So, now the salmon is at 70€/kg in my supermarket, I hope they are gold-sh*tting salmons for this price :rofl::rofl:

Summer, you are like a clinging fucking BF who won't let shit go. I told you it's over and yet you still insist on trying to be in my life. Fuck off already. I've got a new GF and her name is Autumn and I love her so much. You on the other hand I've never loved and only tolerated because I had too.

We'll be together soon...

Dear [Summer],

I hope this letter finds you well 😒, though I must confess that my own disposition has been anything but well during this insufferable season you have brought upon us. It is with a heavy heart and a strong desire for change that I write to express my vehement displeasure with every facet of you.

I loathe summer, and I don't say this lightly, in fact loathe might be the nicest word I can use. The oppressive heat, the suffocating humidity, and the ceaseless hours of blinding sunshine are anathema to my existence. I am a person who revels in the darker and heavier aspects of life. My wardrobe predominantly consists of black attire crafted from materials such as velvet and corsets, meticulously selected to maintain my perfect aesthetic, yes yes, I know my scene isn't just about the aesthetics and it's all about the music... fuck you, it's important. Summer you fucking cunt... you do not align with ANYTHING in my life, or my appearance preferences.

Your relentless quest to burn my skin and eyes with your insufferable rays forces me to shroud myself in layers of sunscreen and oversized sunglasses and walk around with a parasol, and then I'm still dying after 2 minutes outside because of the thing for which I cannot block..... the heat. Your rays put me into a never-ending battle to preserve my porcelain complexion, sure some might say I should get a tan so I can look "healthy" but I am so English, Swedish, and Norwegian that I glow, and burn, and then glow again, and while the sun worshipers will look "great" in the here and now, your rays will eventually catch up to them and they'll look well beyond their years as they get old.... I on the other hand will look 38 when I'm 50. Can we talk about the sweat on my brow and how it makes my very expensive makeup unhappy. My foundation is about $60 a bottle, and it's meant to make me even more pale... it doesn't like moistness, and I know moist is your best fucking friend.

But it is not only the physical discomfort that you impose upon me. You bring about a profound emotional toll. I find myself falling into a state of melancholy, irritation, and sadness as the heat persists. The incessant chirping of cicadas and the unrelenting brightness of the world outside serve only to exacerbate my misery. It is a time when my spirits are crushed, and my patience wears thin.

I yearn for the arrival of your sister Autumn, the season that resonates most profoundly with my soul and style. The crispness in the air, the rustling of fallen leaves, and the gentle embrace of cooler temperatures are the very balm my tormented spirit requires.

With a heart full of longing for the coming Autumn,

[Yvette]

Soon....

That's not how I would've phrased it, but broadly speaking he's right.

"Panem et circenses" is the way to summarize it.

trying to wrap my head around the whole concept of 'booktube' and 'booktok' & to see if I can get something useful out of it.

These are people who have big channels that are composed of them making videos saying 2 sentences each about 50 books that they've never read...

The whole concept seems disingenuous as these people (mostly women) seem to be mainly advertising these (usually fiction) books.  Probably paid by publishing houses & authors.

Before the 1800s, most men were not allowed to vote, go to school or study, they couldn't choose their jobs, they did not choose their wives (the village would organise that). Most of men were field workers. The average guy couldn't even read... :/

You are talking about a short period of time throughout history mid 19th to mid 20th century more or less), but history started 5 000 years ago (and homo sapiens 300 000+ years ago).

Look at history books, I know you're a conscientious person.

I mean ancient history is not a mono-culture either.

e.g. Tacitus already wrote about how the Barbarian tribes that the Romans fought (and increasingly lost battles against) had women among the tribal leadership, something that was unheard of in his native Rome. So the idea that all ancient cultures were patriarchal or patriarchal to the same degree is a fallacy.

Watching Ahsoka yesterday the thing I most realized is how little of a spectacle any new SW still is.

It used to be a huge deal to get new SW content. And this was even the case for a few years after the Disney purchase of Lucas' rights.

Especially the last five or so years though, they have milked the IP too much. And really apart from the first season of The Mandalorian and Andor (which I both liked though for different reasons), it hasn't really yielded anything too memorable.

That's exactly my point.

History is not the caricature that modern feminists want it to be.

The myth that women were oppressed for thousands of years is exactly this: a myth. As for "the patriarchy" (a not very well defined concept), when it really existed, it was often times the reward for men having to sacrifice more for "the team" (war, difficult work, etc.)

Even today, in traditional countries like Armenia (which suffers A LOT despite the media not caring about it as much as they should), there are lots of female soldiers. Women get a recognition for that, because risking your life for the country (or tribe) is very valuable.

^ Western feminists want to have their cake and eat it too. It's not sustainable, they'll get a backlash soon (same for the ideologues that pushes feminism because they see it as a means to control global population).

Disney creators and writers aren't... creative. Most of there neurons are thinking about how they will force-feed the modern day "message" in our minds.

This company is a mess. Bob Iger is a substandard leader and his staff is mediocre as well.

Lucas was way better.

Disney is the proof that money doesn't make you creative, ideology doesn't make you creative and newspaper backing doesn't make you creative.

Being... creative is what makes you creative.

So basically all of these booktok/booktube influencers are scammers as I expected.  Nobody is capable of reading 200 books in 1 month.
