When it comes to models, I'm not at all bothered by their English speaking skills, as long as I can understand what they say. In fact, I find it a little off putting when models have this clean cut American accent lol, that is how much I have come to associate modeling with Brazilians, Russians, Europeans etc...

For me, once you have the looks and charisma, just know how to muster up some sentences up and we're good.

Did you miss the part where I said you have to make sure what you're saying when when promoting a product comes out clearly. In fact, where did you learn being a good English speaker=good spokesperson?

When you're predominate audience is America. Whose official languages are English and Spanish.... Ya I'm pretty sure you should be able to speak English at least passably to be a spokesmodel for them...

I ripped it off the website using Torch Browser.   There are other, more involved ways of getting it but I don't know the details.

Clearly VS isn't that concerned about it, or they see something else in her that makes her worth the gamble. And they already have a bunch of new girls who are more "sure things" than Kate, so they probably don't think it's a big deal to take her on because it's not a big loss if she doesn't work out. 

 

Yes, it's weird that they would try with someone who's not already super fluent, but it's not like she can't learn. It's a fixable problem. Especially since she is living in a country where English is predominant, which is the best situation to learn a new language quickly. And it's not like fluency is the only concern; even though her short video was probably scripted, you could still make out the words. I mean, I love Adri, but fluent or not I still have no idea wtf she's saying half the time.

 

Or maybe, as already suggested, VS is more interested in her native tongue. They're making a huge deal out of where all the girls are from, and specifically mentioned going international when they were explaining their choice to take on ten girls. Maybe they mostly just care that they can market her in Russia.

Home grown Victoria’s Secret runway model Shanina Shaik has missed out on earning her angel wings.

Yeah ever since Miranda became an Angel they cover a bit of VS here and there. Our cable also gets the VS Show pretty much a day after it airs in America. And whenever there's an Aussie girl in the show she gets a little coverage. Shame about Shanina but it's clear VS has no interest in her outside of some catalog and one look in the show. 2012 she was only meant to get one look but she got Lais' second outfit. At the moment there isn't really any Aussie girl who I think VS could use. There's someone like Sarah but she definitely isn't VS type anymore. And the rest are kind of meh. No one like Miranda. Jessica was used and discarded, so was Elyse. Abbey was in for a bit and then went super HF so she stopped being used. Catherine never even made any noise when it came to VS. Bridget has only ever been used in catalog.

And then there's a bunch of girls who primarily work here in Aus. Like Nicole Trunfio, Cheyenne Tozzi etc

I can sum up why VS doesn't like Shanina:

They aren't a fan of winter sports

So so cold during winter. Brrrr.

Candice: "Yes! The family is getting bigger. I'm very excited to get to know the new girls. I have already formed a relationship with some of them because as you know you have to earn your wings, so a bunch have been working with us already like Lais, Jasmine and they are all very, very sweet." 

Grazia Daily: How do you support new girls coming in and prepare them for what it takes to be an angel?
Candice: "I mean for me specifically, I don't make them feel too nervous. Just break the ice and have them feel a little more at home and not in a competitive environment - we're all out there and it's good to bond over that."

Grazia Daily: Do you do anything to initiate them being an angel and celebrate?
Candice: "Not really. We are all travelling all over the world so it's very seldom that we're all in the same place - it's more like on birthdays or special events we see each other. We've not all been together yet - that will be a miracle when we're all together in the same place! I mean it's even hard for me to keep in touch with my best friends like Behati and Lily so - thank god for group chats on Whatsapp."
