Infantino is full of shit. He does not care about colonialism, he just wants people in Europe and the U.S. to shut up about the barbaric treatment of migrant workers by Qatar.

That's it. He is a cynical little man.

I just wish the U.S. AG office had actually pursued its FIFA investigation instead of shutting it down in exchange of the U.S./Mexico/Canada being awarded the 2026 WC.

It's pretty clear there are still a lot of people at FIFA who should really be in jail right now.

Yep, I agree. A 100%.

Sepp Blatter was a big crook as well.

Even some Europeans defend this idea that Europe (and all white people) are bad (which is racist, but well...). If you look at history, this is nonsense. There has been colonisation, slavery and racism in many places.

I heard that the main purpose of the royalty in the UK (and why the death of Queen Elizabeth was so big) is that the nobility was primarily cultural- to be beyond politics and given a traditional example to aspire to.

I think this was the case in Europe until the 20th century.  (pre WW1)

However without any nobility and tradition, everything is left up to pop culture, the market, politics etc.

It's politics, it's not supposed to make any sense!

Trump doesn't want to come back to twitter.

I think it will be at his loss.  Elon will certainly give him a lot of freedom to project soft power.

Trump is contractually obligated to Truth Social so I don't know how it'll all work out.

I would love his first tweet to be Happy Birthday Sleepy Joe.

Trump won't win in 2024.

The US is too far gone in left wing extremism.

It's just my opinion (maybe I'm wrong).

It's all about universal mail in voting and ballot harvesting, hopefully outlawing the first thing. If not changes are made a Republican will never win the presidency again. Republicans need to step up their ground game and outdated thinking to have a chance for Congress & Presidency.

I'm browsing the internet to see the reactions among people and it seems split between two extremes (like often):

- those who say FIFA has sold its ass for money

- those who say Europe is a mean place (which is factually wrong)

Even some Europeans defend this idea that Europe (and all white people) are bad (which is racist, but well...). If you look at history, this is nonsense. There has been colonisation, slavery and racism in many places.

North Africa seems to be a contentious subject. When some ppl tell them that North Africa was Berber, then was colonised by the Arabs, then colonised by Turkey for 400 years, then France for only one century, they just don't know it or are angry you tell them the truth. :idk:

It's a Cult worldwide and white people are bad, it's useless arguing with Cultists.

Possibly that. Or the lack of transcendence.

Kids without transcendence desperately need to find one. That's why cults emerge (wokeness, environmental fanaticism, communism or even fascism when it was something).

The US has an archaic voting system. It doesn't surprise me to see that most people aren't trusting it.

It's funny because I've seen French medias defended this system (cause it meant arguing against Trump) while in France we have voter IDs and mail-in ballots are strictly forbidden (because it can lead to frauds). And nobody contests the voting system.

Last vote (2022), I've heard the far left (Melenchon - who is a hardcore Stalinist) complaining about votes for hours max. Then, they just accept their defeat (and they know they have other powers: in the media, in the streets, with antifa thugs, etc.)

His twitter account was his most powerful weapon, he had 89 million plus followers.

His presidency was a giant trolling/obstruction affair but his performance during the pandemic was horrific.  I am more annoyed at that than everything else combined.  The Jan 6th riot and attack on the Capitol was the second thing I have an issue with.

I am fine with Biden as president, prefer him to Trump but I strongly disagree with their association with the re-branded neocons, and their stupid desire to fight a war with Russia. The Democrats are on track to create a generational cold war II, have nuclear confrontation, and spend trillions fighting Russia like we spent trillions fighting in the middle east.

IIRC Trump was one of those anti-NATO conservatives and wanted to pull the US out of the alliance, de-militarize, and leave Europe to fend for themselves.  As the situation in Ukraine escalates that could serve American interests if the Russian mobilization is successful and they win the war.  And if the Russians win the war regardless of US funding then they will turn into an even more dangerous, fascist and militarized state.  They have already increased their defense budget by 80%.

Winston Churchill was seen by the British as being a good wartime leader (and even his failures, many of them serious were ignored) but after they won WW2 the British people, in particular the working class completely rejected him despite his role in the victory.  Churchill was the leader to have for war and not for peace.

Since COVID-19 is mostly over, maybe Trump having a second term would be overall better than Biden having a second term, I don't know.  If Biden didn't screw around with nuclear Russia and pretend that they are not highly dangerous I would prefer that he get that second term.

@Cult Icon How is it going with your youtube channel?

I had 6 weeks where I was so busy that I couldn't work on it at all but I am back on it now.

I recently bought special photography lighting for my home office so I can film at night.  My home office only has 1 window.

I am finding it a lot more work than I anticipated.   It also reminds me that this type of thing is much easier to do if you are doing it as you are learning, so the information is current and fresh.  If you come back to stuff you haven't done in years you'd have to re-invent the wheel and waste a lot of time.

I spent a lot of time searching/organizing my notes and doing some planning.  I finished exploring all possible options and set up a currently empty Forum, Website, Patreon, and chose a vendor for online course creation.

Now I want to write a couple of scripts and create some videos real soon.

Trump's presidency was overall really good in my opinion sans the pandemic. He listened to Fauci too long and should've fired his ass, listened to John Bolton too long too before firing his ass. His foreign policy was excellent with no new wars and the Abraham accords. The economy was excellent before the pandemic. He was starting to improve the infrastructure and the foreign dependence on energy. A lot of his other policies were sound too. His biggest detriment was tactfulness all around.

The first 2 years of the Biden presidency has been terrible. The economy has taken a huge hit, part is the pandemic and his policies. The inflation is terrible and is getting worse. We are now reliant on foreign energy again which is not helping with the inflation and supply chain issues. The border is a disaster. The Afghanistan withdrawal was a disaster. His executive orders have been terrible. Draining the wartime reserve oil to reduce the price of gas for a few days was an impeachable offense. His foreign policy is terrible besides making us looking really weak on the world stage where his equivalents ignore him. Then there's the Ukraine disaster. We got 2 more years of this moron!

There is a certain modern rejection of Western tradition in the arts, due to its perceived immorality, Christianity, and elitism (art for the nobility equals bad).  This extends to architecture as well.  So modern architecture and art have to be ideologically socialist and non-religious, rather than traditional.

I have often thought this (since I was about 18), about what culture and the environment would look like if Europe/US were more traditional. Like cities would not be rebuilt in the socialist or modern art style, and instead adopt neoclassical architecture or modernized forms popular in the 19th century.

People would also dress differently, and much more formally like they did in the 19th century.

A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin | Goodreads

@SympathysSilhouette  This one star essay review of Game of thrones- with has 2089 likes is the most piercing criticism of the main flaws of the series.  I don't agree with everything he says but I think he hits the nail on the head that Game of Thrones is really about enjoying worldbuilding and characters over plot and progression.  I read some of the reviews for Feast and Dance and they say the plot moves even slower! than in Storm of Sword.

So GOT may be more like a high quality fantasy soap opera; it is more about enjoying the journey rather than expecting to be blown away from the saga as a whole once it ends, and all the pieces of the puzzle connect together.  Perhaps this is why GRRM has writer's block.

"If you need some kind of closure, avoid this series. No arcs will ever be completed, nothing will ever really change. The tagline is 'Winter is Coming'--it's not. As the series goes on, there will be more and more characters and diverging plotlines to keep track of, many of them apparently completely unrelated to each other, even as it increasingly becomes just another cliche, fascist 'chosen one' monomyth, like every other fantasy series out there. If you enjoy a grim, excessively long soap opera with lots of deaths and constant unresolved tension, pick up the series--otherwise, maybe check out the show."
