Reminder we have Leo's  annual LDF Gala this Saturday 15th , and I sure hope we get lots of pix

Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation 20th Anniversary Celebration: Saturday 15th September 2018: Sonoma Valley, California, USA

Over the past few years, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation (LDF) have held an annual gala in the summer month of July. This year, to celebrate their 20th Anniversary Leonardo is hosting a very private and exclusive event at a private ranch in Sonoma Valley, Sonoma Country, California on 15 September. This will be one of the top events of the year in terms of celebrities in one area, networking, and spectacles with only 300 very special guests in attendance.

LDF have a mission to protect the Earth’s last wild places, implementing solutions that restore balance to threatened ecosystems, and ensure the long-term health and well-being of all its inhabitants. The LDF brings attention and needed funding to three areas: protecting biodiversity, ocean & forest conservation, and climate change. Currently LDF supports over 70 high-impact projects in more than 40 countries around the world. Millions of dollars are raised to support their cause.

This year the foundation are celebrating their 20th anniversary. We can expect performances from Chris Martin from Coldplay and there will be a variety of celebrities attending including Tony Maguire, Ellen DeGeneres, Arnold Schwarzenegger and loads more

Excerpt from recent interview with well known Indian actor  Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Quote

Q: Who are the other actors you admire?

A: I don't admire actors. I admire performances. I saw this Hong Kong film 'In The Mood For Love'. And I was blown away by Tony Leung's performance, I thought Michael Keaton was mindblowing in 'Birdman'. But my favourite performance is Leonardo DiCaprio's in 'The Wolf of Wall Street'. He played the character as wildly as possible not bothering about pitch and rhythm. I like that sense of unpredictability in the performance.

DM has some of the same pix , plus this one that is a little different shot of Leo

Also I noticed in the AFLO series of these same pix , that at one point,  Brad the driver jumps out of the window .

Does that mean the car then crashes  ???

As why is he jumping out of the car while Rick is  still in the passenger seat ???

I well remember that entrance to the Ellen set :)

To say that would be a great  surprise is an understatement !!

I think that other pix was from the Before the Flood documentary

Looking at pix , I can't tell if that is supposed to be a fellow cast member in the backseat or a crew member just doing something before the car begins moving

The guy at Tarantino New site says that he thinks the guy in back seat is Brendan Lee the asst director

Yes,  they seem to live in that car and those clothes :p

Another article about Leo's LDF event this year from Artnet

Art, Celebs, and a Live Hawk: Leonardo DiCaprio Is Hosting His Annual Benefit Auction to Raise Money for Wildlife

Wayne Thiebaud will receive the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation’s inaugural Art and Environment Award

One of the year’s most buzzed-about art auctions is set to kick off this weekend, but it isn’t hosted by Sotheby’s, Christies, or any other house. It’s the annual benefit auction for the Leonardo Dicaprio Foundation, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

The event, on September 15, has been scaled back from its four lavish previous iterations in St. Tropez, yet it’s nonetheless expected to be a star-studded affair. Hosted on a sustainable vineyard in California’s Sonoma County, the zero-waste evening will feature an art auction, celeb attendees like Edward Norton, Tobey Maquire, and a special performance by Coldplay singer Chris Martin. Oh, there will also be a live hawk flying around.

The event expects to host around 300 guests (down from 1,000) and an auction with 20 lots (down from about 50). But the reduction in quantity doesn’t mean a sacrifice in quality. The auction will offer a mix of big-name and emerging artists, including paintings by Jack Goldstein, Matthew Wong, and Jonas Burgert; sculptures by Ai Weiwei, Fred Wilson, and the Haas Brothers; a Richard Prince C-print, a David Hockney iPad drawing on paper, and a mixed-media work by Cory Arcangel.

DiCaprio enlisted art advisor Lisa Schiff, who’s worked with the actor and his foundation for four years, to organize the auction, which raises funds for wildlife and environmental causes. “I didn’t want the usual suspects,” Schiff tells artnet News. Instead of bringing in overexposed artists who appear often at benefit auctions, she solicited those who are buzzworthy but not over-hyped; rigorous but also capable of bringing in money for the foundation. “The long game is better than the short game. If the work is good, then in the long run, the buyers will make the money back.”

Benefit auctions can be tricky affairs for artists, who are frequently asked to donate works to charitable causes and don’t always get to oversee the results. “This year I asked myself, ‘How can I make the auction work for the artists?’” Schiff says. “I looked for artists who aren’t getting the kind of mass attention that other artists are, who would actually benefit from the auction. I wanted to avoid including any speculatively-hyped artists in the auction, because they’re the ones who actually get hurt and they bring in the wrong people.”

One of the highlights in the sale is a six-foot-tall Wayne Thiebaud painting, Mountain Split (2011-17), which is valued at roughly $4.5 million. Thiebaud, who turns 98 this year, will also be honored with the foundation’s inaugural Art and Environment Award, recognizing an “individual’s significant and sustained contributions to innovative artistic practice that foregrounds art, and its ability to encourage engagement and action, as a cornerstone of public life.”

Arne Glimcher, the founder of Pace Gallery, will also be celebrated with the foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award conservation. (Little known fact: Glimcher was a producer of the 1988 film Gorillas in the Mist.) Mini exhibitions devoted to both Thiebaud and Glimcher will be on view at the event, in custom booths designed by architect Annabelle Selldorf.

This is the fifth auction the foundation has held since its founding in 1998. Reports have estimated previous fundraising totals at between $30 million (in 2017) and $45 million (2016), though expectations are a bit lower this year given the number of lots. The auction is open for online bidding now.

Thanks ox and Barbie for the foundation info, pics, links, and the video of Natasha Rothwell! She's my favorite character in Insecure

Brad Pitt's looking like he's relaxed and enjoying himself.

To see Leo back on set again, yah! And his auction's coming up, too.

I just happen to turn on Ellen when he appeared (I'm usually at work when Ellen's on TV, but was home sick that day). Y'all, I was tongue-tied, like 'whaaaa?'. Yeah, I DVR'd that segment, with Leo's doable self :w00t:

Barbie

Tks for larger version of Aflo pix :)

I guess , maybe , the area that Brad had to get out on was too tight to open door , so he opted to jump out of window

Or since he is playing a stunt man , he opted to exit like a stunt man might have in an action scene 😜

Yes , the area where they were filming on Tuesday & on Monday when the woman on Facebook said they were filming in her neighborhood, that might well be near what will be Sharon’s house

Jade

I would cruise with Leo , he seems to be very witty and would make for a good time :p
