May 18, 20213 yr Still having the time to do something good Quote Leonardo DiCaprio pledges $43m to restore the Galápagos Islands Environmentalist actor, with other conservation groups, aims to rewild the entire archipelago and other Pacific islands in Latin America Leonardo DiCaprio has announced a $43m (£30.4m) pledge to enact sweeping conservation operations across the Galápagos Islands, with his social media accounts taken over by a wildlife veterinarian and island restoration specialist. The initiative, in partnership with Re:wild, an organisation founded this year by a group of renowned conservation scientists and DiCaprio, the Galápagos National Park Directorate, Island Conservation, and local communities, aims to rewild the entire Galápagos Islands, as well as all of Latin America’s Pacific archipelagos. The $43m pledge will fund Galápagos projects including efforts to restore Floreana Island, home to 54 threatened species, and reintroduce 13 locally extinct species, including the Floreana mockingbird – the first mockingbird described by Charles Darwin. The money will also pay for a captive breeding programme and other activities to prevent the extinction of the pink iguana, and strengthen measures to protect the Galápagos’s marine resources from the human impact of ecotourism. DiCaprio said: “When I travelled to the Galápagos Islands, I met with Paula Castaño and other environmental heroes in Ecuador working day in and day out to save one of the most irreplaceable places on the planet. “Around the world, the wild is declining. We have degraded three-quarters of the wild places and pushed more than 1 million species to the brink of extinction. More than half of Earth’s remaining wild areas could disappear in the next few decades if we don’t decisively act. “The environmental heroes that the planet needs are already here. Now we all must rise to the challenge and join them.” Paula A Castaño, who will take over DiCaprio’s Instagram and Twitter accounts to promote critical interventions needed to rewild the Galápagos, said: “Time is running out for so many species, especially on islands where their small populations are vulnerable and threatened. “We need catalytic investments like the one announced today to replicate our successes in the Galápagos and elsewhere.” (...) DiCaprio, a longtime champion of global environmental issues, has provided more than $100m in grants to a variety of programs and projects. He has also praised the teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg as a “leader of our time”, and addressed the United Nations about the dangers of climate change in 2014. Source
May 18, 20213 yr Little update about DeNiros injury: Quote DeNiro has finally detailed what went down when he hurt his quadricep muscle in Oklahoma, when he sat down with IndieWire. "I tore my quad somehow. It’s just a simple stepping over something & I just went down. The pain was excruciating & now I have to get it fixed. But it happens, especially when you get older, you have to be prepared for unexpected things. But it’s manageable." The 77 year-old actor revealed. DeNiro plays William Hale in Scorsese’s long awaited movie who is a cattleman & the uncle of Leo’s Ernest Burkhart. On if the injury would affect his performance, he said it isn’t likely. "What I’m doing with Scorsese in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon,’ I’m pretty much a sedentary character in a way. I don’t move around a lot, thank god. So we’ll manage," said DeNiro "I just have to get the procedure done & keep it straight in a certain position & let it heal." He also stressed that while AppleTV+ is producing the film, they won’t be exclusively a streaming release. "One of the things is that it has to play in theaters. That’s a very strong component of it. By the time it comes out, hopefully it’ll be back to a close-to-normal situation" said DeNiro. Source

May 19, 20213 yr Love the Emma Stone clip! Thanks Akatosh! Two of my aunts went to Pawhuska today and got some pictures of the set building. My aunt said she crossed the barrier once and got yelled at. 🤭😆 Unfortunately, no Leo sightings/pics. They are still filming in Fairfax this week, I believe. They will be in Bartlesville the end of the month. I’m still not sure how many film crews are filming at different places simultaneously, but seems to be at least two on occasion.
May 19, 20213 yr 15 hours ago, akatosh said: Emma Stone is one of us 😃 Quote Emma Stone Is Convinced Leonardo DiCaprio Thinks She's Super Weird, And I Love Her Even More For It Stars, they're just like us. Emma Stone is a talented actor — there's no denying it. See: La La Land, Easy A, Crazy, Stupid, Love., etc. But before she was an award-winning actor, she was just like us: obsessed with Titanic and, OFC, Leonardo DiCaprio. Fast-forward 20 years, and Leo is suddenly giving Emma her very first Oscar for her work in La La Land. Talk about a dream come true. "I'd seen Titanic seven and a half times in theaters. He was the love of my life. I had a picture of him in my bedroom that was signed, that I had gotten for my birthday when I was like 12 years old, and I was walking to Leo," Emma said about the experience. "I was like, this is officially the most surreal moment of my life. I could not believe it." Now, though, Emma is convinced her past obsession is a little off-putting to the Titanic star. "I think he probably thinks I'm like a little weird, 'cause whenever I see him, I'm kind of like, 'Hey, how's it going?' You know, just in little moments when you're at the same event or something. He's very sweet though." So take it from Emma Stone — having a poster (or a wall of posters) with that one celeb you're obsessed with doesn't mean you can't receive an Oscar from them one day. It just might be a little awkward. Source Love her with the long hair btw
