TooBoku Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I hate this sub-forum. I hate it I hate it I hate it.There is a problem here however. The Fashion Models sub-forum, whatever our definition of a fashion model is, has become quite crowded and has possibly outgrown the format of your traditional invisionboard. We have sub-forums dedicated to previous ChilaX BoTY winners (Ale, Adriana, Petra... ) but if we continue this for everyone, navigation will become ten times worse. Moving models to the Misc Babes forum is only a temporary solution although a more permanent one will have to be devised sooner or later. For now, the directory is an awesome idea and it should be maintained.Anyway, I have a big problem with the Misc Babes sub-forum.1 - It's hidden away in the General Babe Discussion forum which creates extra clickage to access those threads. You have your Kelly Brooks and Keeley Hazells who should have really active threads but don't get visted in months because they've slipped into that abyss called Misc Babes.2 - They're NOT all Misc Babes. Some have some major accomplishments in models for example. Cat Deeley may play TV show hosts a lot nowadays but she is still an active model and is still making significant contributions to the fashion industry. If you ask her what her profession is, I bet you she'll still say model.3 - Princess Diana, Paris Hilton... same category? Please. However, this may be permissable if you simply rename this forum. I find it irritating for someone to categorize the late Princess under Miscellaneous. It's haneous. While Kim Kardashian is definitely miscellaneous, Queen Rania is definitely not. Although I would rather not use the word "babe" when addressing such a fine example of a modern woman, "Other Babes" would categorize them both adequately for the purposes of BZ without insulting the memory of the late Princess or the legacy that will be left by the reigning Queen of Jordan. "Miscellaneous" just has this thing about it that makes it sound so... purposeless. Quote
Joe > Average Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 :| On a positive note, I like you a lot and think you're a great guy. I hate this sub-forum. I hate it I hate it I hate it. It took our currently shorthanded staff (Pink Couture primarily) a really long time to create said sub-forum. So, in light of our last discussion, even if you don't like it I think for the sake of the effort alone it could have been given the courtesy of at least a Personal Message rather than a public bashing of the sub-forum. But, that's neither here nore there now of course...Though I spent a lot of time on that and my feelings are hurt . Princess Diana, Paris Hilton... same category? Please. Regardless of how many women/people are in said sub-forum, they take a lot of space. There's no way that there are enough socialites and royalty for each to warrant their own sub-forum :| . Not to mention neither has enough fans to warrant such. It is valid that a different name could be found or it could be located differently (not saying that warrants us being put on blast and our efforts pissed on of course ) But we can look into that . There is a problem here however. The Fashion Models sub-forum, whatever our definition of a fashion model is, has become quite crowded and has possibly outgrown the format of your traditional invisionboard. Yeah....it was inevitable I guess.... Also... 1. All moves to the miscelaneous babe section are not set in stone. If you believe a particular person is a Fashion Model, all you have to do is send a personal message to a staff member. People have been sent back.... 2. The misc babes was not meant as a second hand forum or to diss those women. Its merely a means to make the forum (which is generally prone or due to a search engine breakdown at any given time) easier to search for the members and easier to moderate for the currently shorthanded staff. Whether you think we meant to piss on the Royal family and TV hosts or not, the intentions were good... 3. I will discuss a name change and efforts to make it more visible with the staff though . Possibly an "Other Women of Note" Visible in big print like the Actresses, Singers ect. (with subtitle writing of royalty, hosts, socialites. comediens, siblings of celebs, non-fashion models....ect.).... Quote
Ophelia_Immortal Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I do too! I don't think it was a public bash Joe darling! Boku was merely bringing it up for debate is all! He wanted to see what other members thought. We all appreciate how much time and effort you and PC put into this forum. Boku just wanted to discuss it Quote

It is difficult to run a forum even if you are fully staffed. Invisionboard's capabilities are very limitted, not yours Joe. I used to run the site this one was created to immitate. It was a whole damn website, not just a forum. This thread is not to say that you or the administration staff are doing a bad job. You're doing the best you can. However, to say that there is no room for improving things would be arrogant and inaccurate. I just particularly don't favour the current solution for the "miscelaneous babes" problem and hope to collaborate in this thread to hopefully make a new solution. Quote

