Wow thank you all for the new pics, and tweets!

I think he looks pretty good in the pics outside of Armani exchange. But now, we have another green thing to wonder about  But this one looks like just a regular stress ball :p

Also hope his charity gala was fun last night with Jay-z and Jamie Foxx :)

And thanks Ox for telling me your review of J.Edgar. Hopefully I can see it soon, and by your review it sounds great. but I have one question, you said leo had a wonderful performance, like everyone else said, but what did you personally think of the film as a whole?

Hes probably gonna be on his way to australia pretty soon, because of the time difference.

And here: Another aritcle about how incredible leo is :p

DiCaprio makes challenging roles his specialty

After dimming down his star status for more challenging roles, Leonardo DiCaprio says he likes where he's headed.

The new direction has him in conversation with Martin Scorsese to play Frank Sinatra in a film and he's excited about his Jay Gatsby part in the reimagined Baz Luhrmann movie version of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, being produced in Australia.

For a real change of pace, fans can catch DiCaprio in Clint Eastwood's biopic, J. Edgar.

It's a performance that will likely earn him his fourth Oscar nomination.

DiCaprio plays Hoover, from his early days as an ambitious justice-department agent based in Washington, D.C., to his aggressive FBI empire building from the 1930s to the 1970s, until his death in 1972.

"Hoover was a crackpot of eccentricities, and we couldn't even fit all of his eccentricities into this movie," says DiCaprio on a break from The Great Gatsby to promote J. Edgar.

That was the easy part. Playing the pudgy-faced megalomaniac required lots of makeup, a makeover that took six to eight hours a day.

DiCaprio says he's thankful Eastwood decided to shoot their "older scenes" in the last two weeks of filming, which helped DiCaprio, along with Armie Hammer as Tolson and Naomi Watts as Gandy, who also had to age significantly.

"We got to get our footing, and then come to set," DiCaprio says.

"The challenge for me was not just the prosthetic work, and how to move like an older man, but more, to show an all-powerful older man with 50 years in the workplace."

Eastwood says with a smile: "Having an 80-year-old director right there in front of you helps, too."

More seriously, DiCaprio says Eastwood "created an environment catering to actors," so the aging sequences were easier than they might have been.

DiCaprio also says he adheres to the old-school Eastwood method.

"What Clint expects is that you plant your feet and speak the truth, like James Cagney said."

Indeed, DiCaprio insists that playing Hoover as a lonely eccentric hiding his sexual orientation was a great deal less complex than showing the career-obsessed side of the lawman's personality.

"That's a hard concept for me to wrap my head around," DiCaprio says of Hoover's career obsession. "I would never completely sacrifice any sort of love in my life. I have never experienced that on a personal level."

For good or for bad, the gossip pages confirm DiCaprio's statement. After splitting with actress Blake Lively in October, he's been seen with a series of beautiful women while filming The Great Gatsby in Australia.

Deadline has readjusted J Edgar's weekend estimate

Unfortunately Nikki's earlier estimate was inaccurate, and now the estimate is 13 million

Considering it opened in 300 less theaters than "Ides" which ,also, was overall better reviewed , and opened to 10.4 that would be good.

My hope is that when the final estimate comes in it stays at 13 million or ,maybe, gets bumped up a little.

Kat

As to the film as a whole, I thought it was a well done drama.

However, as I mentioned yesterday it is a movie that requires one's attention/focus, one to think. Even after you 'see' it you're still digesting it, which is how I , personally , felt about SI & Inception.

I had to see them twice to really be able to absorb /appreicate all that was on the screen.

Thanks for Vancouver article :)

Barbie I love your new avi  Still curious to know if your last avi was leo. Cause in some ways it looked like him, in others not. Like you said though, if it was him it was deifnetly during the beach era.

Ox: Thanks for your opinion. Nice its a thinker. Sometimes that looses people, but I personally enjoy it :)

Oh and also on ET last night they had a "they dated?" segment and they connected costar to costar and who they dated. And it talked about how leo and claire were rumored and as they were talking about that they had a ton of shotting vids of Romeo and Juliet I've never seen. Like there pool makeout seen outtake that they didn't put in the movie, and alot more!

Kat

Yes, it is a 'thinker'. Like you, I like that type of film. However, the majority of my friends go more for action/popcorn type movies .

Thanks for ET information.

I love movies that makes me think, it's good a film where you have to make your brain works. Not that I don't like other types of movie, but I really like complicated dramas and I love something more realistic.

Well This definitely will be, the winner of More BS article. Look the things they added to it in less than an hour

Noo, don’t hate on Dlisted.com! It’s brilliant!

The vintage pics you found were hilarious too, Byprincess!

And I’m soo happy that Sacha Baron Cohen will join! OMG :D

Oxford, I’m so jelaouse you got to see J. Edgar already!!!

I thought it would open much later, it was only in specific cities, right?

So was the ‘opening’ grossing good or bad?

In spite of all the terrific performances he has given in the past, I think with this performance he tops himself.

In this case, he HAS to win the oscar!

Box office wise , to me, first when you look at this week of Top Ten films, one has to consider the theater count :

Immortals =3,112

Jack and Jill=3,438

Puss N Boots =3,952

J Edgar =1,907

I don't think anyone expected it to make as much as films that are showing gross from over 1,000 =1,500 more theaters.

Plus, naturally being an R rated film about an unpopular subject (Hoover ) it is much harder to sell to moviegoing audienes versus popcorn entertainment like Immortals or Jack & Jill.

And , for sure, it is not a film geared for kids/families like Puss N Boots.

So , I think, people will view it in terms of how other adult dramas have done this year , not great, but somewhat better than some.

Ides of March ( Clooney/Gosling ) has a much higher critical rating than J Edgar and opened in 300 more theaters. It's opening weekend was 10.4.

So, J Edgar's opening is not higher than expected, but , if it remains at 13 mil it will be better than Ides .

Maybe I'm misreading this article dated 11/12/11 heading from Vogue, but to me , it gives the impression that Ghena was in attendance at Leo's party last night , as well as, Irmelin

It states pix will be forthcoming.

Also , it list Naomi Campbell as attending.

A new love for Leo

Super party with mum and Madalina Ghenea

Wijn

Yes, at present, and I hope the 13 million estimate holds, it will hold its own against other recent adult dramas.

Then we need to have hope for good 'wom' in the weeks ahead for it.

What? No tweets from the party? Details, comments? information from a source close? No pics of leonardo dancing the macarena? No? Nothing? :( I guess it's a little soon... ok I will wait! :ermm:
