October 31, 20222 yr Yep, I'll follow suit. Firstly, thanks @BarbieErin for the acknowledgment and shout-out. California is meant to be blue. Then, thanks a mill to @Lilja Kandย @akatosh for spreading the candy-holiday love. I know I'll be swinging by Baskin-Robins for their 31st-day specials, some of us only patronise ice cream parlors like Cold Stone and Pinkย Berry, but BR is what I can afford, anyway Happy Halloween ๐ญ everybody!ย

November 2, 20222 yr Is โKillers of the Flower Moonโ Actually Going to Cannes 2023? The folks over at Apple TV have been a quiet bunch of late. Thereโs been radio silence these past few months regarding Martin Scorseseโs โKillers of the Flower Moon.โ They did take the time to semi-launch a campaign for the Will Smith epic โEmancipationโ . Iโve had to rely all these months on a source close to the โKillersโ team who last told me the film was almost finished in the editing room. So, why not release it in 2022? The main reason itโs not being released this year, he told me, seems to stem from โMarty just not wanting to take on Steven [Spielberg]. They believe itโs Stevenโs time.โ If thatโs the case, then itโs an extremely lame excuse. Just release the damn thing already. Cinephiles worldwide are eagerly anticipating this latest statement from maรฎtre Scorsese. Scorsese and Apple purposely deciding to withdraw from the Oscar sweepstakes because of Spielbergโs โThe Fabelmansโ is crushing. โKillersโ was all set to have a teaser released in August and then came Scorseseโs call for minor reshoots in NYC, mostly having to do with the filmโs coda, that didnโt disrupt the editing phase too much. Production on โKillers of the Flower Moonโ ended almost 12 months ago. There is no way โKillersโ wouldnโt be ready by the end of December in some way shape or form. The delays seem to be tactical, maybe even political, manoeuvring more than anything else. A Deadline report in the late summer hinted that Scorsese delayed the film, seemingly interested in debuting it at Cannes next May. This would be Scorseseโs first film shown at Cannes in over 20 years, and that was just to premiere the first 20 minutes of โGangs of New York.โ No, the actual last time Scorsese screened a full-length feature at Cannes goes back to the mid-โ80s when โAfter Hoursโ was in official competition. Scorsese went on to win the Best Director Prize that year. The other Scorsese films to have competed for the Palme dโOr were 1974โs โAlice Doesnโt Live Here Anymore,โ 1976โs โTaxi Driverโ and 1983โs โThe King of Comedy.โ So, is Scorsese actually going to Cannes? My source tells me itโs not a done deal because, quite frankly, Apple are still waiting for Marty to give them an update on the film. Over the last few weeks, Iโve been seeing some big name directors, Cannes regulars, starting to shoot new works, with what I would assume, for many of them, is the intent of premiering these films at Cannes. Last month, I had found 35 films that might show up for the 76th edition. On-paper it looks like a stunning set of filmmakers: Scorsese, Anderson, Glazer, Lanthimos, Haynes, Payne, Ceylan, Aster, Godard, Allen, Rohrwacher, Dumont, Sissako, and, who knows, maybe even Polanski. Of course, things could rapidly change, but if somehow โKillers of the Flower Moonโ ends up having its first screening at Cannes, then itโll be a major get for Thierry Fremaux and quite possibly one of the most anticipated movies in Cannes history. ย Source

November 2, 20222 yr Baz is truly underrated in my opinion. His capacity for storytelling is coruscant, just in the sense every frame he shoots gleams and glistens. I love how he tells true stories, maintains his signature style, and doesn't cheapen the quality of those stories or recounts. His directorial style isn't conventional, but it works. My motherย hatesย his version of R & J, just because she's so used to the '68 performance, and, 'tis a play from the 1590s, but in my thirties, I can appreciate his modernization of that story. His soundtracks are beyond phenomenal. I guess I just didn't catch how much Cruel Intentions was musicallyย inspired by the R & J's soundtrack. Baz has a good ear and I'm sure Leonardo does too. I love hearing Baz talk about Lee.ย ย Si, that pic is of Baz and Leo. @oxford25. ย ย
