The woman/character behind the red bandana in Django

There weren't many questions left lingering after Django Unchained (mostly because pretty much everyone died), but there was at least one thing viewers were left wondering: Who was that masked woman?

Fans of director Quentin Tarantino were quick to I.D. the eyes as those of Zoë Bell, longtime Tarantino collaborator (she starred in Death Proof and was Uma Thurman's stunt double in Kill Bill). So did the camera linger on her just a little bit longer as a sort of wink-wink to those fans? Or was there more to her story?

First things first, yes, that was her behind that red bandana: "Absolutely," Zoë laughed when we asked her about the cameo at last night's Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters premiere.

There was backstory and there was to be a fight sequence," she continued. "I don't know how much Quentin wants me to say, but yes, there was originally more than that. But I guess when you're getting such brilliant s--t with Leo [Dicaprio] and Jamie [Foxx] and Christoph [Waltz], you just keep shooting and time kind of got crunchy."

Which means, no, unfortunately her saga will not be appearing as DVD extra (Zoë confirmed that the scenes were never shot). Which means her mysterious plotline will be left to a few lingering shots and one scene in which she looks at an even more mysterious picture of two little boys. Plus, that omnipresent bandana.

"Yes and there was a little sneaky secret under the mask," Zoë coyly explained when asked if she was ever intended to be unmasked. "Part of my face was missing."

Well, dang. To quote Leo's evil Candie Candie, "You had my curiosity. But now you have my attention."

While some have said that the missing appendage could be her jaw (gross! awesome! we want to see!), that was all Zoë was willing to reveal about what could have been: "I'm going to get a call from Quentin tomorrow like, ‘What are you doing telling people?!'"

It always amazes me how media/press change their false rumors/exaggerated stories immediately :blink:

The ridiculous rumors about Leo quitting acting/retiring were all over the net ,nowww this quote by Leo that says He will never quit acting/I`ll never lose my drive... is all over the net.at least I loveeeeeeee this news :D

Leonardo DiCaprio earned a Golden Globe nomination for his unflinching portrayal of a slave owner in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained and, while it's jarring to watch the 38-year-old baby-faced star spewing racism, he sees the decision to take on his first really villainous role as neither brave nor surprising.

"Look at some of the greatest roles that people have played, the ones people talk about - Orson Welles in Citizen Kane or Jake LaMotta [Robert De Niro] in Raging Bull," DiCaprio says. "These are not very likeable characters and you don't need to become that guy - you just need to understand the part of their psyche that explains what motivates them."

The mud-and-blood spaghetti western is set in the American south in 1858 and DiCaprio plays plantation owner Calvin Candie, a man whose slaves include the wife of freed slave Django (Jamie Foxx).

In one chilling scene, Candie sits at dinner calmly slicing open an old skull of an African slave to give his guests a lesson in phrenology, supposedly justifying white supremacy.

DiCaprio, dressed in Armani from head to foot (''except my Tag watch'', the shrewd marketer points out of the timepiece he co-designed so sales could benefit the NRDC - National Resources Defence Council), is sitting in a New York hotel suite talking about his favourite subject: work. He's charming and down-to-earth but has spent years perfecting the art of giving relatively impersonal interviews so, while he never sets up conditions of "no personal questions", he's certainly adept at handling them and steering the conversation back to safe ground.

The role DiCaprio embraces is that of serious actor, not serial monogamist: he has a list of former girlfriends that reads like a Victoria's Secret supermodel directory: Eva Herzigova, Gisele Bundchen, Bar Refaeli and most recent girlfriend, Erin Heatherton. When asked if he thinks marriage is in his future, DiCaprio chides, "Of course, that's going to happen some day. Just like everything in life, when it's right, it's right, and we shall see."

But push any harder and he smiles sweetly and responds, "You know I'm never going to talk about my personal relationships."

Luckily for DiCaprio, he's got plenty of work to talk about, coming off three films back-to-back during the past 18 months - Django Unchained, The Great Gatsby, directed by Baz Luhrmann, and The Wolf of Wall Street, directed by Martin Scorsese.

"It's interesting, because once you get into that mode of just constantly working and constantly focusing, it's like a basketball season in which you're just playing and have no time to stop and reflect," he says.

People always ask, 'Are you mentally exhausted or emotionally exhausted when you finish doing a character?,' and my answer is no, I actually feel energised because I get to live this other person's life and try to channel things from my own life into that character."

Which brings us back to Calvin Candie, and where DiCaprio found the inspiration to play a man guilty of such horrific cruelty.

"He was brought up in a racist environment feeling superior, so we wanted to create somebody who also had a justification for that sort of racism, and we had the idea that he thought he was a different species because of phrenology," he says.

DiCaprio is a voracious reader (ask him how he quit smoking years back and he says, "There are plenty of books about it"), so he quickly became an expert in phrenology, even presenting Tarantino with an antique book on the subject to share the understanding.

"It was hard for me to get into that mind frame, to wrap my head around somebody that had that level of cruelty to disregard the people that he's lived with as human," he admits, "but that's what the role called for."

DiCaprio was 19 when, with only bit film parts and a recurring role in the sitcom Growing Pains under his belt, he scored his first Oscar nomination as a mentally challenged teenager in the 1993 drama What's Eating Gilbert Grape?. After his stunning performance that year opposite Robert De Niro in This Boy's Life, he never looked back.

With Baz Luhrmann's 1996 drama Romeo + Juliet followed quickly by the 1997 blockbuster Titanic, he became a global phenomenon, pursued both by teenage girls and paparazzi, but DiCaprio escaped heart-throb status with help from Martin Scorsese, who directed him in Gangs of New York (2002), The Aviator (which earned him a 2004 Oscar nomination), The Departed (2006) and Shutter Island (2010).

He scored his third Oscar nomination with Blood Diamond (2006) and won acclaim for his work in Catch Me if You Can (2002), Revolutionary Road (2008), Inception (2010) and J.Edgar (2011).

But DiCaprio also plays hard, even if he won't talk about it. He flew to Sydney recently on a private jet with friends to celebrate New Year's Eve. Then the actor promptly drove to Canberra to avoid Sydney airport curfews so he could take off and make it to Las Vegas in time to celebrate the New Year a second time.

What else is he looking forward to doing on his first break in three years? "I do want to dedicate a lot of this next year not only to taking some time to reflect on everything, but getting back into doing more environmental work," he says.

I ask him to name his biggest vice. "Here we go with these questions again," DiCaprio says, rolling his eyes good-naturedly. After a pause he replies, teasingly, "I go out and have a drink every once in a while - I know, that's controversial, isn't it?"

Then he adds, "Obviously, I take what I do very seriously and there is the intensity of that when I'm on set, so I guess my vice is to hang out with my friends and do funny voices and act like a complete idiot, because it's the only way to filter out the serious stuff, almost like a meditation or therapy."
