Christopher Waltz talks about Django

Next he is reuniting with Inglourious Basterds director Tarantino for Django Unchained, which he resumes shooting this month.

It follows an escaped slave (Jamie Foxx) who set out to free his wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) from a sadistic plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio). Waltz plays a bounty hunter called Dr King Schultz who helps Foxx with his mission.

"I'm trying to be very aware of not repeating myself," Waltz said in the newspaper interview. "It's a different story, a different character, a different movie. I've played that other character. I'm not going to slip it under the door just because it was successful. But I have to be a little careful that I am not going too far the other side - too restrained."

As is usual with Tarantino, it will be a long shoot. "It's not like Carnage," says Waltz. "That was two weeks of rehearsal, then we started shooting, four actors in one room, come rain or shine.

"With this it's the opposite. We need snow - there is no snow. So the whole operation shuts down and moves to Wyoming."

He reveals that during rehearsal for one scene (a "rodeo-like situation") he came off a horse and broke his pelvis and was put back together by a surgeon he describes as a genius.

Lainey talks about what Dujardin, George, Brad, and Gary are all doing to secure Oscar votes.

How foolishness of us to think it is about who gave the best performance.

And this is all assuming that the Oscar is Dujardin’s. (Lainey: yes, Dujardin is campaigning too, although I’m sure you’d rather believe he’s just the accidental celebrity standing around while the Hollywood players beg around town. Come on now. The Artist is a Harvey Weinstein production, remember?) He’s working it hard in LA, Uggie the Dog in tow—I find it problematic that his Oscar campaign relies on reminding me that a DOG stole scenes from him—but the odds are still in Clooney’s favor by a small margin (albeit, much smaller than it was before Dujardin won the SAG). Clooney’s working that advantage to the max. He’s invited CBS cameras into his home for an episode of Person to Person, the show Edward R. Murrow used to host about celebrity homes. Clooney shows off some movie memorabilia (Rat Pack, of course), the kitchen he openly admits to not using (he’s such a hapless bachelor haha!), and his adopted cocker spaniel (he’s a sucker for those sad-ass ASPCA ads, just like us). This is Clooney at his charming, ingratiating best. He’s trying to make the Academy fall in love with him. Or, fall more in love than they already are.

Then there’s Brad Pitt, working the television circuit in support of Moneyball, giving interviews that are more open and candid than he’s been in the last few years, talking up marriage and his insanely attractive family. He’s dangling the Minivan dream of making it official with Angelina (because six kids isn’t official?!), hoping to lure voters with normalness and accessibility. He wants it, everyone knows he wants it, but he’s keeping the desire in check, leading with the funny and “family first” and hoping the votes follow.

And through all this Gary Oldman is quietly campaigning with a series of career retrospectives, including Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and making appearances at them. He’s had these events in LA, San Francisco, and next week, in New York. He was at the Palm Springs Film Festival working the outpost voters while the BAFTA bloc—the British members of the Academy—pull for him, too. Oldman’s campaign is much less public than Clooney’s or Pitt’s but it’s very specifically focused. He’s hitting up the Academy towns, visiting voters at home, essentially, and playing on the idea that he’s long overdue for such recognition.

Solange

Thanks for Vincent Mobli link :)

As you can see above, we're not the only people who have noticed how George and Brad are doing everything to convince voters they like them best .

And , just think, next we will have Brad on Actor's Studio show

Thanks ox for Waltz article and lainey article (Y) The more I read about the campaigning these actors are doing the more I'm not surprised Leo hasn't won an Oscar.... all this kiss-assing and fakeness doesn't seem like Leo's style. Even though I really want leo to get an oscar I want him to get it by being himself, not suddenly doing a 360 and letting people in his home, talking about his private life and the like. I just wish the awards were solely about the performance and without all this extra bullshit.

^Thanks sick!

So apparently leo did a little shopping this weekend :)

The Great Gatsby's Leonardo DiCaprio returns to The Star casino penthouse despite sacking of Sid Vaikunta

ONE person unaffected by the scandal that has engulfed The Star casino is Leonardo DiCaprio.

Hollywood's highest-earner turned the refurbished entertainment mecca into his personal playground while shooting The Great Gatsby last year and now he's returned to the whole-floor penthouse that was created especially for him while filming finishes up over the coming weeks.

As a close friend of Larry Mullin, the CEO of Echo Entertainment Group which owns The Star, DiCaprio was treated like a high-roller by former managing director Sid Vaikunta - use of the casino's private jet "whenever he wants", dinners at any of the world-class restaurants and extra rooms to stage private parties.

The weekend was no different for DiCaprio, with insiders seeing him walking around the shopping precinct with his personal security detail.

"The bodyguards stood out front while he went into (denim store) G-Star Raw," noted an onlooker.

The shop confirmed they served the actor when Confidential called yesterday, saying he bought a pair of $90 boardshorts.

He is said to have later enjoyed dinner at Japanese eatery Sokyo.

DiCaprio appeared at both of the two multi-million-dollar relaunch parties The Star staged last year - sneaking into a VIP room at restaurant Black By Ezard in September and then introducing a performance by Stevie Wonder in October.

At the latter he was heard asking waitstaff for "the most expensive whisky you have".

He has been spotted with numerous models at the establishment and taken plenty of hangers-on back to his five-star quarters following nights out in Kings Cross, such as on his 37th birthday in November.

"They got there at like 9.30pm, had a few drinks and watched the tennis," said the source

Also thought I would share this with you. I went and saw the movie "chronicle" friday, And as I was watching I thought so much how the main actor Dane Dehaan looked like Leo. Couldn't pintpoint how, but I thought perhaps in Gilbert Grape or something, and hes got really strong blue eyes like Leo.

The dude is cute (he looks alot better in motion than in his pics)

Kat

Below is article where they speak with Dehaan about his resemblance to Leo : )

You probably hear it all the time, but you look a lot like a young Leonardo DiCaprio. Did people tell you this when you first went to Hollywood?

Yeah. I've heard it so much more in the last couple years, but I do remember the first time I ever heard it was in a community theater production I did when I was really young. I mean, maybe I was 12. I wore a tux in it and they slicked back my hair and I remember everyone saying I looked like Leo in Titanic. And then I didn't hear it again for another seven years. Now I hear it all the time. It's oftentimes one of the first things someone will say to me. Like, Hey, good to meet you. Has anyone ever told you you look like a young Leonardo DiCaprio ?

Does it get a little tiresome?

If someone is gonna compare you to another actor when they were younger, who would you like them to compare you to? I'd probably go with Leonardo DiCaprio. I don't think it is really something I can complain about. He did great work when he was younger. And the girls went wild.

Also, thanks , for latest Leo /Sydney news . I would like to see some pix of him in his new boardshorts :p

Fash

Yes, I agree with your thoughts below .

It ceases being about voting for the performance you liked best, and becomes instead , voting for the person you like best.

The more I read about the campaigning these actors are doing the more I'm not surprised Leo hasn't won an Oscar.... all this kiss-assing and fakeness doesn't seem like Leo's style.
