If lindsay ever took the 7 figure sum for the beauty line that ended, couldn't they switch the beauty contract to a extension of a angel contract instead .

I've never really heard anything about Lily. I do think she is beautiful though. I should probably clarify that Lindsay's contract was an "angel" contract extension because she signed her first one in the beginning of 2011 and it expired at the beginning of 2014. Her extension was an angel contract, hence why she was still in the press release and intro unlike Erin and Izabel when they were no longer angels. 

Thanks for clarifying but i would have imagined 7 figure sum would be for like 2 years of an extension.

In terms of Lindsay's contract, that is a big sum.

Does anyone else find it really annoying when newspapers/magazines refer to someone who has modelled for VS as a Victoria's Secret Angel, when they aren't or weren't Angels?

Can you explain to me what you mean by "sold very well" (etc.)?  How precisely do they measure/quantify/qualify this "sold very well"?

I'm new to Bellazon but I can give you guys some tea because my cousin works for L Brands in a financial capacity (where they really decide if an angel is going to stay or go). At the end of 2011 he told me that Angels would start dropping like flies and between then and now he was right. I can't say for certain how true this tea is but he's always been right.

 

1. All the new angels have 1 year contracts (even Elsa) but she signed hers first so she would be up for renewal quite soon. They are nowhere near as lucrative as a used to be.

2. Contracts are now all one year extensions because it's too much of a risk to sign a girl to 3 year contract and then have her not sell well in any sector (Chanel).

3. The rumors of Lindsay resigning with VS last year were actually kind of true, she signed a contract with VS cosmetics around January 2014 for 1 year but then L Brands almost immediately decided to end the line so she was paid a nice seven figure sum (he never reveals specifics) to not do any work. She would have maybe been resigned again because she sold very well in the beauty sector.

3. Adriana and Alessandra have sweet deals that Candice might probably never get. They get paid millions for very few work days.

4. Erin's situation is a bit sad because if L Brands only dropped her because she was going the way of Doutzen. Erin and Doutzen were very popular and sold extremely well but they would have always been second tier. If Doutzen had quit in 2013 instead of 2014, Erin might still be an angel.

5. Karlie was never going to be renewed so they were happy to let her go when she wanted out.

 

This is pretty much most of the tea I know. When I see my cousin again I'll try to get more info out of him.

Okay, the not selling very well thing was explained to me by meaning that "not selling well" does not reflect how much product they move. It means that the creative (Ed and Monica, I assume) have not found a place where the girl fits. It's more that the company can't sell her well. Its like how models like Adriana, Alessandra, and Candice sell well everywhere which is why they've all been everywhere. A girl like Chanel was not able to fit anywhere because there was no room for her. Lindsay on the other had fit perfectly with the beauty like Behati did with Pink. My personal opinion on why Behati stayed and not Lindsay is that there was more incentive to develop Behati into a main line girl because of Adam. 

 

Erin and Doutzen were closely tied because like Adriana, Alessandra, and Candice they sold well everywhere but they were second string. Theres no use in calling in Dotuzen if Adriana or Alessandra are available. Why would they need Erin when they can use Candice. It was easier to let go of Erin than Doutzen because her contract was up and Doutzen was more synonymous with the company.

Interesting and thank you for explaining.  So how would you explain the logic of the "newest angels"?  What is there to gain from ten additions?  These appear to be much more vulnerable to turnover.

I don't know why dropped Emanuela but all five of them were as my cousin says "almost angels". They had lucrative contracts like Ana Beatriz Barros (2000 soemthing) and Behati in 2008. All five of signed a one year million dollar plus contract. Which is why Emanuela appeared on the Forbes list. More proof can be found in the lawsuit Lindsay's mother agency filed against DNA (but not her) search DNA vs photogenics and you can read all about it. Candice, Chanel, and Rosie stuck and were promoted to full angels. Lindsay resigned another one year contract before being promoted to full angel the next year.

The newest angels is their new marketing strategy. More girls= much cheaper. The girls who were contract girls before make more money but they don't make anywhere near as much as the 2009 contract class. They all get paid very well but not an obscene amount of money like VS used to. The thing is after being in a VS angel a models rates shoot up. 

Besides costs and liquidity, do you think that there are some things that they are sacrificing for this?  The trade-off. (loss of some persons with star power, etc.)  Did the previous 'class' under-perform aesthetically compared to what they were hoping to achieve?

 

Do you believe that the lineup will eventually be trimmed down by the next cycle?

 

Also, what's the deal with Rachael Hilbert dominating PINK?

I don't think that her engagement will affect ver work with VS. I wouldn't get my hopes up too high if I was you.

I can't speak to that as an inside source because I never get that deep with it. As a fan I wouldn't think so. Getting paid lets say maybe 500-750 grand for one year's work and then going back to high fashion or high end commercial with increased rates doesn't seem so bad. I think that we all know some of them are getting dropped though. I don't particularly care for any of the new girls but I assume the ones that are staying are Elsa, Martha, Jasmine and Stella for sure. I want to say that Taylor and Sara are sure things but I have this feeling that Sara being Adriana-lite won't work in her favor for too long.

 

With the vets I think that the top 3 girls are very safe. Adriana is Victoria's secret. Alessandra is basically old faithful, put her anywhere and she does well. Plus she seems to have the most personality to me. Candice represents everything so they can't cut her out rapidly if they planned to. Behati and Lily's days seem numbered to me.

 

I do have a question for all of you though. Why the heck is Izabel brought back year after year? I do not like her at all. And what happened with Selita, I loved her for VS.

Izabel has regional impact at home I think.  Kind of like Anne V (Russian) with SI.

 

I had largely thought that the idea of growing "home grown" stars (before that, they simply bought the personalities/icons eg. Gisele, Tyra, Heidi) ended up being somewhat of a bust with mixed results. 

But Behati is surely getting the FB this year, and they are put ver everywhere this year, using her like crazy, I would say she's safe too.

VS seems love #BodybyIza a lot, even if we don't like her (and her hairflip) she always comes back, I blame Ed for that.
