Carlin had a private jet... that routine makes me think of why Tiger Woods was so lauded by golf. He was such good PR for the sport (race and professional performance wise) We're all hypocrites of some sort. Mine is through consumerism.

October 11, 20195 yr Well, you would be a hypocrite if you had child slaves in the basement Carlin's whole set was to get on a soapbox and rant about his views in a populist, creative and funny way- he made a fortune in his career. It's like a rich rockstar complaining about the rich. I recently finished listening to all of his audiobooks (basically a re-written compilation of most of his mid 80s-00s stand-up material plus unused routines). He was talking out of his ass about 5%-10% of the time while the rest are very cleverly on the money and are brilliantly written.

Do you think he got into comedy to be rich and famous or did his love for comedy make him rich and famous? I think he liked to spread his message (bits) and was like sweet I get paid a lot to do this.
October 11, 20195 yr I don't know, as I didn't read either his or his daughter's memoirs. I think he was an artist first and foremost. Carlin's CV largely shows that he was focused on his stand-up (hence the quality) so he probably did the typical tour for one year or more and then assembled an audience-tested comedy special. So in essence thousands of people also "selected" what he included in his specials. My (ranked) favorites from this list, recently completed (full career review) with average album ratings. 1. Cosby (23 albums and performances) 4.5/5 2. Carlin (80s-00s) 4.5/5 3. Patton Oswalt (5 albums) 4.5/5 4. John Mulaney (4 albums) 4.5/5 5. Tom Segura (2 albums) 4/5 6. Kurt Braunohler (2 albums) 4/5 7. Louis CK (11 and "louie") 3.5/5 8. Kyle Kinane (5 albums) 3/5 Do you like any of these comedians?
October 11, 20195 yr ^ yeah, that makes a lot of sense. They consistently talk about balance in the force (particularly in the "chosen one" prophecy, where someone - namely Anakin - is supposed to bring balance to the force). It's very consistent with Asian beliefs, a lot of their stuff is about balance and energy (the force is basically "energy", in the way the Asians use this term). George always said he was inspired by Asian philosophies, particularly the Japanese (the jedi are very close to samurai, light sabers are modern katanas, etc.) Darth Vader's helmet is very Japanese. "Feeling the flow of force (aka energy)" is something I've consistently heard in martial art practice. That's the 1st thing they teach you. So, I'm not surprised of this part of the plot in the last trilogy, and it's not what bothered viewers (at least for me and a lot of the reviews I've read). He talks about Rey, but I've rarely heard critics about her (she's decent). The problem is the lack of scenario, empty characters (like Rose or Holdo) and their f*** PC vibes.
October 11, 20195 yr It's interesting how some people manage to use kids' voices to create a creepy atmosphere. Spoiler It's like the twins in the Shining. Their voice is really the key to their creepiness (we remember them because of the way they say" forever and ever")
October 12, 20195 yr @Enrico_sw The SJWs that they pandered to turned on Lucasfilm. No ever learns that you never apologize and pander to these SJW assholes. They ruined Star Wars pandering to SJWs and looked what happened, it's comical.
October 12, 20195 yr @Prettyphile This article is very scary and it's written by a rational left journalist. https://taibbi.substack.com/

It's hilarious to see them eat each other Most of these guys who complain aren't moviegoers, they're just activists who try to pressure marketers. BTW, Rose is one of the lamest characters of the movie (and maybe of the cinema industry). Not only is she annoying, but she's also very inconsistent in the movie (everyone should see that). Her sister was better (and hotter! )
