201212 yr will you go princess? Yeah, sure!.Only in my dreams... even if I could pay a trip to Brazil myself, and save on hotels because I would stay in Pami's house ... the tickets for the games are really expensive.
June 30, 201212 yr i know this conversation is going on in the other threat, but i don't want to go too off-topic there so i'm going to add my two cents herei wasn't at all surprised with leo's lack of oscar nomination last year. in fact, i was even surprised he got the GG nom. it was jean's season last year (and he deserved it imo i was blown away by his performance in The Artist/with the film as a whole) and he/it really did deserve all the awards it received. but anyways, back to leo. his performance in j. edgar was strong (when are his performances not?!) but it was probably one of the weakest in his career. it was another inception for me, except i didn't even like j. edgar as a film (at least inception was a fantastic picture, all things considered). j. edgar was FAR too long, boring, and every single performance in it was dry and lacking that /certain something/. and i watched it at least 5 times in the theater trying to convince myself to like it tbh. if leo had gotten his oscar for j. edgar, it would have been soooo disappointing. and like someone mentioned already, the fact that michael fassbender (shame)/michael shannon (take shelter) were left out of the awards race was AWFUL. they should have been nominated in place of brad and george, tbh.i want leo to win his awards based on him being the absolute best performance of the year, i don't want him receiving awards because it's "his time" or "we should have given it to him for (whatever film) but we messed up so here it is now", you know? he wasn't snubbed for j. edgar at all. if you want to talk about leo and being snubbed, mention gilbert grape and the aviator and blood diamond and revolutionary road and SHUTTER ISLAND. that film received zero award recognition and it was such a damn shame.he will get his oscar/golden globe/sag/etc and he will get many throughout his career, it's just a matter of when. i know he's not going to retire without at least a dozen major awards to his name, i just know it.
June 30, 201212 yr I agree, J. Edgar was a bit of a letdown, in my opinion. I would bet my money on Django, not Gatsby, eventhough Calvin is a supporting role. But I'm still hoping WOW will work out, and since Scorsese is involved again....
June 30, 201212 yr I see your point of view Neon and I agree wasn't his best performance but I still thought Leo was great in J.Edgar and I think he deserved all the nominations he got this year and he would deserve to be nominated in Oscar in my opinion. But if we are talking about being snubbed... than I think it was not being nominated for Revolutionary Road, man that was acting, his frank just got me in tears and I was shocked on how he gone further and deeply with his emotions in this movie.
June 30, 201212 yr ^SOO agree. I think RR is leos must underrated performance ever. Better than blood diamond, better than the Aviator or Grape. I think RR was one of his best, if not the best, performance of his career!
June 30, 201212 yr Exactly.!!!!!.. I'm not saying that should have won ... I say that at least deserved a nomination.I second what you say it wasn't his best but C'mon snubbed again??? Leave out someone who ALWAYS acts great to include two that FINALLY act well?Edit: and what they did with RR ... those of the Academy should be ashamed! In what world could be said that Brad Pitt in Benjamin Button was better than Leo in Revolutionary Road?
June 30, 201212 yr I agree, J. Edgar was a bit of a letdown, in my opinion. I would bet my money on Django, not Gatsby, eventhough Calvin is a supporting role. But I'm still hoping WOW will work out, and since Scorsese is involved again.... still holding onto my impossible, year old pipe dream that leo will sweep best actor for gatsby and best supporting for django but oh man, don't even get me started on Wolf. that's going to be a killer film, i can just feel it in my bones. especially after reading the book, knowing leo is playing jordan under scorsese's direction...it's perfect on paper. i hope it's perfect in practice as well.
June 30, 201212 yr is true maybe wasn't his best performance, but it was one of the best if you compere with the other nominees, he was by far better than George and Brad, common this guys receive awards just for not ruin a movie with their performances.
June 30, 201212 yr hmm I disagree. I know people on this thread don't like george or brad lol but they were great in their movies. Leo was probably my 7th choice for best actor last year tbh.. there were a lot of people who deserved a nom ahead of him. I agree with neon. He definitely wasn't snubbed. (Fassbender, however, was definitely snubbed) anyways, I know we're leo fans but he really doesn't deserve a nom for everything he does lol j edgar honestly wasn't good and his performance wasn't anything special either. I hope he really blows it out of the water with his 2 movies this year though. and omg I am SO excited for Wolf. I loved the quote from Thelma (the editor of the movie) about how "wild" the movie will be. I can't wait. edit: leo's "lip" thing (because people are talking about it in the other thread lol) btw have you guys seen Chronicle? I watched it last weekend and the main actor, Dane Dehaan looks so much like Leo when he was young. I googled it and apparently I'm not the only one that thinks so lol
June 30, 201212 yr this guy Dean has a resemblance of Leo, but it;s little bit ugly it has a skinny face and stronger features, yes Leo was very skinny but his face was fuller and better, well maybe Young Leo is the cutest thing that I had ever seen, he was so dreamy.
June 30, 201212 yr There is only one Leo and the only one who can remotely look like him is a mini-Leo
June 30, 201212 yr Well...I liked his performance in J.Edgar a lot. There are two things we need to think in this case, when we say it wasnt his best performance, are we talking about the movie or about his performance in this same movie? Because sometimes we need to separate one thing from the other. One thing was the movie that in my opinion was weak and tedious,I agree. The other thing was Leo's work in it and in my point of view was excellent. If I had to choose his weakest work, I would pick "The Man in the Iron Mask" and only. The truth is that it's difficult to mention a weaker performance in Leo's case because his level is too high.
June 30, 201212 yr The fact of not having won an Oscar for Blood Diamond and not having been nominated for RR was a shame in my opinion.
June 30, 201212 yr "The Man in the Iron Mask" was ahhh??... ok maybe a little... awful.... yes!. For me his performance wasn't as bad as the movie itself.
June 30, 201212 yr Yeah Princess...I mean,it's only in the case of a choice. As I said before,it's difficult to pick a weaker performance hehe. Btw Princess...who's Carmen Amanda? I only Know Carmen Sandiego!!
June 30, 201212 yr Btw Princess...who's Carmen Amanda? I only Know Carmen Sandiego!! But at least I say the first name right... And other thing... Oxford is missing... also Leo... girl do the math.