I guess after I saw the title ...I would like to see it visible from the home page under "Other Women of Note" . Right now there's General Babe Discussion, Fashion Models, Actresses, Singers and Femlale Athletes and they all have a sentence or two describing whose there. I could see it under Female Athletes with a description of primarily the groups not big enough to warrant their own subforum (by way of number and popularity here). Royalty, Politicians, Comediens, Hosts, Chefs, Socialites, Glamour Models, Celebrity Family Members With No Specific Profession at the Moment..... ....I would make a directory with them separated by profession or title if this went down . SympathysSilhouette Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Toobs, to address a few of the points you've made:1. The use of the word "babe". Babe has been used since this forum's conception as a irreverent way of describing a female celebrity. It was never meant to be an insult to any of the women categorized under the sub-forums that carry that name. That's why I think most people have no problem seeing some royalty fall under that category, since it's never been used as a derogatory term. 2. You are right that under the current format, the categorization isn't always 100% black&white. Certain models are harder to fit into either sub-forum than others. Some started out as fashion models but then branched off into other endeavors. Others started out in non-modeling fields but then moved into modeling. As such, there isn't always a perfect solution. What we have done in the past for "model-turned-actresses" is put them in one sub-forum and then leave a link in the other sub-forum. Olga Kurylenko (who used to be primarily a model but has acted quite a lot in recent years) is one example of that. Quote
Hime Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 misc babes is my favorite place to hang out on BZ the only "problem" is that it really doesn't need to be hidden in GBD <_< I mean...come on! misc babes has almost x2 posts than female athletes Quote
siniko Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 paris hilton and kim kardashian should be under the eww sub-forum Quote
KittyBronx Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 ^^^^ Yes, I agree with Siniko. This 'Ewwww' subforum might hold a lot of interesting possibilities... Quote

Joe > Average Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 That member, that was my reaction, yes . This thread was made to protest the subforum (that took forever to make), the naming of the subforum and location of the subforum. Now that that's been resolved surely I can be warranted a little surprise at the arising of a new ought being the initial reaction ? The male forum is open, so the administrators will probably open it soon .... Quote

modelknowledge Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 I think we should add some more subforum 1. Other Females of Interests & Other Males of Interests I think a lot of people make assumptions. If she's a model, she goes in the fashion section. If she is a reality television star, she is an actress. I think if we have subforum's such as Non-Fashion Model (Fitness Model, Commercial Print Model, etc), Reality Television Stars, Cheerleaders & Dancers(ie Dancing of Stars dancers), Royalty & Political Figures (ie Duchess Katherine, Queen Raina, Michelle Obama, etc), News Reporters, Hosts & Presenters (ie Ryan Seacrest, Andy Cohen, Barbara Walters, etc) , Glamour Models & Porn Stars (Kate Price, Jenna Jameson, etc) , Social Media Stars (Jeffree Starr, Jaclyn Hill, etc), Girlfriend(or Boyfriends) of Celebrities (Karreuche Tran, WAGs) . It's really hard to find things in this forum. Almost every thread fits one of those descriptions if forgot any by all means add. I am finding actual fashion model threads, actors, etc. I think it would save the staff a lot of time moving wrongly added topics. 2.Fashion Models needing sub-foum A lot threads are becoming extremely large in the fashion section. There are models who are in the same caliber as Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Ana Beatriz Barros, Gisele Bundchen, and Petra Nemcova as far as posts are concerned. When models exceed a certain amount of campaign, runway, and other accolades, their thread should have sub-threads to separate those accolades. Basically, if a model's thread had a lot of paparazzi pictures as well as campaigns, runway, commercial, catalog, etc, it's time to consider making them a subforum. I think they should also have a minimum requirement of a certain age OR at least ten years active on this forum to ensure that the model's thread won't go dead. There are plenty of newbies with threads larger than some supermodels based on their social media content alone. I think the 80/90s supermodels should all be up there aka Christy, Linda, Naomi, Kate.. They are all very active and have super large threads that are becoming difficult to navigate. I am sure if we start a thread for request on this it will be large and a huge debate. 3. VS Threads All Over the Place Since VS has it's own forum, why are there any VS topics in the general babe section or the talk section? Shouldn't they all be in one place for convenience? I like discussing the business of it and the vintage model id which can be in freaking section depending on where people post crap. It's very confusing especially for members who aren't on here every day. Model IDs separate by Vintage and current, Non Model Talk, Vintage Catalog, etc can be their own subforum of this forum. Quote
